This is so good. I couldn't afford this cd or to travel abroad for a concert, since I live in Ecuador, but I would come after school and patiently wait in front of the tv for a channel that would play music videos, because they would often play this one. I love this band so much, they genuinely defined my teenage years.

The lead is harmonized noise, the base is just ape. The drums are strong and constant and the lyrics are just so real and heartfelt by so many. An all time classic.

i doubt the furs are the suing type but listen to the furs songs 'it goes on' and 'danger' - almost identical intro's to this one
starman714 I can tell Keane put the backbones to both of those tracks together, it's just that as overall songs go, Keane's version is much better and more of a wholesome sound to it.

This band keeps achieving good results in spite of their shortages whose reasons are mainly the fact they have to play without a guitarist and the possibility of sending some different sounds by managing only synth and piano. I think we should utterly praise them even if someone else might object the work supplied by the politic managing over guitar and bass. We had the proves that a band gets appreciated in spite of a different rig, furthermore the skills are proper to vary your outcomes, there's nothing to turn down.
Check out morphine: A guitar as a bass with 2 strings a saxophonist and drummer, that's it!

Fun fact: there are no guitars on the tracks on Under The Iron Sea. Tim plugged keyboards into guitar pedals, which was quite an innovative approach at the time!

I remember this from the time (I was seven then). The charts didn't really go shit until about 2008/9 (recession/Jacko's death).
Having reviewed every UK number one ever, 2006 was the only properly good year in the 21st century (2000 was good, but it was in the 20th century as there was no year 0).

I feel like Keane was always slightly overshadowed by Coldplay to a certain extent (similar time and genre), but man, they have some really great songs! Love how they leave so much room in their songs for the bass to really come through. A lot of their songs are just piano led and not electric guitar led, makes a big difference.
