Full respray on the blue one? That's one hell of a dedication, mad respect!
These are so rare I can see why he wants to save them. Even back in the day there weren't many on the road. It was like seeing a Lotus Carlton, or Lancia Delta HF Integrale, or Sierra/Escort Cosworth, just without any of the performance of those cars 🙂. You saw them but hardly ever.
What a nice way to end a difficult Monday by watching Matt overspend 😅
Another car saved from the scrapheap and a rare one too nice work
A married bloke who was half a friend took up with a young girl who drove this white Nx,she came looking for him/me 5 nights a week
PTSD 😱
As a low key and introverted individual who always prefer to bland in rather than to stand out I really like that car and what you did with it. You've got all the thrills and enjoyment of driving something rarer and with more caractere without lacking originality and joining the obvious community who like/buy anything that everybody else is already licking and buying at insane prices.
Well done sir.
Next video: I'VE BOUGHT EVERY NISSAN 100NX ON PLANET EARTH!
😂
AND HE OVERSPENT AGAIN
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂
😂image a doctor bringing back to life a dead guy with the body of the guy he was ment to donate a kidney of something from 😂
My brain hurts from formulating that above sentence
Exactly why I love my 2003 agila 1.2. Simple motoring. No computers, basic mechanics to do yourself and no speeding tickets. Love the 90-00’s cars 👌
The 1990's were 'peak car' - enough of the necessary safety stuff to feel safe, better reliability that earlier decades, but still fairly analogue. I've just bought a MK1 Puma as a weekend car. Objectively, it's not as good as my two year old electric Corsa, but it is such fun!
1990’s BMW were peak for me.
2 4 6 8 Motorway,,,Tom Robinson,,,blast from the past,,,😎
Brilliant, Superb 100 NX Action 👍👍👍
I like cars that are normally a lot quicker or bigger than that, not necessarily new or modern vehicles, but I really like what you have done with that little Nissan Matt. I really respect your work there and emphasize with your sentiments about not bothering whether you've overspent. Top job Matt 👍😁
You got there in the end Matt 👍Personally I would store that car and eventually put it to auction. Well done !
I absolutely love that you do this to cars that most people would pass on. So so awesome.
Exceptional soundtrack for this one! Please keep adding this type of music to your videos, Matt😃
This is awesome. 90s cars are hy far the most appealing by a country mile. You've done a brilliant job!
What brilliant and quirky cars, I hope to see you and the NX one day at Festival of the Unexceptional perhaps!
Enjoyed this mini series
Refreshing seeing these old cars saved, with the high peak autos touch
Definitely do more if you ever get the chance as you’re saving small parts of history.
Car is looking good Matt lovely job 🚘🚙🚗👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
I could watch you save 90s cars all day. This is great work. I think you saving cars like this triggers emotions in us car tragics that we don't feel, when seeing you save something newer with less of a soul to it.
Absolutely wonderful car
I love your passion
Never stop
Thank you
Fantastic job. This brings back so many great memories. I owned a 3 year old 1991 model in red, although it didn't have the alloys or boot lip spoiler on your 3 cars. It was a rare sight even in the 90's and always turned heads. When I picked it up from the garage (with the roof off obviously) my partner said I was grinning from ear to ear and never stopped for the 5 years I owned it. Never missed a beat and totally reliable. In the end I only sold it to go full on convertible, but it wasn't as watertight as the 100NX. Don't stash it away in a garage, enjoy it, cars like that are meant to be seen and driven.
looks amazing, every one needs a Jimmy the Magician in their life!
something very cathartic about driving old school cars with no bells and whistles. Back to grass roots and driving with a smile.Long may you get 90's cars to do up.👍
Well done matt car looks awesome, love the music 😊
Well done Matt 👏
love the filming style
Love it when a car is saved and restored to close to mint,a really interesting looking car, auto box as well,I can see a queue wanting to own it.
Great Job!
these 100NX are the reason I started watching your videos.
Matt what a transformation. You must be the Founder of the Nissan 100NX club. You have a following which no doubt you did not expect. Glad you are enjoying what you have done. As you said cars without all the modern whistle's and bells do not make for easy driving whereas this does.
This little 100NX shows just how enormous modern cars have got. Sure, they’re safer now with more gadgets but there’s something wonderful about a compact ‘90s coupe. Great job Matt 👌
Glad to see these far forgotten cars have reinvigorated your love of car dealing.
Brilliant. I love a car rescue, especially if it's something 90s or retro. It'd be great to see more like this.
Do love unappreciated 90's cars. I've just bought a Fiat Barchetta...
