Thank you for explain it I look everywhere to explain me in short what is SLA printer but no luck and then I found this video it really help me to understand it
Hey Katie! Thanks for the video. Great explanation. I really wanted to fully understand how SLA works, didn't get it in detail until i found your video =)
I was about to ask some questions about how the 3D printing with polymers after watching your last video, but this answered everything I was curious about! I've got a friend in Italy who is working on providing low cost 3D printing machines for 3rd world applications, the technology they use seems a bit different (cnc metal flow machines and such) but I believe that this kind of thing is the future. EDIT: you should list this under educational!
oh cool, I didn't even mention the polymer. that's a pretty interesting part of chemistry. I wonder how 3d printing can help other parts of the world...one amazing thing I've seen is for endangered wildlife. people have made working prosthetic beaks and shells for birds and tortoise 🐢
In China they were showing off what an industrial size 3D printer could do by making houses from 3D printed materials, the house looked pretty amazing and it only took 15 days to assemble (here's the article if you wanna check it out 3dprint.com/82322/chinese-3d-modular-homes/ ) it's stuff like that that make me believe as this technology becomes more advanced, it'll be used in everyday routines. *Crosses fingers for Star Trek -like replicators* EDIT: as for the 3rd world applications it's really up to your imagination, things like prosthesis's , vision glasses, machinery parts, heck even somethings simple as sandals can make a huge difference.
I wasn't sure if I liked your videos after watching a couple, then you made a David Bowie/Flight of the Conchords reference, and then I was okay with you ;D (btw, you are very informative and put excellent effort into creating visuals so people understand things better. Thumbs up)
Aw thanks. My earlier videos and some recenty suck but this is part of the golden period where I thrived. Appreciate you knowing my inside reference, it was for someone like you ;)
Some printers are named as DLP-SLA ...LCD -SLA Printer... IE DLP uses a projector. LCD uses array of LEDs And in few cases laser source is used. All are used to perform the SLA method right?? What's the difference?
I got so many questions. Does it auto refill resin? Their site says it holds 20 L. Is that possible? The resin tray claims to be very durable. From what I've read, trays cloud up over time. Requiring replacement. How is this tray different? What is the clean up and maintenance like? Do you keep the resin in the tray after use?
Thanks for the informative video. Can I ask if you know whether or not there is a dead space between the cured layer on the build plate and the clear film in the drum? If so, do you know how large the gap is or does the resin get cured flush with the drum's clear film??
I would like someone to explain to me why only the surface of the fluid cures with exposure and not a column from the bottom of the resin tray to the surface, or just the bottom of the resin tray, doesn't cure instead. Or does the model float one layer from the bottom of the resin tray?
Thank you for your awesome video. What was the brand name and model of that printer? How much Is it? How much is 1 liter of resin?where can I buy it? Thanks alot
Masturboy84 no, that's actually why I used the puzzle to show how it processed the object. There might be a program that would do it but I don't know. The puzzle is called "3D sculpture puzzle" and whatever they used to design it would be what you're asking about.
How’s the material? Does it feel like a clear Poland spring water bottle or a gallon of water which is not translucent? And is the material safe? Thanks. Love the video
The thinner the piece you print it becomes quite fragile. Using the UV light after (the one in the video, it's actually from a beauty shop made for curing nail polish) makes it stronger. I would compare it to something like glass or an ice sculpture. I printed some millennium falcon ships and they were quite sturdy because it was a solid piece.
My goodness it took so long. many of the pieces took 6 - 8 hours and it took like 2 weeks to get them all printed. It would have been easier if I had the printer at home though, I use the printer at the lab where I work and that can slow things down quite a bit.
Katie!!!.. I wanted to be dramatic with my intro:).. Ok, before I address the 3D print, let me address that shirt. Nirvana rocks!.. What's even better is you have the name on my favorite color. I love blue, so I give you mega sexxy points!.. Ok, I've never seen 3D print in action before very interesting. Have you or are you allowed to make anything you want?.
yeah I can use it for whatever I want, biggest obstacle is finding a printable model of my idea. and also it takes a long time. The hip bone for example took nearly 12 hours to print. other parts took 4-8 hours.
+Little Katie Sorry to get back to you so late. The weather over where I'm at has been hot and I've been trying to survive. My that is a really slow process but the end result is worth it I'm sure. You gotta think long and hard about the idea or else it will be a waste of time and money. when you do have an idea let us know I'm interested in seeing the end product... P.s. Do you still make those Metal Earth figurines?
+Pete Flo yes I still do metal earth! it had been a while because I spent several weeks making a stop motion movie with a bunch of tanks and copter. just published it, a big relief to have it done too.
This is easily the best video I've found which clearly and simply explains what 3d resin printing is. Thank you so much!
Finally a good video that explains Resin Printers. This is the only video that shows the inside, or bottom, of the printer where the UV light is.
one of the best tutorials I have seen recently... to the point... clear and visuals! thx
Thank you for explain it
I look everywhere to explain me in short what is SLA printer but no luck and then I found this video
it really help me to understand it
This is the Best resin printer Explaining video i have ever seen
You video gave me a clear idea about how SLA printer works? Thanks for the video
Hey Katie! Thanks for the video. Great explanation. I really wanted to fully understand how SLA works, didn't get it in detail until i found your video =)
Thanks. Made it super easy to understand for noobs
Very good explanation and love the jar jar print 😁
Thanks Katie, I always wondered what all the supports were for. =D
Nice intro. What is that skeleton of and how do we get it ?
Very cool process indeed.
Great video! Up until now this seemed like dark magic to me, thanks for the explanaition.

