Hey Carson.... Interesting information. Brave lad, flying with a sensor bank disabled. I'm thinking black gaffer's tape might work a bit better than blue painter's tape. Would not suggest electrical tape. Might leave an adhesive residue behind. Might check that also, using the other two tapes. An adhesive residue would have to be cleaned up, prior to next flight.
Tony
Tony, money isn't an issue for Carson, haven't you seen his backyard?
Full sized basketball court, perfectly lawned grass. he's rich lol
Thank you for the input Tony! I hadn’t thought about the residue left behind from electrical tape. I would have liked to use gaffers tape, but I recently ran out of it so I didn’t have any to use in this video.
*his parents
Still easier to fly than a fpv drone that u have to hold throttle to hold altitude urself.. and doesn't return to home if u lose signal
one thing id recommend, stick two pieces together so there is no sticky side, place that over the sensors and hold them down with tape. this way the glue does not touch the sensors and get them sticky to collect dust or anything
Very descriptive demonstrations....Valuable information! Thanks Carson!
I like your video's Carson, No fancy splash screen or intro, Just straight into it. Well done my friend !!
The way I've found to do the dangerous backwards through/over/close to things shot is to do it forwards and then just reverse the footage after in whatever software you prefer. As long as you're not going over something where a motion change would be really obvious. Like waves, or traffic. :D
Thanks for this Carson!
Great tip, I'm trying to go for cinematic style and that's a great way to achieve some very cool effects. Will try it! Liked and subscribed! Thanks a lot!
Love the tips, all the way from the UK. Thanks
Thank you so much, i thought of putting tape on before seeing this video but didn't know if the sensors would sense the tape and the drone would go straight up
Thank you
Great vid
Very useful information thank you, my family just got the Mavic mini, it’s amazing 😉
Babe where are u
I used gorilla tape because of it's opacity. I can't remove it now. LOL, just kidding, great video again!
I can't get over how amazing that grass is! Props to you!
I enjoyed. Learning every day.
I found this out by slicing my fingers wide open trying to land it on my hand 😂
Been there done that
What with these flimsy props?
Slicey dicey
@@generationfunk try it they will cut
@@dredaboss505 fair enough, maybe with your delicate hands, my bad
Very informative, thanks for sharing I subscribe to you thanks again 😎
Cool review and led to purchasing the Mavic Mini and setting up my channel! Thanks!
Did you buy the Mavic mini before the mini 2 came out? 😂
Very interesting. Thanks
Looks like a useful feature, especially for those people who like to send their drones through a bunch of 'hoops' or obstacles haha. Great video man 👍
For sure!
Nice info bro, tq
Very Informative
Boss...
That's a huge backyard Oo
The bottom sensor is mostly used for positioning INSIDE/Indoors. The GPS is used to lock positioning outdoors
Nice idea, thank for it. Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
This makes sense. I will try it. I have tried twice now to land it on my hand while on a boat on the pacific coastline of Panama. And I can't for the life of me land it. Hopefully this works. Thanks!
Nice thank you sharing
Thank you so much
Great explanation👍🏻🇸🇪
@ 2:10 ... “and thirdibly..” Hilarious new word you made there !
:)
thanks for this vid:) i was curious how it realy work :)
No problem! Hopefully this video explained it adequately for ya
Great video big like;👍👍👍👍👍👍
Atti mode disables gps so you have complete control. Winds will take it so you gotta be aware. This was why many on older DJI drones thought they were having fly always when in reality the drone switched into atti mode.
Hope that helped.
On some DJI drones your bottom sensors can be on and still be in atti mode.
Yeah it's why people think.they get fly aways to this day-GPS didn't lock in yet when they took off on bad winds
Watching from philippines❤🇵🇭
Thanks for watching Raffy! I appreciate the support :)
Hi Carson - I watched another video on how to do this and then tried flying through a rock arch about 3ft high but crashed. The next time I try it I think I'll use the prop guards. Cheers!
bro how did you make this quality video on utube is so good
Mines coming in soon cant wait
Mines not coming ever!
Very good guys 👍👍 an done.....
Hey great video! I just got the Mini 2 and was wondering how it does indoors as I will be using mine to shoot promotional videos in a manufacturing building. I would think ATTI mode would be best as I tried this with our Spark and every once in a while it would lock onto GPS and switch between GPS and ATTI mode which made it really unstable.
Quality content once again , very refreshing to watch your vids . I've got the mini and recently got the air 2 and it rocks . You need to get one and rock it out of the box 😀👍
👀 there may be one in the mail with my name on it....coming soon ;-)
You only get ATTI mode if you have no GPS position. In true ATTI mode the drone won't break, you hold it in a hover and it will drift with a breeze. You just have P-GPS mode as it used to be called.
Excellent
Thanks for this Carson. Need to put my Mavic Air 2 into “atti” mode for a flight assessment, and the only info I’d found involved reverting to an old app status and hacking the settings - which I can’t imagine is going to go down well with DJI if I have to make a Refresh claim. A bit of tape that can come off after half an hour is a much better option.
Now I just need to check if it works for the MA2.