Flew out to the Netherlands in Rotterdam, picked it up, did the export papers, got the temp plates and insurance, drove down to Maastricht, picked up a hardtop for it, then back to Rotterdam to catch the ferry to Hull and drove it home to Stockport.
It's final destination is going to be getting sent to Romania as my summer car there (hence buying an EU one as I won't be registering it to the UK), so was bringing it over just to do a timing belt and oil service on it, a bit of welding, window gaskets and new tyres before loading it onto the trailer to be sent over, however, in the 5 or so days I've had it
- odometer broke
- speedometer broke
- blower fan speed control relay stopped working
- aircon stopped blowing cold
- thermostat stuck open and housing is leaky and sugary
- airbag light randomly comes and goes
- after using the hazzard switch the turn signals won't blink
- 1st and reverse synchros feel like they're on their way out
- has developed an odd idle
- has developed an occasional brief grindey noise from the top-end
- woom-woom-woom noise coming from the rear. best case unbalanced wheels, worst case wheel bearings
- backbox seems to be hanging lower and lower each time I look at it
Absolutely love it though, so now that plan has changed into stripping it down completely, rebuilding the engine (possibly doing a cylinder head swap for a non-VVT head and fettling with the bore, stroke, internals, cams and possibly ITBs), rewiring the entire car for a standalone ECU and fitting a Quaife LSD
That turned into a really lovely car. Almost 20 years ago I owned a mid 90's Fiat Coupe. I sold it when things started to go wrong as I didn't have the cash to sort out the issues. I would love to have another one. Like the 100NX they're quirky and a lot of fun. Serious fun if you get the 20 valve turbo version. Like you said Matt. You can't beat a 90's sports car
I really appreciate your mentality and work. Thank you for saving these cars and sharing the journey.
Love your enthusiasm, cars like this have souls and should be preserved
I have to say as well that in my household we are waiting and cheering when you say "well we're here".
Almost like a drinking game.
Hi, we had one for seven years. Great car , never any trouble, and so easy to maintain. Thanks for saving it. 👍
I can sense a high peak retro series in the offing, something that would bring back memories for myself learning to drive in that era. Flying over the M62 to raves in a golf GTi with your mates, best era for cars in my humble opinion.
Nice job matt
That 100nx looks gorgeous all time any monet has really paid off saving this 90's classic. Wish I'd never got rid of mine I had a few years ago.
I did exactly the same with a 1993 celica ST182 in white. Bought for £500 and then massively overspent. But was definitely worth it.
hi john a fellow john with a st183c jap import the second one i have owned
There's a delicious irony watching Matt advertise Car Vertical "to avoid buying a lemon" whilst Matt updates us on Project Lemon... and his massive overspend! 😃
On a more serious note... nice restoration job, Matt. As you said, shame to see cars rot away!
Latest count 48 licensed with 213 on sorn in the UK so plenty more project & donor cars available to Matt
Watch this space !
Matt, I love your 100NX videos and can't wait for more. I really enjoy your enthusiasm for them but honestly it's a 'child that only it's mother could love'........ Keep up the good work keeping them on the road.
It is a very cute car, good job!!! I'm also glad you have seemingly taken it upon yourself to save the entire remaining fleet in the UK. Fair play 👍
Fantastic video and well done for saving it. A lot of 90s Nissans were overlooked, and very underrated. I owned a Primera P11 GT for 20 years. It was a hoot to drive and with the legendary SR20DE chain driven engine in it which made it faultlessly reliable. I do miss it, but I collector bought it from me when I sold it.
Well done, what a fantastic video from the UK's leading authority on Nissan 100NX's 🎉. You've got to take it to Festival of the Unexceptional next year!
That's awesome that you got one of the blue ones resprayed, I doubt anyone else would have done that!
You did proper in restoring a really good reliable car from the time when Nissans were reliable...
👍🤜🏽
My dad had a H reg 200SX. It was a lightweight drifty beast. That was a manual coupe. Don’t see many of them about in the uk now. Most rusted away or have been tuned and crashed by drifters.
Nice resto job , Another classic saved from the great scrapyard in the sky .
Good too see this update .👍
Nice one Matt. My classic is a generation earlier - 1968 Triumph 2000 - but good to see any older car kept on the road. Keep up the good work.
Well done Matt for saving another classic.
Oh hello, check out the production on this vid. Great work lads
Just looks magnificent. Saint Matt saves the day again...
That looks lovely now.
Back in the day we used to call the accelerator the volume pedal on those.
With the resurgence of 90’s fashion and music, I can definitely see a trend coming for iconic cheap 90’s cars with Gen Z’s happening. Fiestas, Golf’s and Novas for example!
