Nah, I think Thielemann's second movement is better because: 1. The first climax is much too extreme in this version, and it takes away from the big climax 2. The second climax in Thielemann's version is much more "unrelenting" in a way, that just overpowers you, where this one is broken up by the brass, and it loses some of its "relentlessness" in a way 3. In the midsection, where it is kind of a fuge, the melody is initially buried a bit too much in the accompanying violin arpeggios In the end, it's up to you which one you like better, but that is my 2 cents.
I like your 2 cents because I’m going to try to find that performance. Up until now I’ve loved the Solti performance he did, I believe it was with VPO in Japan. It’s on RUclips, that has a fantastic second movement. I’m still evaluating this one.

The second movement became the funeral music of the 56 Hungarian Revolution! The story is: there was nobody in the ordinary offices of the Radio Kossuth (Hungarian State Radio) because the studios were in ruins, so the technicians who worked at the broadcasting tower far away from Budapest, try to play something to sign the public, that the station exists. They did a wonderful job of capturing the musicians expressing their abilities, emotions, and passion. That really added so much power and depth to the listening and viewing experience for me. It never ceases to amaze me how people can sit in such an amazing hall, listening to such an amazing piece, played by such an amazing orchestra, with such an amazing conductor and just..... sit still. It's far and away the worst part of being in the audience in a symphony concert. Obviously, making noises, unlike at a pop or rock or rap concert disturbs other people's ability to enjoy the masterpiece (and often in quiet sections, to hear it at all) but how can you POSSIBLY sit still in the exposition of the first movement? It's so joyous! It's so full of happiness and love and goodness. HOW can you think that sitting stock-still, old people falling asleep, A PROHIBITION ON CLAPPING BETWEEN MOVEMENTS, and old people generally just being ultra-shitty to anyone who doesn't follow their strict interpretation of what THEY THINK the rules are for watching an orchestra concert- as if everyone didn't fucking PAY to get in?? It's just. This sort of way of enjoying the symphony is a relic of the monarchies of Europe. Children are to be seen and not heard. Symphony audiences are not to be seen, heard, or even allowed to breathe slightly too loudly or cough. It's just sad. Why do you think at the end of practically every professional symphony concert, the crowd stands up and applauds for so long that the Orchestra ends up having to pay Overtime, because the service goes past the 2.5 hour mark because of the applause? Because during the concert, they're fucking BORED. They literally fall asleep and start snoring. I've seen that happen at LEAST half a dozen times. The fact that if I even nod slightly to the beat, some old bastard goes "iF yOu eVeR gO tO aNoThEr cOnCeRt YoU sHoUlD lEaRn nOt tO bE sO fUcKiNg rUdE" like FUCK YOU OLD MAN I'VE LITERALLY PLAYED DOZENS OF CONCERTS WITH THIS EXACT ORCHESTRA. I'VE BEEN GOING TO SYMPHONY CONCERTS SINCE BEFORE I COULD WALK. MAYBE IT'S **YOUR** ATTITUDE THAT NEEDS AN "ADJUSTMENT", SINCE IT'S PEOPLE LIKE ***YOU*** THAT ARE THE ***EXACT, SPECIFIC, AND ONLY*** REASON YOUNG PEOPLE DON'T LIKE GOING TO CLASSICAL MUSIC CONCERTS. BECAUSE THE OLD FUCKS IN THE AUDIENCE ARE SO GOD-DAMNED RUDE TO YOUNG PEOPLE AS A MATTER OF COURSE THAT THEY FEEL UNWELCOME. AS IF IT'S NOT BAD ENOUGH THAT KIDS HAVE TO SIT STILL IN SCHOOL, DO HOURS OF HOMEWORK EVERY NIGHT, NO CHILDHOOD, NO PLAYTIME- THEY GO TO A SYMPHONY CONCERT AND ARE REALLY FEELING IT, SO THEY MOVE- AND YOU THINK THAT'S RUDE? NO, MY "FRIEND". LOOK AT ME. LOOK. AT. ME. ***YOU*** ARE THE ASSHOLE NOW.
Thank you! was scanning the comments section looking for her name, I could tell she was someone I needed to put a name on! wonderful player and beautiful as well.
I first heard the Allegretto movement as powerful music used in the video of The King's Speech. It was superb and triumphant lifting the marvelous accomplishment of the king giving this powerful speech to the English people. Speech and music in perfect harmony.
I came across this conductor a few days ago. Humble guy; at the end, he emphasizes the importance of the orchestra. I am not an expert on classical music, though I like it, and from my point of view this is quite a good performance. I am a software engineer, and I develop algorithms, some of them really complex, and when I am driving mad, hitting my head against the wall, thinking "this should work, why it doesn't?" I listen to Bach, Beethoven, Genesis of Pink Floyd. Particularly, the allegretto of Beethoven's Seventh Symphony clears my mind and calms me down.
It's reminds me a lot of Chopin's funeral march. Both have the same slow, stern, stately melancholy. This feels like a wake-up call, a reminder of loss and crisis and the need to focus on what truly matters.
Magnificent! I can think of no music more appropriate for the times. Reaching deep within individually with our gifts and talents to move through everything with courage. Meeting and feeling all of it. This music inspires that sense for me. Thank you!
Such a beatiful sound of my 2nd favorite symphony by Beethoven. And the more I watch Andrés conduct, the more a fan of him I become. Would love to meet him in person, but of course that's such a stretch. Well played by all.

