This mansion needs to be moved to a larger piece of property but that’s the expensive part is the reassembly to perfect specs I would also consider just using all that material as raw materials for new projects for mantels and all the different things can be saved
Another wonderful walk-through of a Grand Dame almost past her prime. So much potential! It would be so cool if, once this home is sold, you could do a once a month peek at her restoration, so we can watch her come back to life!
@Chris Craver. Never too old to do anything..help is available .don't have to do all yourself. Labor of love ❤️ take your time and make it happen...wish you well!!!
In 1983, I bought a house almost identical to this one, in the same shape. It had stunning oak mantels which were stolen the first time I went on holiday. Amazing when I found out my wealthier neighbors were the thieves. Yes, I recovered the mantels and became a lot more careful. This house is very well-laid out and not in bad shape at all. You always want to do the "un-fun" things first, like the electricity and plumbing and roof, and the kitchen. I would also suggest do not move in until you are at least halfway through. It's harder to do, and if you're that broke, you'd better wait. This house deserves the best.
Beautiful find! Some homeowner making it their dream will have a real treasure for sure! Last year, I renovated a 1904 Victorian in NE Kansas, it also had great bones; on a large corner lot in a quaint historic district. Four BR, 2 BA, two parlors, two story bay window, butler doors, open staircase and nice entry. Wral around covered porch. We paid $47,500! We upgraded elec and hvac plumbing, gutted the kitchen and bathrooms, painted throughout and outside. New decks, new driveways. Refinished the beautiful maple floors. It was an ugly duckling and she's a very pretty swan now. Did I mention I had to empty it by myself with big black trash bags, plus garage and attic....documented six tons of hoarder stuff. Prayed over the mice and bug issue, have no problem with either now. Thanks for sharing this beautiful old house with us.
@@alliekingsley7919 as a Realtor, I find the opposite to be true. When they’re vacant like this, the Sellers are willing to do whatever it takes to sell at top price, especially when it needs work. Presenting it to thousands of old home aficionados is always a win.😀
Lots of these houses in the South, especially in Mississippi and Alabama, but unfortunately, most people with the money to fix them up don't want to live in the South. If I had the $$, I'd buy this one today.
Once again, thank you so much for pushing restoration. I cringe at the thought that some flipper is going to come in and just tear everything out and put the cheapest, most modern stuff in there. Even on RUclips, folks are brainwashed by the window industry and think they have to replace them all. I know when young people come into my home, they wrinkle their noses and say "it's so old". Yes, my house is a work in progress, but it's not like I have the original wallpaper, drapes, and antiques everywhere. Also, I think cheap modernism has killed the appreciation for beautiful wood mouldings and trim and separated rooms. That butler's pantry -- I would add cabinets back and also add a washer and dryer for a "hidden" laundry room.
I am blown away by the condition of all the fireplaces! It’s just amazing to me that this house is in such good condition. She must have had people who loved her and took good care of her for a long time. Even the really questionable decorating choices are reversible. I hope you will let us know what happens to her. It would be so much fun if someone in the Our Restoration Nation community purchased her and loved her back to beautiful. I hope someone here does that.🌸
I do enjoy videos that go through homes that have been restored correctly, especially this channel: I love the enthusiasm because I am currently restoring my own home, and it is encouraging to see what original fixtures should look like. What bothers me is when I hear suggestions to tear down walls, combine rooms or make rooms what they were not originally purposed for. Projects like those are ruining the original structure of a sound house that more than likely will create more problems. Perhaps I am an extreme preservationist, but if a buyer is looking for a modern update, they should buy a modern home. Homes that are 100+yrs need a special touch by those who appreciate the artistry that went into the architectural design.
Wish I was about 40 years younger. I would certainly love to diy this one.! And, I have no experience.! I always look forward to any video you have to show us. Each one has such pearls of experience and wisdom, and you guys are just plain adorable!
I know that entry space doesn't have the original floors visible, but I actually really like the laminate, at least on video, and would save *that* project for once all the other stuff was finished up. Such a gorgeous old home and I hope someone tackles the project and makes it shine again.
Never tire of fireplace/mantel admiration! She's a diamond in the rough. Every little insight you share is educational. Thank you for sharing your passion and talent for restoration.
