I literally "clutched my pearls" when you shared the price!!🤣 For that price, there shouldn't be any neighbors bothered by the bell. Truly appreciate your humor.
It’s a beautiful house and the price seems fair for the area and lot size. Not a fan of the kitchen; just too dark and choppy, but maybe correct for the era. It would be more appealing done in a white farmhouse style. I could work with the blue room by bringing in light and colorful furnishings. Love the pool and pool house. Very pretty grounds.
I actually love the way the house looks. I think they did an outstanding job restoring it. I have just one problem with it: even if I could afford it, it’s too much house. You’d have to have maids to clean it. No way would I try to clean that every week. I’d start in the morning and it would be time for bed when I finish…..lol. It’s a beautiful home, though.
This is a beautiful home. I watch your channel regularly and soon as you started the walkthrough I had to grab my wife and show it to her. Let’s put it this way, we are in love with the house. We love that old style.
I love it. If I could afford it, I would buy. The one dark room doesn't bother me. Now winter heating bills are probably murder. Single pane windows. All your heating outside. But if I could afford it, would have to get the heating situation sorted out.
A really pretty family home that will likely sell well. The building which is now a pool house was most likely the stable with the smaller building being servant or grooms quarters in the past. I've known a few individuals who have purchased residences that were once farms that had had substantial land holdings at one time. The old stables make great guest quarters, pool houses etc. Thank you for the lovely tour.
This house is fantastic. Although it has a lot of twists and turns, it's a great living space. The darker paint choices are not my favorite, but still nice. The pool and the guest suite is a great addition to this house. If I were to buy this house, I would make it my own; change the darker paint to white or a brighter color to make the spaces look even bigger. A great showing Jonathan.
Love the house. I think they did a great job restoring it. I love everything about it. My favorite of all the houses you’ve shown. I enjoy your channel and seeing the strange homes too.
16:13 this is valued to high. Even for the location!!! When you get in the millions a house at least needs bells and whistles amenities!! They will never get the asking offer. … But I Love your videos!!! One of my dreams is to become an agent and then a broker!!
The dark living room reminds me of the times when the gentleman of the house would entertain other male guests serving (brandy & cigars) usually after a formal dinner. In this time frame a separate more formal living room (parlor) for entertaining guests, group gatherings, music/plays etc. was necessary based on status of the family. An additional living room ( now called family room) for immediate family gatherings/lounge. My thoughts are limited because I do not have the history of how the home was used. The details were there before any renovations were done. Before pictures of the inside would reveal so much more! I am no way knowledgeable on the subject, just observations of homes, documentaries over the my 80 plus years in this DMV area. Price seems fair for anyone that can afford this beautiful home. Some modifications are needed, starting with that dark blue living room!
It’s so crazy to see how insane prices have gotten especially some of the dc areas. This one is priced based accordingly for the area. If u look around v surrounding dc it is California prices and this one has a lot of space. Plus the pool and the notoriety of jfk and Marilyn lol
I adore historic homes so I was excited to watch. I think the Reno fell short. Some rooms scream 80s, some 2020s. Some bizarre choices like the wall treatment in the family room were off putting. Best part of the house was the second floor.
Where was the farmhouse sink in the kitchen? Maybe I missed it. The main house looks beautiful from the outside but the inside doesn’t impress me. There was water in the basement by the wine wall. The ADU outback was nice and the grounds and gardens are really nice.
One of my favorite homes. I love the space and guest/pool house. It’s clean, and well maintained. WeIf this house was built in 1860, it likely didn’t have slave quarters, especially that size. It could have been servants quarters or the farmer’s first house. Most slave quarters were built hastily and were very small.
Yeah the slave quarters are tiny tiny. I’ve been to some of the plantations in South Carolina. The grounds of the home are beautiful. All of the landscaping is so well maintained. The price is I guess accurate but I wouldn’t purchase it.
It’s a beautiful house. Not the biggest fan of that blue, partially because they didn’t leave the sealing white. I’m not the biggest fan of the other paint choices they made either, though. Since they kept the fireplaces & windows the heating/cooling efficiency is a Huge question.
Hey, love the home overall. Loved the master bedroom bathroom! It was the best part of the house for me. Lol! Not really sold on the overall layout of the home. Did not like the unfinished basement. The outside grounds are beautiful. However a no purchase. Due to the time period it was built I’m quite sure it’s linked to slavery. Guest house is nice.
The first floor could do with one less sunroom with a few walls taken down. I don't like the dark blue color on the wall. The master suite is all that! The front door needs a little attention. I'm not a huge fan of the kitchen.
I like the dark living room I would have different furniture. Don’t really like the kitchen. The house it beautiful and the price is fair. It would be 20 million here where I live in Cali.
