Magic river
Awesome video. Congrats to the fish 👍👊
Great video but have to echo some of the other comments here about the handling of the fish. Why beach them on the rocks and risk damaging them when you have a net at your disposal? Surely the better way would be to net the fish in deeper water, release the hook and then set them on their way?
Maybe you make a fair point. With grilse I just try and get them in really quick and often I find in my experience that netting a green fish is tricky so beaching them is usually the simplest and fastest way to get then on their way. Looking back I probably should have netted them in that case because the river bed as you point out was stoney and not that suited for beaching. As for the forceps yes you are right I always have forceps with me so should have used them instead of 'farting' about with my fingers. I'm not sure why I didn't but sometimes in the heat of battle our judgment is not always perfect and I made a poor decision in the moment. Every day is a schoolday though so I'm sure next time I will be sure to be more careful. Thankyou for taking the time to highlight my errors.
As said great your catching fish but you really need to stop them wriggling on the dry rocks when you have a net at your disposal. And why waste time farting about with your fingers to get the hook out when you also and evidently have forceps.

Brilliant Rob as always 👍👍🍺
Cheers mate
Great back up to part one👍thanks for sharing, best of luck on the next trip 👏👏
Many thanks glad you enjoyed it
What rod and line do you use?
I was using a Hardy nsx ultralite 13'6" #8/9 with a Rio outbound scandi line
Thx..
Hi mate, cracking fish!! Well done! Just wondering if you would share where you got the silver Zelda fly you used in the last video from? Thanks very much
Many thanks, I tied it myself its's a very simple pattern just a small plastic tube with a black thread body, a silver rib and 4 boar bristles as feelers.
Great stuff Rob. Next season am think about getting a season ticket for the boarder esk. Thinking back I first came across your channel when you were on one of there waters think it's the river Lindle. Please correct me if am wrong. Your more than welcome to join me for a grayling session on the river Irthing
I am getting too unsteady for salmon fishing now. I was lucky to have a few red letter days in my 60 years of salmon fishing 🎣 it was nice to accompany you on a lovely bit of the Findhorn
Fantastic trip. Well done. That looks like a place I wouldn't mind blanking on! Lovely river and scenery. (Always better with some silver though.) It's raining here today, so hoping for a lift on the local river.... Tight lines!
If anybody deserved fishing like that, you do! Well done. I missed the cooking though.
get yourself on the river Eden cca is bouncing with fish big fish too from the solway upto carlisle city centre up to motorway nobodys fishing it
Stunning river. Is that the Rio trout spey line you're using?
I was using a Barrio switch line. I have a friend who raves about the rio trout spey line though
Class Robb let’s get a springer hunt up there next year!
You can handle that rod mate I can’t get use to the double hander at all, well done nice fish they are hard to come by
Oh! Well, you got that right. The trinity is a dialectic. 2, the father and son may denote difference or division or all things being pulled apart. 3 includes the spirit or unity where it's all for one and one for all. It doesn't make anything or anyone "equal," just that they are meant FOR each other. Like your tackle. Dismantled a rod is not a reel, a reel is not a line and a line is not a lure. But because they've all been designed for a common purpose and for the good, joined together that's what you use to fish. Note how a sacrifice has had to be made. The singular self solitude and isolation of the father is overcome when he's confronted by the other, the son. That dualism is then transcended in their being for the other or their unity. JC was a communist. Karl Marx says much the same thing with a few modifications. The singularity and the dualism are ways that don't stop at that. Unity is the 3rd way. Like that old nun said, "There's more to fishing than catching fish."
Nice water. I thought it looked a little low. At least by my standard here on the Rogue River, Oregon. I could get use to wading in that river. And of course those beautiful fish you are blessed with and quite adept at finding and landing. 🐬
Good video but don't like to see the fish dragged on the bank, esp when you net them safer! I may also be wrong but first fish was that a treble hook used? Don't recommend that for catch and release.... (As new folk to Salmon fishing will be watching this, lead by example). But still nice to see you taking the time out to make these videos.
Simmer down there sparky
Then do not fish for these creatures, it is hypocritical to comment on such things. It is no better than then the barbless brigade who condemn you for using a barb in an effort to protect the fish, but then they still fish for them!
@@JohnRitson78 really? Yes fishing using barbless does cause damage also. But when I ever fish I would not beach a fish, and a treble hook does so much more damage than a dbl or single. The more we do as salmon fishers to cause less stress to the fish the better. (I understand a fish on the end of line and hook is stress for them). I am not a tree hugger, just thing in this day and age esp for conservation and education more should be considered. !
@@GordonGraham-xc8nf I kind of agree and disagree in one way. There is no happy medium to fishing, regardless, I aim to release what I catch.

