She makes the best apple pancakes. I let her have free rein in the kitchen. She went between cookbooks & RUclips tutorials on the computer & she came up with good recipes. About 2 or 3 years ago I gave in and we got cell phones. She would prop her phone up & go between RUclips & Tik Tok for her recipes. She has a natural talent! She can make eggs in every style & her bacon 🥓 always comes out perfect. I feel very blessed to have her! She can also do yard work. She gutted it out with me so the pool area looked tropical.🌴 I never had one thought I’d be in a wheelchair & have to rely on my family to help me get my shoes on! I don’t know what I’d do without my angel! 😇
SOS was always made with chipped (not ground) beef, a milk-based gravy, and served over toast (the "shingle") -- not mashed potatoes. This recipe might be good, but it's not SOS.

Actually SOS was originally made with bottle chipped beef. But over time it evolved into ground beef. I make it too only I use beef broth. Yours looks great!
I use a homemade soup stock instead of water. I save the veggie scraps in the freezer (tops of carrots and onions, parsley stems, ect) and boil them. I substitute it for water in a lot of recipes. I even cook my rice in it.

I would add a half a teaspoon of dry mustard, it’ll just give it a little more flavor without actually tasting it all like mustard or anything or a little bit of Worcestershire sauce. Instead of corn, a green vegetable would be much more healthy And better for the kids as they’re growing up. You’ve got all that flower, all that grease and mashed potatoes, which is plenty of fat and carbs, you really need it vegetable or two especially for the kids to develop well. You look like a great cook, it might be helpful too. See a nutritionist.

Tried this and it was yummy!! I made a few adjustments though. I didn't have any peppers, i used seasoned salt instead of salt and beef broth instead of water. It went well on top of roccioli pasta. Thank you for sharing!!
This is almost like "pap en mince", a favorite here in South Africa🙌..so you make your ground beef gravy the way you like it, but the sauce part should be about as thick as this gravy you made...then you just substitute te mashed potatoes for plain cooked cornmeal porridge😋👌tho, the porridge should not have a runny consistency

I'm not sure it's teflon, since I have a pan that looks similar with straight sides, and a good heavy cover, and it's more like cast iron. If her's was teflon, it isn't now. ;)
That pan scrape with the fork is *CRINGE* ! Nice receipe though. I will be using either Beyond Burger or Loma Linda Burger for the meat. I think i'll add and onion (big chunks) a Green Pepper and an Orange one. Darn wish i had Mushrooms! That with this gravy would be bomb! Thanks for sharing!

Julie On The Real You inspired me tonight either way and I made shepards pie. I've recently switched to all cast iron. It's hard for me to get use to being able to use some metal again.
Julie On The Real it's Pretty much what you made here... But after you get the hamburger gravy made the way you did you add two cans of mixed veggies or frozen if that's what you have. Heat it up and then grease a 9x13 pour your gravy beef veggie mix in the bottom. I top this with a little American slice cheese here then add mashed potatoes on top and top again with shredded cheese. I like cheddar and then I also always top that with mozzarella because it gets browned and stringy the best. Bake for about 30 minutes at 350 to 375 so it's all nice and browned. Let it sit and then serve. I think it's actually called cottage pie when made with beef.

If you want your Gravy a little darker let it cook a little longer before adding the water, Also try it over a nice thick slice of Bread .......

The only thing different I would do is substitute beef bouillon or broth instead of water. You'd have to lighten up on the salt.
