My son was carried in his coffin with this playing. He was 27 and the biggest Muse fan ever. Four songs played at his funeral and all of them Muse 5 years later and this is the first time I’ve had the strength to listen to it again My daughter and I have silver lockets with his fingerprints embossed with the words ‘never fade away’ Can hear him in my heart playing his guitar full volume to this. Listening to this is like a dagger going through my heart but needing to feel the pain. Sleep tight x
It's one of those songs where you kinda choose what it means to you. To me it's a song of hope and positivity. The lyric of "I just wanted to hold you in my arms" is simplistic but so touching. Sometimes you do just want something or someone in your arms, who doesn't?
This music to me is just my ounger years. Some of the music from that era didn't hold up necessarily well and some absolutely did like band and this song. Even the stuff that maybe didn't age well i get clouded with awesome memories from car rides with mom, dad, sister. Hearing these songs when they were new i can still remember where i was when i hear them. 2000s music isn't my favorite but they probably give me more goosebumps then almost any era because i can almost relive those memories in a way.
To me the words, 'Far away, this is boat is taking me far away, far away from the memories, of the people who care if I live or dive', speaks volumes to me. Lived on my yacht for 25yrs, I won't die at work or on land. My anthem.
I remember when I first heard this song in the mall as a child. Went home and found it right away. I miss the days 🥹 and it hurts to know that I will never get those moments back. Appreciate your memories while creating new ones because one day you’ll look back at this day and it’ll be a memory as well

@@atomic_skyy The only time I flew somewhere was 13 years ago, so I have a lot to make up for as far as traveling goes. I've traveled extensively inside my country, though. Anyway, you're a strong soul and I'm sure music helps immensely.
This song feels like the last letter my my father wrote before his passing. It plays after a visit to his grave on the radio often; as I leave the cemetery. It’s always the first song to play.
This would be like the perfect credits song at the end of a heart-touching movie. Like imagine the ending and then it cuts to black for 4 seconds and then rolls the credits with this song playing. Perfect.

This song is the theme song of a friend I made who lives halfway across the country from me. She introduced me to Muse, and since then I've always called her Starlight. Further more, this song and she were huge inspirations for me writing my first book, The Ascendancy: Symphony of Embers! Thank you Muse for being awe-inspiring and so much more!
They played it when i saw them live. Massive stadium, 60 000 people clapping and singing together to this gem. It was phenomenal. Memories that will last a lifetime
Very true.. I'll always remember my father playing it in the car. It reminds me of our good times, when we were still close. I can't tell where things went wrong at this point
I still remembered when I was a 6-year-old kid back in 2007, I listened to this song from a radio in a car at night with my both parents sitting and driving in the front seat while I was laying down in the back seat. This was an experience that will never happen in my life again since both of my parents are not beside me anymore. Thank you Muse for this nostalgic song for me that reminds me of the good childhood days :')
TheSingingPug I was listening / watching Glostonbury 2010 last week along with Drones new album. Starlight has been playing in my inner ear since then. This video is so cool. I'm a former marine geologist. Nothing like being at sea on a big ship at night. The entire cosmos at your fingertips. You can feel the Earth moving through space.
I'm an American from Arizona and I love Muse. Their music is awesome. I really love this song as well, that piano melody is beautiful. And the fuzzy bass line is addicting!

Muse is good, but Muse on stage is epic. I bought a ticket to go to see them with my mates and I was skeptic at the time, but as we say in my country they "sat me". Eyes and mouth wide open.
Watching Muse live in Melbourne in around 2001 or 2002. They sounded just as epic live. People throwing roses onto the stage. This was before Starlight was released. I went to see their side shows and their mainline at the Big Day Out festival in Melbourne. I am blessed to hear this music still. ⭐️ 💫 💜🌻🙏🏼🦋
This song was released 3 days before I was born. Always heard my dad playing it since I was super young and always loved it, yestarday night my dad picked up me and my friends from the mall and when we got in the car he was playing this song, I hadn't heard the song in probably 10 years and had forgotten about it until I heard it last night, very glad I heard it again🙏
Just the idea of getting on a real ship to give a body to his verse "this ship is taking me far away" fking brilliant. Makes you imagine what he left behind
This is still my favorite Muse song. It's sweet, exciting and uplifting. I don't care if it's simpler than other songs -- sometimes the simple things are best. The melody is just beautiful. The drums are awesome. The bassline rocks. Great video, too.

