    If you have a A90 / A91 Toyota Supra with a locked ECU / DME You may be considering a Burger Motorsports JB4 Tuning box, A viable alternative to costly unlocking then tuning with BM3 or MHD and with claims of 100 bhp certainly worth thinking about BUT are those gains realistic? I put the Zeroyon Supra on the dyno to see what realistic gains you could expect if you buy one on map 1 and map 2 compared with standard

    you can get 100 HP if you custom tune Map 6 with boost by RPM, fuel enrichment adjustments, WG duty cycle adjustments and so on which is what makes the JB4 so awesome. The gains with Map 1 are great in itself and that is the lowest map. The best feature on the JB4 is that it doesn't rewrite your ECU tune, you can turn it off and you can remove it from car to car if you want as long as its the same vehicle.

    JB4 rides the octane.....i.e. knock sensors. Splash some E in it and watch the numbers climb. JB4 does tons more than map 1 and map 2. It has boost by gear for the first 3 gears, additive meth control, P.I. control and if you splash about 5 gallons of E in it is a different car altogether. You have to add the octane to get the numbers. JB4 is octane sensitive because as you add the boost, the timing is more and more aggressive. My wife runs around on map 2 for daily driving and throws some E in it on the weekends. JB4 is a tuners delight if you use all the features.

      Absolute truth. Well said. i have had the JB4 on 4 of my vehicles, 2019 Genesis G70 3.3T, 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.0T, 2021 Ford F150 2.7 Ecoboost and now my 2023 Hyundai Kona N 2.0T. It makes a huge difference even in Map 1. The N Hyundais have octane learning with 93+ US Octane fuel and will bump boost by +3 PSI, so even with Map 1 octane learned I get 22 PSI!

    I think the 100hp is up to if you do custom tuning with the jb4 with mods, definitely not for map 1 or 2 which are mild tunes. I had a jb4 and I have had flash tunes on my cars over the years. Fuck jb4, get a flash tune. JB4 is pretty inconsistent. JB4 can only trick your ecu into doing a couple things. Flash tunes don't trick anything, it just works like it should. Flash tunes also control vanos, coolant temps, throttle response, and a whole lot more parameters the JB4 cannot touch.
    Either way your warranty is gone. If you think you are going to just remove the jb4 and pretend nothing has happened... Good luck. BMW has had shadow codes for the jb4 for over 10 years, you're busted.
    If you can afford to buy the car and mod it, don't cheap out.Get the femto unlock and go mhd.

    Great video. I have a 2022 Z4 M40i. I'm looking to go JB4. I've seen a lot of reviews that say the standard airbox setup is more then good enough for the JB4 tune (I'm not after more induction sound). I'm also in the UK and want to go the down pipe route. However, I'm concerned about the check engine light that's associated with a catless downpipes. Also, how it may affect MOT's. Can you let me know why you went completely catless and how it will affect MOT's going forward. I know there are different versions of the downpipes with varying degrees of cats inside. I'd appreciate your help selecting the right dp based on the above please.
    Thanks in advance.

      Hi there, in short I am prepared to put my catted downpipe back on for MOT, I wanted to go with a downpipe simply to get the best power out of the car possible however there is a problem here in the UK - if you remove the downpipe and the OPF in the exhaust it will go into limp mode due to the torque limitations, in short I had to send my ECU off to be unlocked then run bootmod3 so I would strongly advise just keeping the OEM downpipe

      @purefkingmagic2391 Год назад +1

      Stock '21 supras in USA make 390-400ish at wheels- gen 2 b58... So 405whp is not impressive from jb4. Have had it on a '21 and '22 and never happy- gains minimal and very inconsistent performance with throttle closures. Adding catless dp makes performance worse also - due to DME mapping and over boosting occurs and causes massive throttle closures to try to control boost. Sent DME to Femto for unlock once bm3 custom ROM was available in May of this year and there is absolutely no comparison between the two, DME flash tuning is only way to go if you are wanting true reliable and consistent gains. +100whp is easily achieved- add wmi, catless dp and ethanol and 550whp is within reach with stock turbo.