They did a wonderful job of capturing the musicians expressing their abilities, emotions, and passion. That really added so much power and depth to the listening and viewing experience for me. Thank you!
How fortunate for all those who can appreciate this wonderful music.
Are you ok?
They use old instruments , from the era of Beethoven . Beautiful .
the flutist uses a modern instrument.
the clarinets are modern
The woodwinds are all modern instruments. The horns and trumpets are all natural instruments...meaning valveless.
I love to hear Clara Andrada play her golden flute wonderfully!!!!
Thank you! was scanning the comments section looking for her name, I could tell she was someone I needed to put a name on! wonderful player and beautiful as well.
I am IN LOVE with the 3rd movement!
Ye all musicians in HR FRANKFURT symphony, ye all be very very proud to play here!!!!
great eye contact from the
conductor and players. I
really enjoyed the warming
second movement.
Conductor, you're Awesome.
I love your choice of tempo.
Yes, I cannot imagine all that goes behind to come up with so much harmony. Bravo!
Thank you!
Conducting this work
brings me great joy.
Such a beatiful sound of my 2nd favorite symphony by Beethoven. And the more I watch Andrés conduct, the more a fan of him I become. Would love to meet him in person, but of course that's such a stretch. Well played by all.
Front left cello is so into the music, he's bopping his head the entire first movement 😂.
Obrigado!!!
All the work this team puts out is on fire! ! Every beethoven symphony ( and dvoraks'! ) of theirs hasnt had a single note out of perfection, nor a mood or emotion tuned too high or low by the Maestro. I love it all. Thank you so much
Bravo por éste joven director !!! y estar frente a semejante orquesta !!! Bravísimo ...
This has become a premier symphonic organization. Bravo..
What an amazing piano and also beautiful viola sound in the 2nd movement! One of the best performance I've ever heard of the 7th. Thank you for sharing.
My favorite one of the players is the golden girl with the golden flute. "die goldene Dame mit der goldenen Flöte" (according to Google translate or "La dama aurea con flauta de oro" according to my own translation.
She is Clara Andrada, from our beloved España. Excellent flutist and soloist.
Wunderbar! Vielen herzlichen Dank für diese wunderbare Musik!
I have to proudly say, it's the best orchestra at the time. BRAVO!!!
Ah!
Fantastic director, fantastic orchestra! Beautiful images. What a tribute to this beautiful Beethoven's symphony (one my most préférées)!
Extraordinary sound recording using instruments of the era, as in Beethoven’s time . Great young director. Each of soloists were amazing. Love the sound. Great
These are so-called "original instruments", then??
@@richrol58 their natural brasses (Specifically mainly natural horns and natural trumpets) They were the instruments during Beethoven's era

I'm only a beginner in listening to classical music, but the second movement is one of the most beautiful and moving pieces of music I've ever heard.
The speed and power of the last movement brings tears to my eyes..incredible music..awesome performance.
Love the natural horns and so impressed by their playing especially at the end of the first movement!
They have the best principal flutist. Now I only want to listen to her. I can’t wait for her to release some solo albums!! Please!!
She is truly marvelous!
She does very well indeed

LA PERFEZIONE. Kleiber Muti Abbado Bernstein Tielemann anche Bruggen sono pallidi propositori. Tempi perfetti, messa di suono perfetta, concertazione perfetta, acustica perfetta. Grande Maestro. Grande orchestra. Grande Auditorium. Grande registrazione. Orgoglio tedesco. SUBLIME.
vielen Dank... Maestro und Orchester
Excelente versión. Orquesta y Director muy buenos. Bravo 💪
Wholeheartedly THANK YOU for such a magnificent performance
@@jakeplonk888 That is their criteria and it is very far from mine.
@@neryfernandoarangodomingue7280 bueno no me lo esperaba a la gente del foro que le dijo al gobierno que se le
ALWAYS give a standing ovation at every Beethoven performance.
As great as the second movement is, the other movements, especially the first, deserve to be better known.
I believe people remember the first movement more