Very nice house, I wish the living room wasn't so dark, it's depressing. I would not buy a house that age, all I can think about is the cost associated with a major issue if one surfaces? And this may be the mind set of potential buyers. After you spend that kind of money to purchase, you certainly don't want to find out it's a money pit, unless money is not object.
Very nice home. Kitchen seems disconnected from the house and incomplete. The dark blue room is too dark and the ONLY room with a bold color. Would be a great home for parents with teen children who enjoy entertaining.
I really like this house. The dark living room has to be repainted. I'm having problems with these floor plans. Goodness. I honestly can see $3.7 for that house in that part of VA.
So far I'm loving this house all kinds of holidays gathering going on in my head 😊 I'm in love with this house Nope I changed my mind slaves might be hunting
Danny going to say this used to be slave quarters then he go say what's going on something going on by the pool I'm like oh Lord the ancestors is at the pool
I'm little less than 7mins in and -I'm saying this coming from a design background, with a historical leaning (I teach historical design)- I hate the many colors in this house. I intensly dislike the dark academia in that living room and all the colors there after- too much going on. I respect the desire to preserve the past, but I've seen it done way better in other homes- The only color I like so far is the dining room-very soothing, very pretty. I know I should wait till the end -but the kitchen did it for me, I'm about to tap out. Not in love!
Agree. Also noticed mismatching doors through out the home. Some rooms had the nearer hallow doors while others had the shaker 1900 style doors. House presents like it’s kinda sorta trying to be historical but designed by someone who lacks experience.
Love this house. Grounds and pool house/xtra living qtr. and second floor great, plus could redo attic. When you walk into the front door of the house, light walls keeps it bright and should go throughout the whole house. Then the main living room is totally off putting, mismatched furniture ugly blue. Then off to the kitchen totally mismatched pieces with dark green ugly. Even light blue and light green would of kept with bright feel, but dark colors ugly. Need some different paint and change out strange kitchen pieces and should be good. Otherwise, I would buy this house very charming. Need to check the comps. Hope the pool is solar.
I HATE the kitchen: the antique-y shade on the fridge and the tint and style of the cabinets, the heavy island, don't suit the rest of the house. The floor layout in the kitchen is awkard. Also, the chintzy hardware. They would have been smarter to match the built-ins and fire mantles in the rest of the house to design the kitchen, as well as the simpler metal hardware. They messed up one of those bathrooms (main bedroom en suite?) in the same way: too much fake frou frou and antiquing on the cabinets, as well as the fixtures. That stuff looks like the 1980's, not the 1880's. Too bad, in such a pretty house. As in most of these houses, the chandeliers are cheap-looking and lack the heft needed to be compatible with the rest. IMO all these houses should SKIP the chandeliers. They should have put overhanging eaves on the poolhouse to match the period style. To be current, this house needs energy efficiencies, solar (or community solar buy-in), heat pumps, etc. All in all, though I like the house and think it's well-valued, the most recent renovators are out-of-touch with the exact period they were supposed to be matching. They should have taken a hint from the existing elements, which are more true to the period.
I was all set to buy this house until you said that there could have been old slave quarters no no no no no no no I'm already triggered Lord have mercy
The spirit of slaves is all in the house and on the property. That's a hard no for me. It's a beautiful house but I can't see myself living there. 🥲🥲🖤🧑🏿🦱🪓⛏️⛓️⛓️💥
I’m quite sure there are some roaming ancestral spirits roaming 😂😂😂
Possibly
I literally "clutched my pearls" when you shared the price!!🤣 For that price, there shouldn't be any neighbors bothered by the bell. Truly appreciate your humor.
I love how they preserved the original esthetic. For someone who appreciates that, it's beautiful.
Out of all the properties that you have shown, this is my favorite ❤️ Maybe because I'm partial to older homes. I love your channel!
This house is really nice. The owner did a wonderful job restoring it. The bell gave me chills.
I love it! The only problem is I don't have 4 million. I think it's worth it though.
I would change the blue to Robin's egg shade in that dark room.
I actually love the way the house looks. I think they did an outstanding job restoring it. I have just one problem with it: even if I could afford it, it’s too much house. I love this house , beautifully landscaped and that guest house/ pool house. Very spacious.
This is a beautiful home. I watch your channel regularly and soon as you started the walkthrough I had to grab my wife and show it to her. Let’s put it this way, we are in love with the house. We love that old style.
It is a great home. What did your wife think?
@@JonTheRealEstateGuy she loved it, she looked up the history of the house and is following it. Only think she didn’t like is the HOA
@highendtrends3508. How much is the HOA fees?
@@almurry8943 $27 a month. Not so worried about the fees but the amount of control they have. HOA’s can get out of hand.
The house felt like a maze. I couldn’t keep track of the layout. But, it’s beautiful. It will probably sell with no problem.
I love it. If I could afford it, I would buy. The one dark room doesn't bother me. Now winter heating bills are probably murder. Single pane windows. All your heating outside.
But if I could afford it, would have to get the heating situation sorted out.
Beautifully restored property! Has such a warm family feel to it...love this home!