I love your quote "You're only limited by what you're willing to learn" What a gorgeous property and so much potential. Not sure my family would agree to a move to the US from Australia but nonetheless, I can dream.
I purchased my first house (built 1901) in Rochester NY when in my mid 30's. I did most of the restoration work myself. I'm now in my 60's and hire people to do anything that requires more effort than changing a lightbulb whenever I buy a property. I don't enjoy doing restoration work myself and find that my time is better spent earning money and spending it to hire professionals to perform any restoration required to my properties.
What a Lady! What stories she probably has to tell. As you went thru the rooms, I could imaging children running and playing, maids and governess moving about corralling them for the days itinerary...What a gem!!! I hope she gets some great owners who see her fantastic rebirth potential!

OMG this absolute treasure made my heart sing. Thank you for drawing peoples attention to the property. It has such a great energy. I really hope it finds the right custodian. I so wish I could drop everything and take this project on as it would be a blessing. So many amazing features that have been preserved. Would love to know it’s history ?
Oh, Laine! You have made me doubly homesick. In the past we lived in two different houses that have elements from each of these. In the late 1980s we lived in a 1 1/2 story Victorian cottage. We bought it for $48,000! The neighbor next door had bought it and done the few things that needed to be done to make it livable. It was white with pink Crepe Myrtles planted in the front. This house was in Hattiesburg, MS. Unfortunately we only lived there a year. From 1998 - 2002 we lived in a 1905 four square in Alexandria, LA. It had amazing dark paneling and fireplace surrounds that had never been painted. We bought it or $98,000 and sold it for the same. We moved often for employment and for the medical needs of one of our children but I have the kind of houses you love in my blood. Keep up the good work!
I just love this house if only it was in Ohio, I would sell my current house restore this house! I have always wanted to live in a Victorian home! What a nice find! Hope some one buys this and restores to its original grandier!
HOUSE ENVY! Such a beautiful home. The old houses have so much character and charm. I love being able to see the inside. Oh my imagination just runs wild!! 🥰❤️
My grandparents lived in an old Victorian house in Missouri. I was there as a small child. I remember looking at these old window and door frames that seemed gigantic, back then. Their house also had a 2nd story porch. It was so enjoyable in the morning to just go outside and feel the breeze blowing through my hair. I hope whoever buys this house enjoys it as much as I would. It is heartbreakingly beautiful to me. 💕💗
What a lovely home. I had seen it on Zillow last week and looked at it. So glad you did this walk through as it gave us a better understanding of it. Just lovely. With that many fireplaces it must get colder there than I thought. Loved your honesty especially in the kitchen! Lol
it always amazes me how many southern properties have working fireplaces! I'm from New England & you'd be hard pressed to find properties with *working* fireplaces. Go figure 🙄
This house is definitely beautiful. I can't believe the price!!! I don't think you can find anything in CA that cheap, even a fixer upper. Great video 👍.
I absolutely love empty old houses, they just draw me in..This is a wonderful piece of property..I hope to see it restored one day soon..Thank you Lane for this lovely tour of a chance of a lifetime for someone who will love her❤️
Love these videos. Wish I was young enough and strong enough to learn how to restore something like this. Young people - follow your dream and make homes like this beautiful again while staying true to the era it was built in! They are beautiful examples of our history!
So many beautiful historical details in this Victorian home. I also like how you said overtime it could be restored. We have a comparable house in MI that we have been working on for 11 years, some areas we restored. We also have found that renovations done in the 60’s weren’t done to the same level as the late 1800’s & early 1900’s. So restoration wasn’t always possible.
I'm so glad ur doing these series in Natchez, I love that town so beautiful, last time i saw it was in the late ninties. Seeing this house makes me want to buy it & move!
Oh my gosh, if I was only 20ty years younger I’d pick up my suitcase n head to Mississippi n buy this place. It’s absolutely gorgeous n house that I’ve always wanted to live in. We always enjoy your tours and camera work in these homes. You pan very slow allowing the viewers a chance to realy absorb the exquisite beauty that is there. Most just do a 2 or 3 second shot. Thank you so much for restoring these beautiful homes.
