I know it's an unpopular opinion here but the acting is not that great, all his lines are delivered in exactly the same way, while trying too hard to mimick Ragnar's intonation. Plus the quality of the dialogue didn't help.
Don't know if that's true, but somewhere I read that Björns actor was really sick when they were filming this scene, amd they wanted to keep it that way because his voice sounds so broken. Don't know where I read that, probably in a youtube comment section, so might be bs anyway
Björn was also the only brother ivar was very weary off. I'd even say feared to fight at fitst. Like in this scene. Then with the Rus he was determent to kill him. And very much thinking with their superior military tech and tactics they must win. And terrified when half dead full of arrows he still lifted his sword and rallied all of Norway like some mythical miracle. Wich also broke the morale of the Rus.

Vikings is such an underrated show like when I first watched it I had to grit my teeth through the first couple of episodes and then I fell in love with it but now going back those first episodes are so nostalgic for me

I feel like Ragnars sons represent a side of him. Ivar is his dark side and his wit. Björn is his adventurous spirit and a great worrier, Ubbe is his good heart, and Sigurd and Hvitserk…well idk 😂
Hvitserk was the side of ragnar that made mistakes. But he was also the brave warrior side to overcome the mistakes. Sigurd was his silent jealous bullying side, the side that wasn't sure how to convey kindness or mercy when it was possible Bjorn was his leadership, courage and will to keep going. Ubbe was his love for his sons and his people to give them better lives. Ivar was the chaos in ragnar that was kept in check by lagertha, floki and athelstan.
Such a great show there were so many reasons for their passion so much depth of character. It took years, but they developed these characters perfectly.
stopped watching after Bjorn died, it felt like a major let-down after waiting like 6months for the second half of the final season, I was hoping for something more climatic or memberable.

Trivial it all started on the death of aslaug of lagertha just no been a bitch and let aslaug lived Ivar wouldn’t have did those things and then killing his brother pretty much solidified it but it all started with that arrow they were owed vengeance by rights only seemed one followed through though
You honestly see so much of his father in him I know it’s a show but he did an amazing job, as well as the guy who played Ragnar like they really gave you the father son feel and he even started to mimic Ragnar’s facial expressions and how he would say certain things, going from a laugh to serious when speaking the little details were amazing with his character

I would say Ubbe+ Ivar are the only 2 characters that inherited and went beyond Ragnars spirit. Bjorn did not seem to have good battle IQ and was stupid in general almost all the decisions that he took ended up being stupid and caused loss.
He didn't break. He was just hurt and upset by the whole situation. His brother betrayed him and the people were forced to betray him as well by being loyal to the "king".
It's funny how so many people shout for an award whenever a series or movie has a moment of good acting. They're just doing their job and they're doing it well, but we can't go and hand out 2000 awards each year for every single cool moment out there.
No one ever thinks of the countless lives the kings send into the battlefields for their own purposes. The fallen are the real heroes and warriors, each one had lives and dreams and hopes of a better life. Only to be used in the games of the Kings.
"We played together when we were children.." When that bowman lowers his bow, I just imagine him remembering as he fought Bjorn with a wooden sword and realises that no matter what Ivar told him, he could never bring himself to harm that man.

Finished Vikings a week ago and this actor really did put in effort into all of his scenes.
