    If it does not consume coolant, it can also be a badly clogged heater core. The lack of mayonnaise in the oil, normal coolant levels and normal engine power indicate that the engine could be fine.

    No, if heater isnt warm that has nothing to do with head gasket , it's a flow issue if the system isn't pressurising you won't have power. Try some sealer. Could be a stuck thermostat or clogged radiator. It's probably not a head gasket, because you drove it haha. If it had a bad gasket it would have low compression and gutless

    • @mawin5899
      @mawin5899 3 месяца назад

      I agree with this. Potentially a water pump. Compression test first... if that passes without symptoms then a leak-down test. You can feel the temperature of the hoses in and out of the pump to see if hot coolant is getting around the system. Just see where the cold hose is and you know it is the bit before that which has failed.

    I work at a builders merchant acting as transport manager and we had a suspected head gasket failure (examined by an independent garage). We then took it to a main dealer which said the same and quoted around £13,000 for an engine replacement. We sold the van for £2500 and later heard the issue was a heat pump. The vehicle was later sold again to someone else for £9000

It can tow up to 2t and is magnificent with the horse box on the back whilst delivering decent mpg. It has been really cheap motoring for us. Matt, I deliver RR's for JLR, and that beeping which will be driving you mad is that new EU thing that says every new car has to have that system installed, which tells you every time you enter a new speed limit, and beeps when you break it! Anyway, to turn it off, on the steering wheel, you'll find a symbol on the left hand side, looks like a white circle with a car inside it. Press that 3 times every time you start the vehicle (as it defaults when started to "high" level) and put it in "low". That should shut it up by 95%. It also turns off the lane assist which is also annoying. If you press that same button twice, it'll be in "Custom" and you can adjust the settings in the infotainment screen to suit. Hope that helps.

    Head gaskets... it costs £800 to replace a £30 part and takes 8 hours labour, which is less than 4% of the cost of the part. 😬
    1:31 on my car I was convinced it was the head gasket, because after driving a mile then going slow (McDonald's Drive Thru one mile away) that's when it stunk of oil with the blowers on, but it was the power steering fluid leaking out and burning off. It was a relatively cheap fix. Since then the stink has been there a few times and I am sure it's the head gasket. It's more than the car is worth. 😂

    These 2.2 Peugeot engines suffer from EGR cooler failure, cracked cylinder heads, failed thermostat housings and blown head gaskets, so hard to say what could be wrong with it really without getting your mechanic to have a good look over it, but after the S Class video where they said the wiring loom was full of oil and needed replacing when it was just a stuck swirl flap, I would be careful! That engine sounds AWFUL though, as if it's down on compression and dumping fuel in to compensate, or it's got worn injectors which is another common problem with these.

    300 quid and in my favourite colour and with my favourite interior damn I'd love a motor like that even if you spent 1500 on it you would still have a awesome car a good looking one at that thanks for saving her.

    They don't take that long to warm up generally but that did seem quick.
    Had a low coolant warning on the MY2011 I own but found that the expansion cap outer rubber seal ring was loose. during the hot weather we had recently. Replaced the cap and topped off coolant and so far so good.

    Check it hasn't been fitted with a steering lock emulator to get round the steering lock fault message. They bypass the fault so the steering unlocks and the vehicle will start. They're usually cheap plug in Chinese units that have been known to fail, applying the steering lock when you're travelling down the motorway !

    As someone mentioned it could be a clogged heater core. Matt didn't check it for bobbles in the cooling water reservoir (at least not on camera). Well he zeroed out his expenses, and this Land Rover just might get to live on by his colleague.

    Can we have an update when it's fixed? Maybe do an update episode where you go through a number of cars you have shown in the past - did they sell, did they break down after sale and you had to scrap or are they still going with delighted owners!

    The funny thing is after driving the car around you still think it has a blown head gasket. Its a diesel, if it actually has a blown gasket you wont have power and it will blow smoke. I bet uour radiator isnt disappating heat and boiling to the coolant reservoir, its not a head gasket haha

    Loved mine. 09 too. Sold it on last year, as I got paranoid about the rust that was starting to show and to my eyes, looked too corroded underneath. I did cringe when you sat on the bonnet - scratches off of your jeans studs. Oh come on😫