Thankyou for taking the time to highlight my errors. -as for using a treble yes I use do use a small treble as my go to hook like 99% of other anglers I know but to be honest have never had a problem before. The only time I ever killed a fish inadvertently was when I was experimenting using a larger sized single hook and the fish swallowed the fly.
Why stick a hook in a fish that you are going return, for me thats food
Why comment on something you no fuck all about then you can only kill one fish a week so how can he kill 11 in two days for food? Judgemental wanks in here I’m afraid
All hen fish must be returned. You can keep two cock fish a season only and they have to be under 8lb
@@stommac5517 some folks just can’t help take the high ground even when they have no idea what there talking about
Atlantic salmon are too cool to catch only once.
If I could I would happily take every fish I caught to eat but that isn't the world we live in in the UK. You might say that we shouldn't be fishing at all if we have to fish catch and release but then if anglers weren't fishing for them do you think salmon would have any chance of survival at all? I rather suspect that sadly with no one watching they would very quickly disappear.
Well as a very critical Salmon angler I'm disgusted... no sauce on ya sandwich...who's Jealous? 😬
Great videos nice bit of catching many more to come
Love your vids but could you not have netted those salmon in deeper water rather than them bashing against the rocks and out of water?
Nice to see you still catching, definitely a river I will fish next year. Thanks mate 👍
How jealous am I, great fishing. Hoping for a good end to the salmon season.
Well done Robb. Fantastic fishing and scenery , a trip to remember
Great follow on video still catching 🎣🎣🎣
Hi m8 great video can i ask did you have a tip on or was it a straight leader
Cheers, I was fishing a 15' intermediate tip
Spray your dry fly with silicon.

Excellent video Rob. What a day you had, definitely one to remember. Well done 🤘🎣
Many thanks mate
What a day mate well done 👏
Many thanks
Excellent fishing and video Rob, well done and well deserved, lovely to hear that reel 'sing' and great to see you getting in amongst them!
Many thanks, a fat stroke of luck for once.
Amazing day fishing 🎣 what line do you pair with the Oracle rod? Casts a dream
I use a Barrio switch 6/7 on it and it's a pleasure to cast.
Thank you I have just got an Oracle and looking to pair a line up 🎣
Well done! That was a great bit of fishing Rob ,lovely pools even in low - water .Definitely a river I would like to fish what beat or pools where you fishing ?
Thanks, pure luck though. I was fishing Drynachan, I don't remember the names of the pools though I'm afraid.
Amazing memorable day, that will keep you going for a bit! Well done.
Many thanks
Thanks for sharing, as previously said, no background music etc just someone enjoying the day and at peace with the world.
Glad you enjoyed the video
Well done indeed. Bullied them in so they went back easily. Love the clips of the takes, it’s just like it is. Nice one.
Many thanks, yes I'm playing my fish a lot harder these days for just that reason
Days like that are very rare these days. Landing salmon single handed is hard work.
Well at least I had my day in the sun even if it never happens again.
Great day fishing mate had a 18 to 20 the other day have the video up on channel
Looks like you've had a really good year
@@abakerslife yeah mate have 28 and lost 19 so far this year
That was amazing a terrific day. You will remember that day for ever. Tight lines from AUS
Thanks Norman, tight lines to you.
Well done Rob, what a great day's fishing. Red letter day's like that don't come along too often. Good to see you in the right place at the right time. Brilliant
Many thanks
