    One word for early Findhorn,,darnaway. Like the bottom beats of the spey they run through and start to show in May. Used to fish nairn for years(excellent once you have the key) now back down south and fishin lune sea trout and occasionally liddle water(vastly underrated and under fished,,,,,,excellent.

      @@abakerslife real low water for about 2 months at the height of the summer run , the fish couldn't get past the riffle above the broom pool, they reckon there were about 10000 fish in the broom.N it great angling by me it was just a numbers game, couldn't nit catch fish.

    Great footage! You're living like a king. You have a good dog, good food and a fine river to meditate on. I fish for steelhead and landlcoked salmon in NY & VT and I know how tough it can be fishing for and hardly ever catching "springers." Of course, [we] early birds know that's not what it's about, right.

      Good stuff , it’s very accessible in terms of fishing and camping. You can get a state license for holiday for 28 euro from most tackle shops or online.
      Obviously some cheap beats and some expensive. The river errif conamara is 70 uero for a day but a beautiful river Owen Ed by the state. Good run of fish from may -,august.
      And obviously the Blackwater cork big river. Or the Bandon . You can drive the wild Atlantic way . Camp on most beaches park up most anywhere.
      Loads of great rivers on your way.
      Good craic and friendly folk!
      A good trip would be driving across to roslare and going across to the river Blackwater at lismore Waterford and across cork, river bandon or the Lee over to Kerry Killarney and around the pininsulas sneem , to Waterville. Check out the mad fisherman vince Donnelly you tube. Funny guy . If you had time up to lough Corrrib Galway and around the coast road in to connamara . From there up rivers errif Owen more loads of small spate . Up to river moy beyond that river ballysidare sligo. River duff Sligo and a must is the river drowse Sligo . Onward to Donegal and river Finn. And the Owenee
      There’s a separate license for the north with brexit unfortunately.
      Any way. Maybe to much information lol I love it to it’s been my passion from I was a lad . A great watch is the riverman Ballyduff , coney Cochran nice man on river Blackwater. Also unwinding Glenda Powell . Anyway good man keep her lit ✌🏻

      That's invaluable info and just what I need, thankyou. I've listened to the Ireland on the fly podcast from day 1 so have a good list already of some of the fisheries I would like to visit. I'm a big fan of Vincent the mad fisherman too so a visit to Waterville will have to be on my itinerary.

    Little tip for you, salmon run a lot faster up the river at high water than reg or low water. How do i know that. Lots of salmon with radiotransmitters here in Norway says so and i have no doubt the fish there does the same.

    Hmm from what i can see when you are casting a reg spey or underarm or whatever u want to call it you need to use the right hand less and get more speed on the left hand pull and aim a bit upwards like for the tree's in the background. It will give you less resistance from the water and more linespeed and longer casts when you get used to it.

    • @abakerslife
      @abakerslife  Год назад

      Yes you're right, thanks for the tip. I can see it when I watch myself on video. I use too much right hand though I was purposely aiming low because of the wind. On that note I picked up a skagit line to use when it's that windy. Haven't been out to try it yet though.

    • @MrKveite1
      @MrKveite1 Год назад +1

      @@abakerslife I use the skagit line all summer since i live by the river Gaula and it's a big river where presentation VERY rarely mathers, longer casts than the rest mathers however since it gives me angle on fish most others cant get because they dont cast long enough.