I can't imagine what you are going through. You are not doomed though. Our body is just a small part of who we are. Otherwise, in the end, we are all doomed.
I remember having the piano part stuck in my head all through gymnasium (high school), yet kept thinking it was Coldplay. After rewatching The Tourist this year, I Shazam'd the song, and got here.
Same, im nearly 15 and su1cidal and these lyrics hit hard because someone I loved took thier life on April 19th. I feel like this song just makes me want to go back in time and tell the lyrics to him. But its too late (sorry for the vent)
@@JaeTaylor-uv6iuThat's heavy. Hang onto that. I know it is so hard to lose people; I've lost too. Life is worth living in spite of that, we must go on living. Suicide is not the answer, it poses more questions, ones that you may be familiar with, like "why" and "could I have done anything differently," I don't want anyone close to you to ask themselves those questions. Life with all of its ups and downs, the brokenness and everything is still worth living because it is a gift. Lord bless you and keep you. If I can help in any way, do not hesitate to reach out.
My beloved Angelica gave me this song. She passed away three years ago, and it's always brought tears to my eyes, good & sad, since she gave it to me. RIP, Angelica, always loved, never forgotten!
I'm old. I was a teenager in the 80s. This band very much reminds me of the British new wave music of then. It's got a very similar sound and style. Makes me feel nostalgic!
When I was young, my mum lost her husband to suicide. This is one of the songs that really lifted her spirit. That was in 2006. I was 11 years old. Now I'm 20
Just saw Muse live for the first time at MK last Sunday. Loved every minute of it. Been a fan since Black Holes and Revelations and this track is the one that got me hooked for life
One of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. Made me cry too. These words. Intense. Beautiful. Crushing. Entwining. Inspiring. Hopeful. Desperately yearning. Just, wonderful.
I can’t believe it has been fifteen years since this came out. Such a great song. I still service regularly to it. Thank you Muse for giving us such great musical masterpieces.
I moved to another city this year and listen to this song on repeat since days before my departure. And now i still listen to this song whenever i miss the people i claimed i love. Whenever i heard good news from them. Oh i just want to hold you in my arms❤
Dude I randomly clicked on this song jus because and when the melody starts I suddenly know this song is a forgotten classic I've heard once and liked it, maaaann I'm so happy to have found this great old track! :))))))
This song was played when i worked at a fireworks factory on Malta. I am a pyrotechnician. My girlfriend broke up with me at the same time. The song and the fireworks in the video makes it special to me. Just the combination.. what are the odds
I was always the type of person who would sit and listen to music on the radio. No names, no title, no nothing. This song is one of those songs that always lingered with me. but didn't really know the words. Only the tune. Now that I am older and took the time to start looking up music, I realize how much rock is in my soul, and how much I love it. It gives a whole different feeling that R&B and Hip Hop. Just so soothing. Makes you tap your feet on the floor, nod your head, your heart drop. I don't know. maybe it's me, or I'm over exaggerating, but.......I just love it.
Demerria P I feel ya. I think that rock artists feel a little more happy or get a feeling rather than hip hop or pop aritsts. You're bringing a new sound, your own creative sound in your music as a rock aritsts and feel happy with yourself when your bringing this to others. Not that hip hop or country or pop artists don't feel exited or happy while preforming, I just think that rock can pack a new sound in every song.
insert cancerous username I got you completely. Every music type has its own feeling to bring to others. Like, there's a dance for every genre, but they're not the same moves. Maybe that was a bad analogy. Oh, well, I dig this song in so many ways, and music such as this. It's nice to know there are people that feel the same way I do. Makes me not feel so alone in the musical genre. I think I'm more comfortable. I can sleep at night now! Being around people who listen to other genres more, makes you get touchy about sharing music on your phone. Haha.
I worked on this ship as an engineer officer in 2014. MV ocean chi is the name of the vessel....haha the highlight of my company then was that Muse had performed on one of their ships.
I remembered 2 years ago when my heart was broken, listening to music, crying and falling asleep but waking up to this song playing on my phone. Then I realized "Damn, after all this things happened in my life, I still alive". Now, I'm going through my depression listening to this song again. I hope everyone holding up alright.
Same here, i got utterly destroyed by the person I thought loved me the most, it's like if everything falls apart and nothing seems to matter anymore, but I'm starting to remember the things I used to love and enjoy before and this song actually was one of my favorites and that helps a lot, good luck on your journey too.
This song brings so many memories of my friend Nicolas. We use to listen to this song all the time. He passed away in 2017...RIP My dear friend....Our Angel now
Ikari Tetsu it's not the same. There are different moments in your life listening another kind of music with your friends. Jazz and classical's music forever, but it's nice to remember when you was fool & young!. Muse brings me great memories.
I remember the very first time I heard this song on the radio. The DJ was playing it (apparently for the first time) and had asked the audience to vote on it. Well, I thought it was one of the most amazing things I had ever heard. I was instantly in love and mesmerized by it. Imagine my surprise when the DJ announced that the audience “just wasn’t feeling it”. I couldn’t believe it. Seriously, this song has so many cool things going on with it.
Hard to listen to Muse as my MadMuser best mate chose to end his life a few years back and I’m only just starting to listen again. Rest in peace dude, your legacy of checking in on mates has continued
Full Starlight Lyrics......
Far away
The ship is taking me far away
Far away from the memories
Of the people who care if I live or die
The starlight
I will be chasing a starlight
Until the end of my life
I don't know if it's worth it anymore
Hold you in my arms
I just wanted to hold
You in my arms
My life
You electrify my life
Let's conspire to ignite
All the souls that would die just to feel alive
Now I'll never let you go
If you promised not to fade away
Never fade away
Our hopes and expectations
Black holes and revelations
Our hopes and expectations
Black holes and revelations
Hold you in my arms
I just wanted to hold
You in my arms
Far away
The ship is taking me far away
Far away from the memories
Of the people who care if I live or die
And I'll never let you go
If you promise not to fade away
Never fade away
Our hopes and expectations
Black holes and revelations
Our hopes and expectations
Black holes and revelations
Hold you in my arms
I just wanted to hold
You in my arms