Laine, you are oh so enthusiastic about each property you tour us through and very knowledgeable! And Kevin is the perfect videographer. Keep up the excellent work you two!!
Thank you for championing the original details. I shudder when I think how many people would try to “update and improve” the fireplaces. Arghh! In Northern California we have a pandemic of people painting all the woodwork white without first determining it’s type and value.
I always look forward to your home tours showing these homes with great potential. I have also enjoyed the book you recommended "Collecting Houses" by Ann Baker. I'm so glad I picked up a copy of that!! It's difficult to put down. Thank you!
I 💖 love how you talk about the house as a “her” cuz she is full of energy and hopefully 🙏 the new owners can expand and amplify the positive energy 🙋♀️👍🇨🇱
Wow! If I were looking to move back to MS I would grab this in a heartbeat. Talk about potential! This could easily be made into a showplace. The interior reminds me of the homes in Old Louisville.
I really appreciate the confidence you have in the ability of amateurs! Knowing that you and Kevin have worked your way through plenty of trial and error scenarios with magnificent results gives me hope for my own small projects. Thank you for showing this lovely home! I hope someone will take you up on your challenge and restore this beauty!
This house really feels like each room is more awesome than the former one and all of them are great. This house has such a good feeling to it, it is absolutely beautiful! I'm in love!
Oh my goodness. 😀 I love the floor. Plastic or not. I'm a twin peaks fan so the floor got me right when you walked in. Anyhoo. That house has beautiful potential. Good luck to the one who buys it.
I just purchased an 1803 home in Indiana. Omg..it was a dream come true and now an eye opening experience that starts over each morning. The biggest and best thing I've done so far is contact a local historian and the state preservation association. I recommend this if you buy an old home. A walking tour with someone who knows the history of my home was fantastic and a wealth of information was gained. I assumed the trim should be stripped, wrong. I assumed the fireplace mantle was stained, wrong again. Many are faux-painted to look stained. I could go on!! I'm so grateful to have discovered this channel as it inspires me even more!! I nearly forgot, be aware of lead paint...
Very nice uplifting Video.....I was going to take on a project in 1986 on the "Tower House" in Coos Bay on sale for $44K. Unfortunately, I was contacted by an individual from the Historical Society making all sorts of DEMANDS !.....I hope the good people of Miss. are more understanding and reasonable than the folks I encountered. I just sub'd your channel,Thank you..
I love that you took us through this beautiful home! I would be so down for you to make a series where you bring your viewers through fixer-uppers, and talk about what needs to be done and the cost. You raise awareness to potential buyers and at the same time, educate others who want to improve their surveying skills. Plus… they will be so fun to look at 😍
@@lucygray6162 I’ve been watching and following Kevin and Laine Berry for years. I know this isn’t a new premise for them, but it’s one that I enjoy and would like to see more of. Of course, they have loads of other content I enjoy too. Not sure why you felt the need to go out of your way to come after me for my comment… but okay. All the best! :)
House is to die for. Your enthusiasm is contagious. Great video love to watch you walk through houses and love them the way you do. The only thing I can think that’s wrong with it is there’s no backyard just the side yard and no place to park a car. Owning a car is overrated I’d be sitting on the porch or the patio drinking pink ladies.
Before going through the house, first fireplace, you’ve shown us was painted white up most probably underneath is tiger oak. Should be stripped so it would show the magnificent color against the green. Would be breathtakingly beautiful. Love the tiles on the fireplaces. Gorgeous home .great potential.
These old homes take my breath away. It is beautiful and full of unique touches. Agree, the fireplaces are incredible and in amazing condition. I'd love to see a series as the Grand Old Lady gets a face lift. Thank you for sharing this home with us.
