  • Being able to climb any tree using just one Hawk Helium stick makes for a light and bulk-free pack. This method should work on almost any stick such as a Lone Wolf or Muddy as well. Remember to be tethered and connected to the tree at all times! If you’d like to check out the Hawk Helium sticks for yourself, I’ll leave an Amazon affiliate link below!

You can use the bottom part of a climber too. Even use that as a platform

That's what I was thinking. And instead of a moving your tether every time have a rope in the tree already, a preset 550 loop. The when you stand up all you have to do is slide the prussik or ropeman

sweet system and so light weight and compact.

I do like the daisy chain and how it allows you to leave the Amstel attached to the stick at all times lessening the chance to drop the stick.

Thanks for video I’m just getting into the saddle hunting because I only hunt out a climber to begin with . Thanks again for showing me how to move 4 inches at a time . J/k hahahahahahah I subscribed so can I make those comments now lol

Yeah you’ll get better at it as you practice. At first it seems like you’re only moving a little at a time. Once you figure out s cadence though it gets faster

@@bowhuntingsoul2149 I was trolling the guy who made the 4 inch comment lol. But 1 sticking is actually what got me interested in the saddle and your the only one that I I’ve seen do it that way , thanks again!!

It'd be pretty easy to add at least a one step aider to give you some more distance per move.

I climb trees for a living, and I have to ask why don't you guys climb the tree with a rope. You can hunch 20 -30 feet on a rope pretty quick, and when you're ready to come down you hit your knot run your rope into your backpack and you're ready to roll.

    • @bowhuntingsoul2149

Josh Boyd some guys do use an SRT/DRT method. Most consider it bulky and cumbersome for the hunting we do. Extra rope, throw bags, etc. But some die hard srt/drt guys DO swear by it. Just not for me.

@@bowhuntingsoul2149 i was thinking like 45-50 feet of one of the smaller diameter ropes in a backpack. And maybe pre selected trees with a length of throwline already crotched and tied off ready to go.

i carry 75ft and i ascend doing srt with a hand ascender with a foot loop and a grigri and just rapell down using the grigri. if i climb using the hand climber method i also rapell down

Not moving very much with each move , are people really that weak that the 3 pounds added byb2 more sticks is awful, it would take this guy an hour to get to 16 feet moving 6 inches at a time.

No, this just isn't a very good demonstration of one-sticking. First off, that stick should have a two or three step aider on the bottom to aid in covering distance up the tree. Second, he could go much further on each iteration, but I think he was trying to keep it in the frame of the camera. And lastly, one-sticking without a method to rappel back down the tree at the end just isn't worth it. The beauty of this method is that once you're done hunting, you just remove the stick, strap it to your pack or saddle, and rappel down. One-sticking back down a tree seems kind of silly.

Tony Lor two backup methods to get down.
1 I can use my tether and lineman’s belt/secondary tether to inchworm my way down.
      2. I’m carrying a screw in step in my pack in case of emergency. With that and my tether I can get down

Most ppl run a piece of 550 attached to the stick.... just in case. Hook that to the saddle

If you do this with a 30 ft safety rope like I'm thinking is you can rappel down.

@@a.b.k1983 That's the only way. One-sticking without the rappel at the end just isn't worth...much easier to just bring a set of sticks at that point.
