- 👋 Lets see how much power my brand new 2023 Toyota Supra paired to the 6 speed manual transmission puts down on the dyno! I have been enjoying my new manual transmission MK5 Supra so much lately and just wrapped up installing many performance modifications! But with the advanced ECU of the Toyota Supra, do these bolt on parts ad any power? Or do I need to tune the manual Supra to get the full benefits of the bolt on parts?
So in this video I visit my friends at SOHO Motorsports to put my manual 2023 Supra on the Dyno! I did put my stock wheels back on just to keep things consistent with a bone stock manual Supra. Overall my car put down 394 wheel horsepower and 410 wheel torque! The B58 engine in the MK5 Supra is very underrated and makes way more power then the claimed 382 HP and 368 TQ Toyota states the B58 engine makes.
Current Mods:
MST High Flow Catted Downpipe. AWE Touring Resonated Exhaust. Armaspeed Intake. KIES Charge Pipe.
Overall I don't think the bolt on parts ad much in terms of power. They do make the Supra sound amazing and really wakes up the fun factor. But the stock ECU is designed to push out stock power. It uses torque table to limit power and produce stock numbers regardless of external circumstances or conditions. We do all know that once you tune a B58 Supra, these wake up and make 500 WHP and well over 500 WTQ easy!
So at least I have a good baseline dyno run on my car with all the mods and once I dive into tuning I can see how much power tuning ads!

I got a chance to see a white Supra in person, it looks amazing. The videos or pictures don’t bring out the looks of the Supra. Once you see it in person all the BMW gripe will fly off the window. It looks fantastic!

I've had mine since February and this car brings in a crazy amount of attention lol. Haters online can complain about the looks, but I can't drive it without waves and thumbs ups.
I saw one on the show room floor and had to get one. I'm now a proud Tsugsten Grey A90 owner.

Awesome, I have the 2023 MT as well, and those are the bolt on that I’m going with, so it’s nice to see what kind of power it will make. Thanks for the vid. Atm I’ve only put cosmetics on my like fenders and spoiler. But looking forward to putting some performance on it soon.

Yeah stock for stock this one makes 45 more WHP and 10 more TQ. So will be interesting to see what tuning does for this engine and transmission

For sure! The MST pipe still offers all the same power gains with tuning that a carless pipe can do. Great setup!

Thanks! Yeah I'd like to try out one of the JB4 tuners or something similar. Definitely an affordable and much easier options before ECU tuning. Would be cool to see what those do
I can tell you, jb4 base maps are terrible on the manual supra.
And unfortunately, the known tuners that provide custom maps via jb4 for the auto supra are refusing to tune the manual supra due to multiple cars having issues.
I'm currently running jb4 on mine, and the base maps are 100% no good. I have yet to see any tuners with success on the manual supra yet.
I'd say you're better off putting money towards femto unlock.

Would like to see what the jb4 can do. i have a white a90-mt with full bolt ons as well and been debating getting the jb4 for the moment until femto unlock. if you review the jb4 and it does good numbers on the dyno ill more than likly go that route for awhile
Would love to see you try the JB4 and not only show dyno numbers, but would also love to hear driving impressions with it. I have heard, people love the JB4 power, but not how the throttle feels. If you do tune...are you going to femto unlock?
Yeah for sure! I'd like to test something like that out and see how it feels and then see what power it makes. Yes when I do ECU tuning it'll go to Femto and be used on BM3 I believe

@@JamessssssssssSupra Nah, just PPF and a few cosmetic things. JB+ is my only power mod now. I run a couple gallons of E into 93 since I'm at max setting. Function Werk catless DP goes on in a few days.
Would definitely be interested in seeing a JB4 video. Im taking delivery of my manual in early July and I dont want to clone my ECU, so definitely interested in what a JB4 can do with some bolt ons
Get a custom map 6 tune for the jb4 and you'll be making some gains. Especially with downpipe
Can’t clone MT DMEs anyways. But BM3 has come out with CustomRom and a flex fuel kit so… also talked to one of the very best JB4 tuners on this car and he said to save my money for an unlock.

There were a ton of fast Z’s! The black 2013 Nismo was the same one I sold when I worked at the dealer. Was such a fun car even when it only made 650 whp 😂
Is the awe resonated annoying loud or is it a nice balance? And do you have alot of drone?
It's the perfect balance. On the highway there is no drove. And anything in the low revs just cruising the car sounds very tame. Under boost it opens up and rips! I love the blend with the MST Catted downpipe and this resonated touring. Perfect setup for my taste.
please try jb4 first or mhd to show the different type of progression the car has with a piggyback tune before actually going into custom tune. i have the same exact car and want to see how much power i can get out the car before having to unlock the ecu for custome tune.
JB4 is a waste of money.