this saved me and my paper's grade
Elizabeth Perez oh that's awesome!
very good explanation, thanks
Anyone who makes a dinosaur skull talk is cool in my book :)
This is perfect and it solidifies wanting to get ome
Thanks. Very informative.

A really informative video. Thanks so much for making it!
My pleasure! Glad you found it useful :D
Great explanation. Ty
Very Interesting and informative, thank you!
Great video
Great video thanks ✌
Very good info lady
Damn girl very informative. You look so pretty 💜
Thank you! I made that a few years ago but I am still as much as a nerd lol
how does the laser not cure the resin in its path to the part?
Nice video, well explained!
Thank you! Very well explained!
Thank u so much for the explanation
Hello congratulations for the video, could you give me the STL file of the dinosaur? it is very beautiful and I would like to print it
Same I want it to

i have a moonray, great printer
I'm learning!

awesome explanation...spanx.
Does it support solidworks model's ???? And what price of this 3d printer...

You are awesome Kattie!!!
gee golly thanks ^_^

Thanks.
I'm not into 3D printing but i'll try that program to see if i can export and print some of those layers. Do you think that will work?
print them in what way? not sure what you mean, the slice all by itself like the cardboard puzzle?
Yes. That would be useful, but can you choose a particularslice/layer and save that alone as an image file?
Masturboy84 no, that's actually why I used the puzzle to show how it processed the object. There might be a program that would do it but I don't know. The puzzle is called "3D sculpture puzzle" and whatever they used to design it would be what you're asking about.
Thanks. It still looks interesting anyway.

I am getting mine sometime next week. Wanhao Duplicator 7...:O
what program can i use to do some rings & play with it? & if that's possible, can i use those projects with any SLA 3d printer?
Wonderful :)
😂 you're a goof enjoyed the video though. Very informative
I hope this is an inside joke with the author ??
Thanks lady
Isn’t moonray dlp?

Hey this looks interesting
*Immediately makes finger dino tongue*
You have earned my full attention lolol
lol yeah I'm a silly goose
is it worth it
All you need is 6 more subscribers!
I really wanna Get a good deal on a SLA kickstarter 3D printer. Does anyone here know of a good kickstarter contender? Im all ears! :)
any recommendations on affordable resin?
💯 u.s bucks for one liter seems pretty high...
you can check out MakerJuice.com where 1 liter of resin that works with form1 is $65. :-D