Does it work? I need to fly inside a 4 story building and it would go over 10ft because of no GPS
Peter, please give us some feedback, is it working with MA2?
good information
Nice hack! I want to fly my Mini is very tight quarters about 6 inches off the ground. But I’m going to put prop guards on to protect against minor collisions.
Or, tape a small piece of folded foil maybe? Just a thought.
Sounds easier, you could use regular scotch tape, and don't have to worry about getting gunk on the sensors
Bought a dji mini se today, i had a go at it in side my house tonight.. it was about to hit a wall so i grabbed the belly of the drone and to my surprise it tried to escape my finger grips. Man i was holding on for dear life as i ran out side with it trying not to get clipped by the propellers.. it all makes sence now
Nice video!
Thank you very much 😃
Hey brother! Thanks so much for the vid!
May I ask if you ever found out why the Mini landed automatically without you touching the remote, at the end?
Legal meu amigo, um like e mais um inscrito
Nice hack to fly in altitude hold mood. It’s a shame they don’t have a setting in the app to switch to AH mode. Great video, and thanks for sharing.
Watching Mavic Mini videos as my Mini is stuck in Memphis TN with FedEx for 2 days now on clearance delay..
Nice can you vlogg how to maintenance and clean dji mini.
7:02 there's a snake on ya basketball court mate
Actually two of them 7:51
Nice
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it David!
💥💥 Hey Carson Always great content. At 6:30 if you just push forward and not up and the ground gradually goes uphill will it eventually crash into the ground.?? Thanks. 🤟🏼
Great clear videos Carson...keep up the good work 👍🏻
It uses GPS when you're outside bro.. That's why it hovers in one spot so well without the sensors..
Indoors there is no GPS and so that's why it tends to hover in some direction all by itself..
Sweet
That VPS is used indoors.
Without it or on bad light this drone drifts hard
Could you reduce the number of tape layers if you first run a strip of aluminum foil over the sensors first, or add a strip after the first layer of tape? I know it works pretty good covering IR sensors or emitters. Funny the drone doesn't notice the sensors covered up and just beep or something and not take off! Great idea though.
Very smart. That would definitely do the trick if you ask me!
Hi, may I ask what program you use for the video editing? It is cool.
thanks
It seems when the sensors are covered it behaves like a Phantom 3 does when in Position mode! I feel it is not true atti mode however as the GPS is still enabled so it will try to position hold when there is a GPS fix. Indoors with no GPS - yeah this would be full atti mode - I think the Mavic Mini even gives you a screen warning to say it is in atti mode when you fly indoors with the sensors covered, worth checking out.
its not atti mode its just vps disabled
Nice lawn
I want to know if the mini can still maintain emergency flight if it were to break or lose one prop, and by "one prop" I mean one side of a single motor. (Seeing how there are two props per motor.)
Great job in which camra shot this video
I shoot all my videos with the Panasonic G85. I film in 4K, so that’s why the videos are quite crisp. I love Panasonic cameras for 4K as they never overheat, they have a pretty good output IMO, and they have a good nice flip screen to see yourself on as well.
Hey Carson thanks for this video I have a question. So is this Addie mode like the Addie mode on the phantom three pro? Because in that case I disable the GPS and I really enjoyed flying and Addie mode sometimes. Because the drone was so smooth and it would go with the wind in you know you can Let off the throttle and it was just kind of coasting so many words. Anyway just wanted to make sure you were talking about the same thing or if you’re not that’s OK too. I have a Mavic pro I don’t have my hands-free call anymore. That was my first drone and I love that drone. I know the drones today are much more technologically advanced in the phantom three pro but my phantom three pro did almost everything I needed to do. I really miss it. What happened is I crash it and it was all my own fault. I didn’t do a proper preflight and what I missed was the return home altitude being sent to zero. I don’t know how it got sent to zero but it was sent to zero. So I flew a drone deploy mission where I was mapping a new residential neighborhood in Phoenix Arizona. I was doing it for fun. When the map emission was done my drone started to return to home and immediately started descending. Well due to where the drone was and where the sun was in the sky I couldn’t see my drone until it was probably a quarter-mile away from me and it was coming right at me and descending rapidly. It hit the ground about 100 feet in front of me down staff the pavement rolled over on its back and slid right to my feet. It never flew right after that. I even tried having it professionally repaired and it just didn’t work. So Les and B learned anyone reading this make sure you do a proper preflight every time. I’m a private pilot and I would never fly a plane without doing a preflight and I don’t know why I decided to skip my preflight this time on my drone.. Probably because it’s just a drone I’m not getting it myself. Well I learned my lesson.
Thanks does the mini 2 have these same functions
You must have been really young when the original phantom came out, it had a true atti mode and it was terrifying.
I remember! I was scared to switch to that mode.
Cool shirt
I think you are not really activating Attitude mode. I say that because you still have GPS. So it wouldn't drift. It won't be so accurate with it's position close to the ground but it won't drift very far because the GPS holds it. Where it really activates Attitude mode is inside a house where the lighting is poor or you have taped the sensors closed AND there is no GPS signal, then it goes into atti mode and will really drift. Just something that I wanted to mention. But good video and although I don't think it is fully in Atti mode, it is still useful so good video.