My favourite tours houses/homes that need love put back in and this one won the the lotto. Absolutely loved it, the price so reasonable. Here in BC, Canada the average house is upper half million or more, depending where it’s located.🇨🇦❤️
Great tip about looking for cracks in the fireplace mantel, and stairway to identify foundation issues! This is literally my dream home! I want a Victorian home that I can restore to its original glory while adding my own personal touch to it. All I see in this house is wonderful potentially, not a lot of work compared to some. I know some parts of restoration is more difficult, but for the most part, this would be more fun than work. Personally I’d strip a lot of the paint and bring back the natural wood! Restoring or replacing quality wood flooring is essential! Then lighten up the spaces with light paint, some pretty designs and light colours on wallpaper (feature walls) and light colours for furniture and decor. Good natural lighting coming in from clean, unobstructed windows and good lamps, lighting fixtures etc. I’d search for of have made, some unique stained glass windows to put in the window frames that there’s so many of over top of the interior doors. I would emphasize the home’s unique historic features and add some features that fit in style with the era. These small changes is what makes these homes look like multi million dollar mansions and not the cheaply thrown together, ugly boxes that you see rows and rows of identical, boring houses with the garage sticking way out in front like it’s supposed to be a focal point, eww, a few feet apart from each other, no mature trees, no privacy, that comes with buying a new house (if you can even call it that) in the suburbs. Edit-I’ve never seen those opening screen frames in that bedroom before! I love them so much! I’m definitely going to consider adding/making those for the windows if/when I restore an older home/cottage! If you notice the outside of the house later in the video, those wooden screen frames make the windows look much more attractive from the outside as well!
I would buy this home for the fireplaces alone! The surround colors are so rich and beautiful. I can almost see them all fully restored, gleaming in the sunlight..:)
What an awesome and beautiful home. It's unbelievable that all the fireplace tiles are intact and each fireplace is gorgeous! Wish I was 25 years younger and a little better off financially and I would jump on this in a heartbeat. Thanks for the tour!!
I just love you guys, what you do is incredible, I live in Granby Quèbec Canada ,and we have a lot of victorian houses here and they are " magnificent"
So love these walk-thru vids. I am blown away at the intact condition of this house, especially the fireplace tiles!! I am only on restoration #2 but find the most frustrating thing is undoing prior renovations. The only thing about this house is that it doesn't appear to have any property with it--which for some, restored or not, is a game stopper. Thanks. I always learn so much from you all.
This home is so beautiful. The fact that non of the fireplace tiles are cracked or missing and the foundation is sound makes the price seem low if you ask me. Especially considering the age. Love love love the bed rooms and grand entry. Coat closet under the stairs, gut the kitchen and extend it into the pantry, make downstairs bath a half bath w laundry. I got a lil turned around upstairs but you would need a master bath and a second full bath. Oh it's just so beautiful.
Gosh this home was exceedingly charming. I could instantly see what I would do to restore this into my dream home that celebrates the building's history! And I can't help but think that the first bedroom you went into would make a perfect home office or reading room, or even a less formal family room.
Love these beautiful homes you share. I have always wanted to take on a project like this. My husband has renovated some of the oldest homes in Sumter, South Carolina
Initial views to the place with flowered tress along the pavement - seems it's waiting for enlightened, "conscious" adoption and care. Would you believe, upon seeing entry floor - I thought it stunning, thinking I had never seen that kind of chevron design. Laminate or not, I'd keep it. Think it's stunning. The rest, of course, yes - great bones. Loads of potential.
Dayton View in Dayton Ohio was a gem of an area for old victorian homes. I had gone through some of them. They had ballrooms on the third or fourth floor.

I’m freaking out over how gorgeous this house is! 😍😍😍
Oh, the one fireplace with white and gray (and dare I say PINK!) tile--LOVE!!!
This house really feels like each room is more awesome than the former one and all of them are great. This house has such a good feeling to it, it is absolutely beautiful! I'm in love!
What a nice place. I hope someone buy it, and restores it back to the original state. Thank you again for sharing. 👍🙂
It’s so sad to see this beautiful estate destroyed. Thank you for the tour.
Oh my goodness. 😀 I love the floor. Plastic or not. I'm a twin peaks fan so the floor got me right when you walked in. Anyhoo. That house has beautiful potential. Good luck to the one who buys it.
Jeffrey, had the same feeling. Thought it striking.
I like the floor also.
She is a beauty! I wish I wasn't going through a major health battle right now. She is amazing! Worth every penny. God bless 😊
Thank you and we wish better health to you Catherine.