I’m glad you are thinking of doing more like this
Perfect result there! It reminds me of my mothers old Toyota Paseo from 1996.
Well done on sourcing the correct plates. It really lets the side down when I see an old classic with new style registration font. On the old style plates the characters/digits are 8mm bigger than the modern style, not just you that has nerdish tendencies ! ;-)
In my youth I was going to buy one of these but chose a Volvo 440 turbo, only because of the performance, but Nissan had the quality! Great project Mat.
You manage to make the “last car on earth” that I’d want still interesting! Oh boy!
Great to see a rare car spared from the scrap heap - well done Matt
There's a blue one flying around near me in Rutland, it really grabs attention, i was following it the other day and people really turned and looked as we entered Oakham. Excellent job 👌
If I had my time again I'd like to work for Matt's support network ( Jimmy , prestige wheels etc ) . You'd never be out of work.
You should be proud of that Matt. Lovely little car
Excellent! Saved a few un loved miss understood cars myself and had a lot of fun in them, Matt.
Nice one Matt I'm really pleased you done the right thing by the little Nissan it was always worth saving and it's nice to see how much you enjoyed the process
Great job and video! So good to see a car from that era being looked after. Most disappear before anyone actually thinks about saving them.
If looked after reasonably carefully, this will easily outlast the current computerised EV IPads on wheels in my view!
Many thanks for your efforts.
Used car vertical the other day… thoroughly enjoyed the 20% discount. Thank you!
Matt these are absolutely brilliant videos I love the content, I’m in my mid 50s now and these came out when I was in my 20s, I didn’t fancy them though as they were a bit girly and I preferred the Honda CRX and I ended up owning 3 of them, they released the 100NX with a 2 litre twin cam engine out of the primera eGt and they produced over 150 bhp excellent power for the day. More of these nostalgic videos Matt please.🙏
Thanks, well done, Jimmy really is a majician, but we do not know the bill. The car is defo a keeper.
It really looks good Matt . Saying you've "vastly overspent" is relative. The parts weren't expensive, the work wasn't extensive and the end result is excellent. You now own a really rare car that is super economical to drive, maintain and you're enjoying the experience. To put things into perspective this car has probably cost you less than you would have paid to buy a front bumper for a Range Rover, have it sprayed and fitted. So what would you really prefer, a front bumper or a lovely 100NX?
Well done Matt, good job on saving another modern classic.
Looks beautiful Matt very nice indeed 👍🏼
Enjoying 80's / 90s Japanese cars is a joyous thing🙂
Interesting car, never heard about it before your interest
Definitely feeling a new wind blowing! Absolutely love this era of cars with their straightforward mechanics and pure driving experience, let's go ;-)
11:38 "It seems to be a really nice community"
You are 97% of the community 😂
😂 good job I like my own company
This series on the Nissan has been amazing really enjoyed it . Great content 👍👍👍
Nice work. Sometimes the unsung cars can bring you real joy.
For future reference when applying decals .... use a slightly soapy water solution on the body, apply the decal to the soapy water and slide around until happy with the position. Once correctly positioned, squeegee the water from behind the decal and this will also get rid of any trapped air. Trust me, the decal sticks.
That was a brilliant edit when you started driving it!! Absolutely love your content Matt, you're always my go to youtube channel!
Glad you enjoyed it!
to be fair that has come out outstandingly well, a real little gem
YESSS, she is a beauty! Well done Matt!
Love the car and love the editing! Great video.
Thanks so much!
Matt blasting Tom Robinson Band quality!!
Who?!
A usable classic saved, top work mate
What a time warp gem, looking forward to seeing the blue one when completed,Cheers fella 👍
That looks stunning. I do prefer the Colbalt Blue colour but I can see why you saved it. Love the fact that you can get plates that match the font of the original too, as I think it would look odd without them. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the Colbalt Blue ones
Great result with the 100NX. Fingers crossed 🤞 you buy the MR2. And now I've got that song going round in a loop in my head 😂
More of this content. fits in nicely with the normal buying and selling of your Kia picantos
It looks really nice, I look forward to an update on the blue one when it has been painted
Great stuff Matt. These things need to be saved if possible. Before the roads are just full of Jukes
This is my favourite type of your video Matt
There's definitely added-value in nostalgia!
When this car was built I loved my old £100 Japanese built Datsuns, and about the same time worked as a driver for fleet hire.
I know what your car smells like.
A Datsun.
Great video, different to the normal type but still great!! Can’t wait to see what your next 90’s project is, keep saving those classics 👌🏻
Brilliant Matt, love what youre doing these interesting cars need to be saved