My dad is the one who got me in to Muse. I feel you.

I see this name everywhere honestly
I still remembered when I was a 6-year-old kid back in 2007, I listened to this song from a radio in a car at night with my both parents sitting and driving in the front seat while I was laying down in the back seat. This was an experience that will never happen in my life again since both of my parents are not beside me anymore. Thank you Muse for this nostalgic song for me that reminds me of the good childhood days :')

Exactly Muse is one of the best live bands ever
It's just pure bliss throughout the entire show
Especially when they play Bliss.
i used to like Muse a lot, but since i went to last year show on Chile they become my favourite band, so yes, on stage they're epic
im agree with u. on stage they are amazing
Sorry but your father is a crack addictecd

Just the idea of getting on a real ship to give a body to his verse "this ship is taking me far away" fking brilliant. Makes you imagine what he left behind
Snow Den you stoned?
This is still my favorite Muse song. It's sweet, exciting and uplifting. I don't care if it's simpler than other songs -- sometimes the simple things are best. The melody is just beautiful. The drums are awesome. The bassline rocks. Great video, too.
I totally agree!
100% Love this song

I can't imagine what you are going through. You are not doomed though. Our body is just a small part of who we are. Otherwise, in the end, we are all doomed.
I haven’t heard this song in nearly 10 years and woke up today with this in my head. That’s gotta say something about this band.
That’s definitely saying something. They know how to create some good music for what it’s classified as. Well thought out lyrics, instrumental, etc.

Hello how are you doing it’s nice meeting you here.
You know is one legendary song when you come back after 15 years and people stills like this masterpiece.
Demerria P NOT that pop music artists don't make. creative music, I was just venting a thought.
insert cancerous username I got you completely. Haha.
I had edited my comment 3 times because of your username. I thought I had a glitch in my phone. 😂

I dream of a day when Rock once becomes king instead pop, and it will be Muse with an album that blows away everyone that kick starts it off
Finny Muse has already made albums that will blow everyone away, just not everyone has heard it yet
It is, if you can be assed actually looking for good music there's tonnes out there being produced
Finny never gonna happen. Pop stands for popular music. If that was so then rock would be changed to the name pop
Listen to Jazz and Classical then. Good music still exists.