It looked like barn wood painted over in the sun room. I like the character in the home very nicely done
Love the house. I think they did a great job restoring it. I love everything about it. My favorite of all the houses you’ve shown. I enjoy your channel and seeing the strange homes too.
Beautiful house, well done, lots of rooms and doors. That bell is old but, still functional and "loud" like me!!! 😂

Great house. I would live there.
I love this house. It's a good mix of historic and modern.

This is a winner, based on the looks. But is a very old house and maintenance could be costly. Have all the mechanics, plumbing, electrical updated?
Where was the farmhouse sink in the kitchen? Maybe I missed it. The main house looks beautiful from the outside but the inside doesn’t impress me. There was water in the basement by the wine wall. The ADU outback was nice and the grounds and gardens are really nice.
Nice home BUT i don’t think I would live in it! Bad memories 😮… And the bell😮Nawl… You always show some beautiful homes!!!
That home and property is beautiful. I would love to own it if I could. Can't change the history but I still love the home.

Love it
I love this house!!!
The single glazed windows are the major bother for me.
Lovely
The home is amazing. If I won the lottery It would definitely be a contender. 😊

Absolutely Beautiful property I love it and the price fits perfectly! I love your channel as well! 🥰
Thank you so much!
YES……Absolutely love it
Fantastic Property ❤
I would live in that house. It's beautiful! The price seems fair. I'd buy it.
House built by my people’s free labor. Keep it.

Lll❤❤😂
Facts!
Another perspective.. all the more reason why one of us should live there.
I think any property that has slave quarters should be retired and preserved for historical purposes/references. No one should be living there.
I am obsesssssed This house is a stunner!!!!
The first floor could do with one less sunroom with a few walls taken down. I don't like the dark blue color on the wall. The master suite is all that! The front door needs a little attention. I'm not a huge fan of the kitchen.

You didn't really show us the kitchen, only opened the refrigerator, then left. No info on material of countertops, storage?
Beautiful home
I love this home
I would buy the house, it is a nice house and some personal changes could be made to it.
Will buy as soon as I win the lottery.
Very nice home. Kitchen seems disconnected from the house and incomplete. The dark blue room is too dark and the ONLY room with a bold color. Would be a great home for parents with teen children who enjoy entertaining.
What a beautiful home but GEEZ I would need a better side hustle for sure! Lol
I really like this house. The dark living room has to be repainted. I'm having problems with these floor plans. Goodness. I honestly can see $3.7 for that house in that part of VA.

My least favorite part of the home is the kitchen. Everything else I thought was beautiful!
So far I'm loving this house all kinds of holidays gathering going on in my head 😊 I'm in love with this house
Nope I changed my mind slaves might be hunting
No not the slaves hunting. Did you see the video where the guy brother the plantation where his ancestors were once enslaved?
I like the house, some parts look dated but it’s nice… pretty expensive though.
Well restored but an acquired taste
Was there a leak in the wine cellar?
You know…I’m not sure
The house was beautiful! I didn’t like the wood walls made to look old and the thought of it being a slave property made me sad.
An multipurpose room
5 different cabinet colors in the kitchen? The year this house was built, they had more class than that. Why is all the trim white?
It's a lovely home, however, I wouldn't pay that amount of money for it.
Not my style. Don't like the layout. Definitely do not like that all blue living room...just too dark.
Danny going to say this used to be slave quarters then he go say what's going on something going on by the pool I'm like oh Lord the ancestors is at the pool

That all blue living room is the lazy way to paint, ceiling the same color and the trim the same color. Pure laziness that ruined the living room
I agree that was lazy😅🤣😂
I disagree. I like the full color drenched homes. I think to do it well you need to paint the trim a different sheen
I’m assuming that’s how they would have painted it in that period. Beautiful paint color but it IS too dark in there for me.
@@almurry8943 that color is perfect. It would brightethe room if the ceiling was white and trim natural wood color
Beautiful Landscaped but the house itself is NOT my style.
