I LOVE Sam Parrett's fonts (Set Sail Studios, who made La Luxes) and it's always wild to me seeing such great quality stuff put out by just one guy! Rajesh is similar too; so many talented independent typographers making variable fonts, or tons of ligature sets, at such a great deal for little designers like me. We gotta support these guys at all costs!
Personally, Epilogue and Montserrat are my personal instant go tos. Like sure, Montserrat’s kinda everywhere, but it’s so darn versatile and so clean! I also like how Epilogue is more condensed and just as versatile too. Recently, I’ve been using a slick font called Commander for a design, and I really like it.
My current favorites are .... Bree Serif, which I used for the entire rebranding of the company I work at. We develop software and Bree is used for the new company logo as well as all the logo for each application. It's combined with Roboto in the appications, for content. Button labels and page titles also in Bree; it's corporate yet friendly, with lovely sqare serifs which perfectly suits our work field of the social domain. I love Bahnschrift but need to fnd the first fitting project ;). It's condensed, rounded, has a vintage feel to it. Amazing. Lastly, for my personal gaming channel I chose a font that wouldnt neccesarily be a personal favourite but it fits the theme well, especially how I used it in the logo. It works great with super tight overlapping kerning as video titles.
@@willpatersondesign Thanks! I noticed I forgot to mention the last font for my youtube channel logo: it's DejaVu Sans - Condensed Bold --- because I find regular bold too wide
my most favourite font is Univers by Adrian Frutiger...i like the clearness and readabilitiy...or it is just because I'm swiss and proud that some of the best fonts ever came from Adrian Frutiger 😁
I'm still early on in my career, but I mostly work with police department signage and badges and it's almost always comes down to a few fonts. Usually Franklin Gothic or Arial Rounded. But sometimes I get to do custom designs and this helps me get more ideas about what kind of fonts look good for setting specific tones or moods. Thanks~

Thank you for posting this video, as a graphic design student I really appreciate your content. You actually gave me a fair bit of ideas for the font regarding my retro sci-fi poster. There is something about Humane, NOIR Pro and Roc Grotesk fonts that just will be perfect for the project.
It depends on what look you’re going for, but I would personally suggest something like Akira Expanded for something more modern, or Lobster for retro :p I’m not will, but hopefully this helped :)
I work in education so accessibility is everything. My go to is calibri but I will defend any person who uses comic sans purely for its readability especially for those with dyslexia. One day I'll get around to combining comic sans and calibri into the perfect balance of clean design and readability... One day...

My favourite font family of all time is the Druk family, mainly because the family ranges from condensed to super wide and is just visually appealing

What typeface ISN’T retro. Calling typefaces retro shows ignorance of how old OLD typefaces are.
