Never, ever, ever sign a free agent who just had a career year in their contract year. Fuck that, never. You might hit a home run once in a while, but it's not bloody likely.
Off the top of my head, Mike Matheson in Pittsburgh. They just finally got rid of Johnson, then bring in someone almost as much a liability on the ice and capwise! It makes no sense. Matheson was not good on Florida, and often a healthy scratch. On top of it, they lost Hornqvist. Just a terrible move.
For good measure, I'll add Luongo's contract in Vancouver. He's retired, and they're still paying him 3 million a year!
Loui erikson hands down will pass Gretzky on the all time point list! The legend of vancouver
@Comment Hacker right
You mean he has to pass nail yakupov he broke grezky points in one game
@@nikolasg8194 you are so right! I completely forgot about him. That is going to be hard to do.
He will not sadly.
Rob spitting 🔥🔥🔥 today 🤣🤣
If you think the Koskinen was all Chiarelli decision. That was made by other Oilers management.
Flames signing Markstrom 36 million in 6 years in a little questionable, but who knows, he might live up to it.
I just think the length is questionable. I’m just speaking as an armchair GM but I would’ve given him a shorter deal to prove he’s still the man on a different team. If he goes out and sucks now you’re stuck with that for 6 seasons.
@@Thrashman-ye4cf he has been playing great so far, i think the first 3 years will be worth it but that last 3 will be questionable.
@@brocksidorsky3682 that’s a good speculation. I would agree.
Forgot to mention how Peter Chiarelli dismantled a playoff team by trading off key players who got them to the playoffs.
Sweeney giving a 50 year old repeatedly concussed Backes 6 per for 5 years set the Bruins back big time and maybe cost them a Cup or 2. It even trumped the god awful Beleskey signing
What do you mean? Where would we be without Loui Eriksson?
You’re doing great vids bro. Really interesting untapped content. Kudos, you’ve earned a sub in me keep up the stellar work ❤️
Isn’t 7 yr @ 70 aav a 490m deal?
Makes it understandable why Columbus couldn’t re-sign him 😊
Good channel. Subbed.
As a Canucks fan, Nonis infuriated me. He has a basic framework for building a team with a world class goalie but what does he do? Basically nothing.
The team is playing defensive hockey knowing it’s their only hope while Nonis dis absolutely nothing to help.
I think you made an error on the Dave Borland one because it says 27.5 million Aav love your videos
Bolland
Yes I did haha
and also the Patrick Roy trade. damn you, Rejean Houle. And Mario Tremblay too.
Tremblay might have kept Roy in Montreal had he not pulled antics like leaving him out to dry for 11 goals.
@@gidzmobug2323 they had prior beef from when they were teammates years prior. They HATED each other. that relationship was doomed from the start. That was part of why Mario did that, to show Patrick that he was the boss. And it backfired.
@@yootoobe1790 had not known that they had previously been teammates.
Where’s Paul Fenton on this list lol. Still can’t believe that clown
Hey I really like the vids, but one thing I’d recommend is instead of always saying “we would begin to see steep regression” and “the Oilers would begin to panic” most of the time, it’s probably better to just say “we saw steep regression” and “the Oilers began to panic”. Could just be me, but I think it would sound a lot better and more natural
It does. You're basically calling him out on a form of passive voice.
@@christophermerlot3366 so it’s not just me? I really like the things he covers and brings up but the way he talks about stuff in the past is just *off*
Thanks for the feedback!
I feel like Columbus had a defense that both really complimented and covered up bob and his strengths and weaknesses. Bob will be better this year but hes still not the elite goalie people say
That’s now how you pronounce Bjugestad
The Oilers could use Jonas Siegenthaler right now. Skates like the wind and is a bit truculent to boot.
Well... As a MTL fan it's pretty hard since real verifiable good players never did want to sign here.
Then I remember Karl Alzner...
remember scott gomez? 1M per goal back in the days lol
Honestly, as a preds fan. One of, if not the worst signing for us is Duchene. Getting paid way too much and doing way too little.
Karl Alzner signed by Montreal wasn't great. Bergevin finally pulled the plug during the offseason but damages were still done.
As a Canucks fan currently it is Loui but historically it has to be Messier
RAWRRAWR BABY! FIRE TALON MOVE THE TEAM
Ah yes I didn't know that about Bob, I love him. Not because of Florida but bc I am a Columbus fan
Yo, 27.5M AAV for for Bolland and 70M AAV for Bob? Holy shit XD
