**FAQ**
1. What is needle felting?
Felting is one of the oldest fiber crafts, it is a process to create an object made with wool fibers. There are two types- one is dry (needle) felting and the other one is wet felting. This video shows the creations I made with dry felting, this process uses a special barbed needle to create friction between the fibers when you use the needle to poke them up and down. This allows the fibers to tangle together and creates a volume. There is no rule to needle felting, however safety is very important and always watch what you are doing.

It's actually pretty therapeutic .stab the wool and then you have a thingy .it's very fun
I started it this week to aid in the anxiety disorder f going back to work in the middle of the f a pandemic (I’m a server) and it really helps. Just try it! I got some basic stuff from hobby lobby to see if I like it first

My kit came with cow hide finger protectors. I could hold the felt right in my hand and poke as many holes as I want and no wounds.
I poked myself the very first time I took a stab at the wool. :D

yes, when I first started it took me hours to make some stuff... but if you know what you are doing it should be faster.

Sure, that's totally up to you. I find needle felting soothing and fun, no trouble at all! I can create whatever I want with the needle, it's more flexible than knitting. It is labour-intense, but that's what makes it special from other fiber arts, and you'll feel a great sense of self-accomplishment when you finish a great piece of work!

I have come back to this video after almost a decade and yours is the one that introduced me to needle felting :') I remember being OBSESSED and dying to try it and not having the funds or knowing where to get good supplies for it at least back then. I have supplies in my many-craft inventory and it's a craft I keep returning to ^.^

I have that same Mini Heart cutter when I trimmed my Shih Tzu, I took some of the trimmed hair and needle felted it using the Heart. An adorable trinket kept in a pill tin.

Ahh I just tried it and I think I'm in love! I caught on pretty quickly. Just made a little ball to test and then I added little eyes and a smile. I think I'm going to have so much fun with this!

Avoid using your fingers to hold the felt down (cookie cutter too):
◉ I use a small spare needle to pin the felt to the foam, and thanks to
the barbs the felt can be turned and manipulated easily... no fingers
near the working needle.
- - You'll likely be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to avoid
the holding needle, even with the multiple needle tool.
◉ For cookie cutters, just use more spare needles and take advantage of
the bent end to use as hold downs.
⊛ Flip and move your project around (often), saving the smallest working
needle for the end & detail work
(fine lines, mouths, trim, veins, etc)
⊛ Work shallow, when finishing, unless you really want to recess detail.
Recessing an iris or mouth line can add surprising dimension.

I was thinking about trying this craft and I wanted to see a basic start, to know if it looked possible for me, and also how much space is needed to do it (compared to, say knitting). I think I should definitely give it a go, it looks like I could even do it at my computer desk.

I don't care what anyone says, this is the most metal thing I've seen in crafting! That needle was moving so fast, I was afraid to look away. I would have to use some tool to hold the felt in place or else I would make painful mistake.
