    What people need to understand about hydrogenated oils is that is it is a transfat companies are allowed to list 0% transfat if there is less than 1/2 of a gram. meaning that there could be up to 0.49 grams of transfats and they can list that it is 0!! with 2 servings you have already consumed one g of trans fats.

    One of my first jobs out of high school was working at a Popeye's. It's funny you say that about the mashed potatoes because its literally just a powder you add boiling water to and mix together. Only the rice is made fresh all the other sides including the biscuits arrive frozen. The chicken strips are frozen sliced chicken breast. What you're eating is only refrigerated but it does go through a seasoning process for both mild or spicy.

    Love popeyes, always order spicy and a 16 piece box and some fries. Fries dont last the trip home but the popeyes last a good few days. Always sad when its gone. Edit. Dont think ive ever had dry meat there, must be just the location. Cant ever eat kfc again after popeyes.

      Same... and it seems fast food is particularly bad where he is. He's always getting cold food and old fries. The problem my fast food places have is screwing up the orders, but most of it comes out fresh. The rare occasions where it didn't, it was like around closing or like right after a rush.

    Popeye's was my first restaurant job as a kid. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Popeye's. After seeing those ingredient lists I'm actually shocked and appalled. I knew their food was full of salt and fat but holy smokes!! I still never expected to see that many ingredients in such basic foods as chicken and potatoes and biscuits. Jesus christ!!

      Not really what do you want them to do Spoon feed you? Look at your flour bag and check the ingredients, OK now check the oil and spices and seasoned salt. They have as many ingredients as Popeye's. They government cannot babysit you. They need to get rid of half the reporting they are just adding cost to these items. Put the important ingredients salt, sugar, wheat products, peanuts products, and post the rest on some web sight for someone to worry about. They are killing us with over regulation.

    • @verios44
      @verios44 6 лет назад +10

      MrPOPSZILLA no there is nothing inheriantly bad about salt, but what gets you is the side affects. First, it will dry you out. Thats why you feel like drinking gallons of a drink with a salt heavy meal. Seconds it simply is unnecessary. That amount of salt is beyond overkill. Go 6 months with eating low or no sodium and then eat a heavy sodium meal. You will feel like garbage.

      Don't be shocked by the ingredients. They are normal for the most part. look at your flour at home. Check the oil you use. I was stunned to see 6 ingredients on my flour. Why can't they say flour? It would not last 2 weeks in the pantry if flour was all they used. 98% of these places are reputable and are doing the best they can with over regulations and stupid requirements that just add cost and no benefit to the food. I know there is always the thief and murderer and dirt bag out there trying to squeeze out the last dollar.

      Only in the U.S. Here in Australia we use Cane Sugar as sugar in everything. It is rare to find anything with corn sugar - but it is obvious to me when I fond something as I feel sore in my shoulders and ache plus feel like crap.... Have to sleep it off! Real sugar that we use such as Cane Sugar has no such effects to me! McDonald's stopped using corn starch sugar in the early 2000's here! So did Coca-Cola.

      Cane sugar, corn syrup, it really doesn't matter that much in the body. It's all bad and really pulls the insulin trigger. Insulin stores fat, that is all it does. Carbs and sugar cause insulin resistance and obesity.

    OK in fairness to Popeye's and other fast food joints. The FDA requires ever single ingredient of all the ingredients as well be listed. I looked at my Flour and it contains 6 ingredients. The Oil same way seasonings the same way or worse. So though theses things should be known somewhere, Making them put everything out there is a waste of good ink in many cases. And if you made it at home you would get almost as many. I really like your videos and I do not disagree with most everything you say about all of these items. I also appreciate that you looked on the FDA sight and they said we didn't find anything bad on some of the ingredients. We live in a complex world and the sometimes a well meaning government is ruining a lot of things for us and them. Just put the main important facts out there like sodium and sugars. I love Popeye's! Thanks for this!

    You got your Popeye's from a really good location. The last time I bought Popeye's, I had to eat the Chicken with a pile of napkins from all the grease. The biscuits were dryer than a Nevada desert. Their cajun rice was a cup of lumpy mush. Their potatoes tasted like instant potatoes and had hardly any gravy. And their macaroni and cheese was bland, soggy mush.