@@OurRestorationNation God bless
@@OurRestorationNation I found out today its cancer. Please keep me in y'alls prayers
Thank you for the wonderful, informative tour. If I were 40 years younger I would jump at the chance to make it mine.
This is it .... This is the house I was looking at a few months back. Oh I'm so glad you're here👏👏👏 I have so many if anyone wants to reach out
Thumbs up. Going through the house and hearing you talk about it, you are the most positive person I’ve heard in a long time
If I lived in Mississippi, I’d be all over this one for sure. I hope the right person or family enter her life and make her the beauty that she is. 💕
I would move here in a second. Love this! If I weren't 68 and hubby 81, I'd be there!
What a beautiful house. I would buy this if I lived in that area. Good luck and many blessings to the future homeowner.
So much potential!!!! Those floors and fireplaces are to die for!!
Thanks, Laine! Nice job and beautiful home! Hope someone scoops her up and shows her some love!
You are right! The beautiful emerald green tile fireplaces alone are worth buying this house for!
I love that you took us through this beautiful home! I would be so down for you to make a series where you bring your viewers through fixer-uppers, and talk about what needs to be done and the cost. You raise awareness to potential buyers and at the same time, educate others who want to improve their surveying skills. Plus… they will be so fun to look at 😍
You obviously haven't seen her other vlogs. :-)
What an incredible home. So many possibilities. I hope someone buys it and gives it the love, care and attention it needs.
Beautiful home. If only I could, I would buy it and then move there. In a heartbeat. I did share it on my Facebook.
Thank you for the share! We’ll find the right owner for this beauty.
@@OurRestorationNation you're welcome. Hopefully it's someone I know so I can visit them in that beauty. ❤
I never get tired of talking about mantels! Can't wait to see this one fixed up - shes amazing.
Oh, my word. This is a stunning property!! If I were younger, I would jump on it today!! Thank you, Laine!!
Oh please, please, let someone who will restore this beautiful home to it’s original glory, get this house ❤️.
Thank you for doing Natchez. I've been looking at real estate there for quite a while. This house is a real gem.
Oh boy the ideas that flowed through my mind watching this video. It would be awesome to be able to restore this lovely home.
6:30 minutes in and if I lived in the USA I would buy this place…. It’s a dream! 🙌🏻❤️
Very nice presentation with knowledgeable hostess. Thank you.
That house would be wonderful fixer upper for the first timer or seasoned restorer.
It’s nice, there’s a lot of work to be done. Stripping, painting., fix cracks in walls and etc.
Gosh this home was exceedingly charming. I could instantly see what I would do to restore this into my dream home that celebrates the building's history! And I can't help but think that the first bedroom you went into would make a perfect home office or reading room, or even a less formal family room.
There should be a Love It button rather than a like button for this property. What a gorgeous ole Victorian house.
Just the flooring and woodwork alone is fabulous.
Love these beautiful homes you share. I have always wanted to take on a project like this. My husband has renovated some of the oldest homes in Sumter, South Carolina
LOVE it ! Wish I had the money to buy it..Thanks for sharing
oh, how I enjoyed this video! thank you so much Laine and Kevin for showing us this home. Wish I could move to Natchez, sounds like a dream!!!
Yes it’s beautiful I love older homes. I just bought a Victorian home not as big as this one but the details are amazing.
Oh, to be 25 years younger! This is a diamond in the rough.
LOL you're right, but I would need 30 years.
Dayton View in Dayton Ohio was a gem of an area for old victorian homes. I had gone through some of them. They had ballrooms on the third or fourth floor.
Man, what I could do with this! A little bit at a time but boy oh boy would it be beautiful when done.
If I was in USA I would be all over this what a wonderful project

As always your videos are a joy to watch and I learn so much, stop making me so smart 😂 I’d also like to acknowledge the great camera work, I appreciate how careful you are to move slow and gentle preventing motion sickness and giving us great views
I wish I could get this beauty!! Been my dream all my life to buy an old home and restore it. Restore, not "renovate".....I detest that word in relation to very old homes.
I love that house and I would love to live in one like it. The weather there would keep me away sadly.
To be young again and have the time to do this. AMAZING!!! LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!! Thanks for showing. Be safe and GOD BLESS.
