Another lovely fish Rob well deserved bud, The River Coquet looks a fine river i have been watching a few of your vidoes there some lovely looking water and it all just looks really fishy with some great water for swinging flies.
Cheers, when the water is up there are miles of lovely fly water on the Coquet. I'm lucky to be not too far from it that I can fish it of an evening after work.
Rememeber to always put the head up against the current because if the current comes from behind the ghills actually cose and the fish cant breathe properly, exept that good stuff:)
it's not the end of the world but we want them to have as high survival chance as possible right and as a plus you can teach others to do it right along the rivers and through watching your vids saving even more salmon that otherwise might die from badly executed C/R.@@abakerslife
Nice drift and swing on to that one Rob. Cracking pool. Iconic. Upstream release will give you a faster stronger get away every time dude - 😉😉 top angling dude. Good season for you. Thx for all the content. Your dogs a proper scout now too.
Nice video. Very well done. Neat how the dog went downstream and found a spot to keep an eye on you. Do you ever think of doing a Spiral Single Spey rather than two Switch casts to get the angle change . All those extra casts add up at the end of the day.
@abakerslife if you think your days per fish ratio is atrocious for last year then I won't tell you mine..... Worst season I've ever had salmon fishing last year. Here's hoping a better one starts in a few weeks time.
You guys had it hard up there but I suppose it's character building! I'm sure 2024 will be a good year but then I am a delusional optimist so make of that what you will.
@@abakerslife That place you got the salmon is a beaut. I used to commute into Newcastle from further up the valley. I'd sometimes pull up in the lay by at 6am and have a few casts. Sit and listen to the sound of the river. Priceless. Best wishes Rob
great vid mate, but can i ask why you pointed her downstream when returning? I was taught to always point into the current to get them to recover quicker and better.
It wasn't intentional to be honest. I guess I lost my bearings in the moment. The pool where I released the fish had no flow so I sort of didn't naturally orient myself into the current. I will be sure to remember next time, the point has been well made. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Thanks, it's a GoPro hero 9 but I think the lens was scratched by that point in the season so it looks like I smeared vaseline on it. It was not without its quirks that camera but still did a job. I've got a hero 12 to try this year.
Brilliant again Rob well done 👏
You're a MACHINE Sir!! Pumping out some content!! 👏👏 It's been a really enjoyable series!! Well done on your fish!! Great looking tail of a pool! 🎣💪🙌
Many thanks, it's been keeping the cabin fever at bay but I'm starting to feel the itch to get out now though.
Well done, the Coquet is a lovely river.
Many thanks, it is very charming

Heart warming return! Thanks for all the videos which have lifted me out of depression after such a lousy season in Wales!!
I have heard it was desperate in many places. I'm lucky that my local rivers are suffering less than some others.
What a great way to finish the season!
What a moment mate , thanks for sharing . Felt like I was there.
Many thanks, I got the same feeling watching it back while editing.

I will remember next time. Lost my bearings on that one.

Great video. Congrats to the fish 👍👊
Thanks 👍
Congratulations on a lovely salmon!
Thankyou, that's my favourite river to get one from.
What a beauty. You had a much better season that i had last year.
It was hard going but I was lucky that I get to fish more often than most. My days per fish ratio is atrocious!

Well done !! Well deserved. Good to have some water without a wind stripping the leaves into the river- here's to next season.
Thanks, I for one am looking forward to a good season.
haha.1:08 I honestly thought that was a black bear on the river bank. great content as always Rob. cheers
Thanks, if it was I would have kept on casting because I knew there was a fish in there for me.

Another cracking salmon
Cheers

I love the croquet brilliantly productive river
It can be when it's in the mood but I'm a long way from cracking the code on it.
Great video Rob, please tell me what camera are you using ?

Great video mate. Which beat is that?
Thanks, Rothbury forest, NAF
What set up ( flyline and leader) have you got going on there Rob? Is that a Skandi line and slow sink polyleader?
It would have been a Barrio switch line (very good value line) and an 8ft poly probably 5ips.
well done
Many thanks
Good pool my dad said he has had salmon and sea trout from there
It's a lovely pool but that is the only pull I've had in there. I've always fancied it though.
Are you using an oracle rod by any chance?
I am yes, the 7/8. Great rods
Thanks! Gonna go for one to start my Salmon journey I think 👍🏻
You couldn't start with a better rod. I use a Barrio switch line- excellent value.
@@abakerslife Thanks man, it’s hard to find info like that, appreciate it.👍🏻
🎣🐳👍
Hi Rob… which beat is this?
Hello...Pauperhaugh
Thanks Rob. I’ve not looked at that water yet.
Good for when fish are running
Hopefully see you up there at the back end this year
What a result. Stunning animal.
