I agree that one should think of clothes as a collection as opposed to pieces that you are trying to make sense of. Sometimes when I’m bored with my clothes, I wear my hair differently or change my makeup and that gives a different vibe to my look.
Got 3 words for how I want to feel in clothes, and 3 words for describing the clothes… I want to feel tall, womanly and elegant, by wearing loosely tailored, monochromatic, long lines. Remembering this keeps me right when I’m shopping… especially the feeling words, lots of lovely cool items out there but they don’t make feel those things 🤷🏻♀️ so they are not coming home anymore
You look absolutely gorgeous Emily, you remind me of Alexa Cheung. I feel excited every day about getting dressed since I lost weight four years ago thanks to a whole plant food way of eating. I have maintained my slim weight so I rewarded myself by investing in some great clothes that are modern but also timeless and I will wear for years. I desperately needed to update my wardrobe after being fat and depressed for decades. At 58 I feel good about my body for the first time in my life and it's like being reborn. There have been some great clothes in the stores this fall/winter, I invested in amazing jeans and corduroy trousers and jackets, also a velvet suit from Mango which I even managed to get cheaper from Asos, great boots that are comfortable for my wide feet but also look elegant. I've even started to wear medium heels for the first time in my life, which add a bit of height to my petite frame. My clothes are not expensive but I take care of them and they last me for years. And yesterday I bought two lovely belts from TK Maxx at a great price and they will elevate my capsule wardrobe which I would describe as simple modern chic. But summers are not long in London so I have decided to buy less and make do with dresses, skirts, tops, etc. that I already have and only buy the odd item that I really love as my wardrobe is getting full! My motto is restyle, rewear, relove.
I always appreciate quirky wardrobe pieces… like equal parts nerdy & feminine. My most-worn items all have a common thread: a modest neckline with added interest (eg. ties, cool buttons, pleats, bows, interesting sleeve shape, etc.). The trick to having a ton options, in my opinion, is curating great basics and adding the personality with my accessories.
Thanks Emily… I love dresses and it’s too hot here to wear much pants and jeans… how to curate a small wardrobe with just dresses plse? It’s hot here so layering with jackets will not be practical…. I’d love to cut down my wardrobe but can’t seem to… it seems boring to wear the same dress all the time…
@@stephanieg2000Same! I picked a handful of solid (not print) dresses in classic silhouettes: fuchsia a-line, navy button down, black halter, teal shift / column, etc. Then I add a little quirkiness with fun accessories.
Whenever I see something I now shop my wardrobe before buying. Always a good idea to check first. I tend to go for pieces which are versatile and can be worn with a variety of other pieces. Thank you for sharing this video 🙂
What a great crash course you have here! I immediately checked to see if you have a corresponding blog post. I did do a screen shot of the self-reflection questions, but it would be great to have all the steps in one easy spot. :)
I switch my wardrobe out depending on if it is spring/summer or fall/winter, and I love it. I found that if I am craving new clothes, I tell myself to wait until my switchover because it feels like I have a new closet and the urge to shop disappears.
You look so pretty in this top! Especially with the hair style. Feminine while modern. I am getting closer with a curated wardrobe. Still refining some details, but feel a lot easier to get dressed and feel good. A lot of this was from watching your videos!
I put away my seasonal clothes but didn’t think about doing this for items I rarely wear! I also yoyo between size 6 and 8 so always put away the size I’m not and when I am that size again I have a stash of “new” clothes!
Thanks for watching guys! 🩷🙏 do you have any tips to add for if you start feeling bored of your clothes?! Leave them below xx

Love your channel! Seeing you wear your large shoulder bag prompted me to try wearing mine again.

I like to wear mainly dresses, I make them fun by playing with shoes, accessories, handbags, and different hair/makeup. Hope that helps. :)
