Just seen Keane at the O2. I haven’t listened to this song for about 20yrs. Something about this song hit me like a sledgehammer.

Really enjoyed Keane's recent appearance on the One Show including live performance of this great song, Tom's voice is compelling and melodic. Definitely up for their latest album..
This song was a favourite of my mum, who is still alive. She loved this song about about 18 years ago and she still knows it. Sadly, she has Alzheimer's now. She remembers the song, but hearing it makes me cry. The words like "so little time", and "trying to make a move just to stay in the game" bring me to tears. She has struggled, so much of her life has changed as we have gotten older, moved away, she had to retire from a job she loved etc.... and she was "just trying to make a move just to stay in the game", but she couldn't.... it breaks my heart, but she still smiles and sings when this song comes on for her.... Everyone, take care of each other, your parents and yourselves x

I herd this song 2 weeks ago for the first time, in 2022 😄. I should say it doesn’t sounds like song from 2003 at all. It’s amazing song and ahead of its time 👍
When this song was released my Dad had just been diagnosed with dementia, it hit really hard as to him every one was changing but he believed he was the same. He also loved this song. Brings happy/sad memories to me every time I listen to it. A true masterpiece despite being written about a totally different subject.
20 years or so since it's release, and it's just as nostalgic and introspective as it was then.
I just hope everyone's feeling good and having a good life.

Went to see them live last night, 4/05/24. And I have to say they were one of the best bands I’ve seen live. Brought back so many memories from when my parents used to play their songs in the car. This might sound like hyperbole, but for me this is one of the greatest songs ever written. It always reduces me to tears. I couldn’t listen to it for about five years as a result, now I think it’s just important to let the tears out. So that’s what I’m currently doing again. Thank you for summing that feeling up so completely, so I can return to it whenever I feel disconnected and my life is slipping away again. It’s such a genuinely beautiful song. Thank you Keane.

Today (18/02/2023) this song started playing in my head. My partner of 14 years is changing and no matter what I do, I don't think I can stop the inevitable happening. At 50 years old, you'd think you'd be able to control "feelings", but it goes to show no matter how old and experienced you are in life, it still hurts and you find a song that relates to your situation....this is mine.

Nice ! So that, what, 2007 ? the year my girlfriend and I went to live under the same roof for the first time. It still last, one kid and 12 years later... "Everybody's changing" and "somewhere only we know" are Keane twin jewels, most beautiful songs in the 2000's. Love both, equally.

It was the soundtrack to my divorce and seeing my then 4 year old daughter move back to her mothers home town 65 miles away.. she's 18 now and I did get to see her grow up..but this album seemed to be the only thing we agreed on in 2010. 10 years marriage and all the time before that just erased. And every time I hear this song I'm right back there wondering if my ex will be difficult over my access, or bring negative influence men into my child's life. Luckily neither happened. But everything changed alright.

It's funny how music can so strongly relate to a certain time or experience in your life.
2004-2005 I used to work as the day shift ops manager at a remote industrial plant a good 90 mins drive from my home city. 'Hopes & Fears' was on repeat in the car during that time. 15 years later and this album will always be connected to my daily commute back then. It was a hard and demanding job but I got to work with some of the finest and toughest men in the business, the camaraderie was strong, and by the time I left I'd made a number of long-lasting friendships. It was a good gig. I miss those days. This song and others from the album take me back right away.
This is really beautiful. My memory of this is not so poignant - but rather, being 18 years old and having this quiet sadness about approaching adulthood, and with it the dampening of my still pretty wild feelings.
Nice to read your experience of this. I never really talked to anyone about how deeply this song hit me - but looking through these comments here, I see clearly that I was not alone :)

As someone who has created, filmed, and edited videos, this is exceptionally well done. That was simply the visuals, though. As someone who has been involved in music since I was 5, the music is on another level. The dynamic beat, elegant lyrics, smooth instruments- all of it. Everything about this video is a masterpiece.

En mi época, yo salía de discotecas, y era feliz era lo que más feliz me hacía, ahora ya no tengo eso, no tengo ganas de vivir este presente, es que es todo, se sumaba la play uno, se sumaba la buena música, se sumaban las buenas tías, ahora es de vergüenza y de pena y salir es perder el tiempo.