Can you make a video about flyaway what is about thanks 🙏
Hello my friend please make a video how to disable flight altitude on mavic mini.. Plsssss
Hey Carson, when I cover the bottom sensors of my DJI Mini 2 and take off, it will just go up vertically forever until it hits something (like the ceiling or tree). I haven’t tried in open sky yet. Any idea why it won’t hover??
Could the same close to the ground effect not be done using the zoom feature with the camera angled down slightly and still have the safety of the sensors working normally?
can we take quick shots at the time of desable sensor ?
I used reinforced concrete with rebar to cover my sensors but now my mini weighs 16,347 grams.
Nice!
Of course, how else would you do this?
@@82airborne319 Of course! I was told I need contact lenses, but I'm having a hard time picking out the frames! Seriously, loved the video!
Does this help with going higher in a school gym??? Trying to get a nice shot of the gym floor for the school but the steel framing makes it so I don’t get any GOS Signal.
what flight control app do you use?. i bought the litchi its cool but i havent figured out the tracking mode.
Sport mode disable the sensors too!
Foil tape will works best but fold over because adhesive is incredibly strong. Then use painters tape to adhere to drone. No adhesive residue on sensors nor drone.
Oh, I know what attitude mode is. That how I crashed my mavic in the first week
Mine mavic m just goes up and up and up, I belive he think that something is under it
Welcome in the club
How about using some PRESTIK to cover the sensors?
hi carson with the dji mini 2 it just go's up and made a hole in my roof i think dji saw this video
Are you positive that is Atti mode? In true Atti mode the GPS would be disabled and you would be drifting a lot more than what you are experiencing. All you did was to disable ground positioning in my opinion. Its great and seems to work though for what you were after.
Hi Carson, I’m looking to buy a DJI drone but I don’t want my footage to show me holding the controller when flying it. Do they have some kind of self flying mode or something? TIA 😊
I am going to get one
It’s a great lil drone
what video editing software do you use ?
just curious because is having a hard time with tracking things in filmora :P
I use Final Cut Pro X. There is no native tracking built in, but there are many paid tracking add-ons that you can purchase - I personally have bought some from a store called Pixel Film Studios
Errr is that a snake I saw as you brought the drone backwards? good video though.
Snakes didn't ship with your DJI? I'd write in and complain! Mine came with four!
It's either dead, or tape.
Got mine today. Eh crashed into the wall twice. Had to replace 3 props fml. Also had a piece of dust or something show on the camera sensor so I see a black line on phone screen got rid of it with little shaking. How many crashes little incidents have you had? Trying to make myself feel better. Thanks
Does it disable the gps like other attitude mode for dji drones?
Tenho um truck que filma do chão, o MM comprei para filmar do alto. rsrs.... brincadeira a parte, fica top o razante.
Would it not be possible to press the sensor icon on the go fly app. Then go turn the feature off?
Wow! so amazing bro! 🤩
Hi mate, I have a iphone 6s plus with a Lifeproof case. With the case on, I'm unable to connect the genuine DJI lightning cable. So I purchased a genuine Apple lightning to USB camera adapter, and a Micro USB cable to connect my iPhone 6s Plus to my DJI Mavic Mini remote controller. When I connect both those after market cables, it looks like my remote is blinking all 4 LED's, like it's on charge. And I get an error message "RC not conected". However when I connect my genuine DJI lightning cable to my phone, after I remove the Lifeproof case, I have all functionality. I don't want to keep on removing my casing as it may break. Which is why I'm trying to connect these 2 aftermarket cables. Any suggestions or ideas as to why my phone and RC not connecting? Thanks for your time.
Hi Carson. I've had a Mavic mini for one year now. And I've viewed all of your videos over and over. Now I'm moving on to the mini 2. So. I'm selling the First Mini. And obviously need to delete everything I've put on it. Before I put it up for sale. I'm an old guy, And very techy stuff goes over my old head. Can you describe in old man's terms what I need to do? I can't wait to get the mini 2.
Thanks in advance Dave in the UK. cheers Carson
Thanks for supporting the channel! Sure I can help ya out! Really all you’ve got to do is remove the microSD card from the rear of the drone (right below the battery compartment) which is what contains all your videos/photos. DJI has no way of restoring a Mavic Mini to factory settings, because all configurations are stored/linked to your DJI account. So, you don’t need to worry about resetting anything. The next owner will be able to just plug their mobile device in and link the drone to their DJI account without being able to access any of your flight records/data. Hope this helps! DJI Care has left the chat
Just a small piece of foil taped to the underside works. No need to layers upon layers of tape!
Yeah Kool. Seems like the "ATTITUDE MODE" hack should really be called "CRASH MODE"......lol....
hey does RTH work with this hack?
I want real atti mode when I can drift with the wind, ie. No gps positioning to hold to an area at 80 meters.
I wanna get one lol
Hi bro how many sensor in this dron please?