@@chrisginoc Nah bro, it has its place. Obviously its not a proper flash but its a fraction of the cost, and you can easily achieve 60+whp.

I never had my GTR on the dyno when it was modified. But its for sale now all stock, so I won't be having it on the dyno regardless
I have a 2023 A91-MT, and a JB4 installed on map 2, waiting to get a custom map. But I would really appreciate a full video on it, because the closest dyno to me is 2+ hours away and i want to see what the supra can do without me having to take the ECU and ship it overseas lol

I have an A90 6MT. After unlocking, how much horsepower do you think our stock manual clutches can handle before needing to change them? 500hp max?
Yeah I'd think 500 would be about the max. So FBO maybe E40 would be the max on it. One local shop just did all that and did an upgraded clutch with that setup

@@chrisginoc E40 should get the HP to over 500 to the wheels with stock turbo. My old Supra added 100 WHP with just tuning and bolt ons tho. Went from 350 to 450

I do use GoPros for my reviews. Our full reviews I have two running on the inside. But this was just a quick clip going in a straight line. Easy enough to hold the camera
Is it considered safe to run the bolt ons (exhaust, intake, catted DP, charge pipe) without a tune for a bit until you get the car tuned?

So you're saying it's safe to run full bolt on's for the time being with a stock tune without it blowing up? I came from the WRX platform and you couldn't do literally anything but a catback without having to tune it.
A lot of people online running full bolt ons without issues for many many miles. The issues start happening when people go hard on flex fuel, bigger turbo, messing with internals, etc.

Absolutely. Nothing wrong with these parts at all on this car. The MST catted downpipe doesnt throw a CEL or anything either. So it perfect. A catless downpipe you can even run with no tune. You'll just have a CEL. Subarus are pretty finicky and don't seem to handle power. The Supra ECU is very smart and can compensate to always do the right things.
Yeah once you do flex fuel or turbo upgrades you definitly want tuning

I could. But it's probably better to just get a clone ECU since it's still factory. You'd probably have a lot more work a cost to go standalone

Depends on what all you're doing. But $100-$200 would be a good range

How much power do you think the clutch and transmission can handle? I know when Rick Deman bores out a Porsche GT4 motor from a 4.5L from a 4.0L he changes the clutch out
From what I've seen, about 500 WHP and 550 WTQ is the max. So full bolt ons and E50 is about it then you need a clutch

Does the downpipe throw CEL? I heard if it starts throwing codes it could cause the car to go into limp mode

Other brands aren't as good and you might have a CEL. But if you go catless you'll get a CEL

Not yet. Need to ship the ECU out to get them unlocked for tuning

Eventually. Not sure when. Being a manual I don't really crave more power out of the car. It's so balanced stock to be honest.

Well...your car has an intake, DP and exhaust, correct? Not exactly *stock* but stock-ish.
Stock tuning is what I'm referring to. All as mentioned int he video the goal of this video was to get a baseline with all the bolt on parts and stock tuning to see how much the manual Supra makes with them. I've already seen stock part manual Supras on this same dyno. If I ever tune the car, this will be my baseline
Will a full tune avoid warranty?
Depends. Technically the dealer would have to drive the tuned caused an issue. Most likely if you had an engine issue they wouldnt cover it since they would blame the tune. But other parts of the car would still be covered since they are un related. So depends on your dealer and how stingy they are
Why not go with BM3 instead of JB4
If I did a JB4, it'd be just to test it out to film content on the gains. Then I'd do BM3 with custom tuning

BM3 is giving MHD a run for it's money with the new custom rom. The only cool thing about MHD is you can flash it back to stock which I think you can't with BM3. Either way yes Brosfourspeed, send to Femto and unleash more power.

HOW DID U UNLOCK YOUR ECU ?
As mentioned in the video this is all stock tuning. I havent dove into the ECU tune yet. However many shops do unlock them. ECU gets sent over seas for that

Does the Mk5 Supra not have an intercooler? Or is it water cooled that it’s just not necessary? Lol
Intercooler is integrated with the intake manifold on the b58.
It's in the intake manifold :)
I think I've seen someone do an air to air kit. But stock seems pretty efficient. Easier to just upgrade the intake manifold with a bigger heat exchanger
@@BrosFOURRSpeed for sure the stock integrated intercooler has less lag in boost. Forgot where i saw that explanation
The radiator is massive to cool engine and as a intercooler.
Benifits are you have full boost at idle for launch with no car movement for airflow needed.
Also the fresh air pipework is MASSIVELY reduced that increases response. As I understand from F1 engine designs.
