I was 5 years old when my parents got divorced. At the time, they listened to a lot of Muse. In the car, when they were arguing, those songs were playing in the background. I hadn't remembered it until now. Starlight, Undisclosed Desires, Uprising... I had almost forgotten them, but today, rediscovering them hit me so hard. Me and this song has history together. During 2019-2020 I spent a year and a half in jail (Rikers Island) awaiting trail for a crime I didn't do. During my wait in that hell hole of a prison. As a person living in Turkey, listening to this song fulfills my heart with anger and hope at the same time after all the vicious, disgusting things that the government do even in times of the huge earthquake which is taking thousands of lives. These kind of songs may be just a bunch of enjoyable rock beats for someone else but if you live in a place where you face evilness everyday, in where you think you can't trust official instutions for donating your money for people suffering from earthquake, you get the spirit of it very quickly and easily. I cannot tell the meaning I find in the line "Another promise, another scene and another packaged lie to keep us trapped in greed."

Medical payments are a lifetime debt-sentence, so is any reasonable amount of education, and that education likely WON'T get you a better job. The "Lobbying" system has been around for decades and decades and is just bribery by a different name, fueling the military-industrial complex while our citizens go hungry, homeless, and barely scrape by even IF they can get a job. Homeless people rob stores for $1 so they can go to _jail_ for a warm bed and free food they wouldn't have had any other way. The younger generations CAN'T AFFORD to have kids, and the rich keep prospering. Companies hit record high profits and thank their overworked minimum-wage employees with a few donuts and NO RAISE. Pollution keeps rising and half the government tries to convince us it doesn't affect anything while storm activity rises, killing thousands each year.
The world is rotting at its core, and the black filth is drowning the majority. The storms will keep tearing society apart, and that's when the people must rise up to take back our power.

Uprising WAS the song my daughter Roxanne who is now Deseased as of April 02/2019 introduced to me . Every time we were on the road driving this was our song . We sang it loud and proud . I now listen to it with my 2 grandkids Lexi 14yrs. And Alex 9 years old and , we do the same clapping and sing this song in rememberable of her . They have themselves Rose ( UP ) in despite of their mothers passing. We have a play list we stick too . I'm trying to send you guys our family song but at 51 I'm unsure how to do so. Me and this song has history together. During 2019-2020 I spent a year and a half in jail (Rikers Island) awaiting trail for a crime I didn't do.
During my wait in that hell hole of a prison. I was treated with such disrespect, talked to and locked in the cage as if I was an animal and attacked by the guards/pro-team officers. However everytime I heard this song play on the radio it gave me motivation, gave me courage and gave me faith that I would be out of that place one day and due to COVID-19 and then the Floyd riots I was released and is blessed/thankful that I have finally found this song that kept me going.
