1996 was my Lolla. The more time goes by, the more special it feels to have seen Devo, the Ramones, Soundgarden and the Screaming Trees on the same day.
Lollapalooza 96 opened is West Palm Beach...what fun, great show when w/ rancid/Ramones/rage ... ✌️✌️✌️✌️
Me too man, incredible… the pizza plates during Metallica lol
@@jarnoldjeffries9374 hahahaha. I was at that date too. I totally forgot about the flying pizza saucers. "I wish you guys would stop throwing shit up here so we could play some rock & roll!"
It was hot as Hell at the South Florida fairgrounds ! Screaming trees,Rancid, Ramones,Rage against the Machine All Killer no Filler !🤘
Lallapalooza was a very cool thing back then
Now when people ask me what type of music I listen to, I can simply say lollapalooza 1996
And THIS is why they say Jane's was the Zeppelin of gen x and Perry the "godfather of alternative"!
Thank you so much for posting this 😊🙏
Huge stretch
Glad I found this - I was at the 1996 Rockford Illinois Lollapalooza with Cheap Trick as a surprise band. It was sweltering hot and it was taking a long time for Metallica to start so the audience started throwing hundreds (thousands?) of empty water bottles around the mosh pit and main stage.
Lollapalooza 96 Indianapolis was my 1st concert. I was 14. It had a huge impact on me
That's great because Lollapalooza 92. I too was fourteen and it had a huge impact on me as well.cheers 💯
Best time to be alive. I couldn't imagine coming of age in any other time.
I went to the first one.
@@ericsilberstein667 That would have been amazing. Just out of curiosity are you the writer?
@@bmartinez7643 The writer of what?
Al from Ministry back when he could pass through a metal detector. Also, sorry I missed you Arrested Development. We HAD to see Tool on the side stage.
God I miss that era of Ministry
RAMONES!
YES! YES! YES! I've been looking for this MTV special for years... to the point where I thought maybe I was just imagining it's existence, if Old School VHS ever needs a bar tab picked up in Chicago let me know... I owe you one
The Good ol' days..♡
From 1991 2 1996 Toronto Ontario Canada lalapalooza history Amazing experience 🇨🇦🇭🇷
Lollapalooza 93 in Charlotte NC, I got to see Layne Stanley sing with front 242!
Was at the 92 and the 95 show. Such good times. Jim Rose circus in 92 was freaky.
CONFESSION: when I was 13/14 years old I had to do some community service with the Church. I chose to VOLUNTEER to be an usher at ALL Atlanta events and serve the homeless peeps some food. Both choices impacted my life fully.
Amazing years!!
Saw this tour in two cities in 1992 and mostly remember Ice Cube and Ministry. Mostly.
Ministry in Raleigh NC, they almost had to shut the show down the crowd was so rowdy!!!
And it evolved into the most main stream thing ever
WOW! Watching this and thinking to myself, "Well he's dead now and she's dead now," it is really something!
paradise
Wow they covered 1996 the year I went near Rockford, Illinois I was living in Waukegan, Illinois. It was a bit of a Drive but well worth it!
Looks like they filmed most of this at my home venue, The Gorge, WA State, where I witnessed Primus and Alice in Chains headline an awesome Lollapalooza '93. Would like to have seen P-Funk and Beck in '94 and '95, but...we have the videos.
"Know one can do our music like 'we' can...God he meant that!! What a Festival!!! ~Ice Cube~
No*
15:54 Cypress Hill
I would start going to church to have a line-up like 1996 again at Lollapalooza..
Some where around the 19:00 mark. Bands saying they weren’t going to do it because it’s not alternative anymore “Metallica is headlining. “ “oh ok, sure count us in.” Yeah with Metallica headlining that in 1996 it had been a good two or three years since Metallica toward North America. I think they did this even before they went on their own tour. Metallica headlining lollapalooza meant a lot of concert tickets being sold.
We sat on top of a building outside the fence and watched Metallica play in Newport TN. They rattled the Great Smoky mountains that night. 🔥🔥
Alternative rock music festivals like Lollapalooza was really great 😃 in the 1990's😃it brought white rockers and black rappers together, let's see that happen today in 2022🤔😜
10:34min Yes, it is a way for him to find relief after misrecognition. Helps him look at what they are kinda offering and hiding. Its a relief after he is finish on the stage with you owing them.
Great! If you have some Psychotica material please upload it ! Thx
1:07min That girl just club Reznors face in.
Great alt bands/artists.
10:08 FISHBONE IS RED HOT!!!
10 times over!!!!!🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
96 is the year Josh Homme played Lolla with screaming trees
If you're like me & just wanted to see AIC, 8:00
Jesus ! Chris Cornell was in the voice that day! Is there any way in hell to get a copy of their sit on that particular day? That would be fantastic
Ramonesss
No one was on their phone. Strange
I’m not even sure that I had a pager in 96!
This was my first concert ever! Never forget being in the pit for Ramones as two random people got tossed over from crowd surfing and started making out. Everyone threw condoms at them. Wild days
El Colorado y Tim Armstrong en la misma funcion, FIGHT!
Before mainstream music became shit.
20:23 Oh look, Howard Stern 😧
😂😂😂
My first concert was Weird Al in 199x something
9:52min He confirms if they "win them over" after he enters into desconocimiento and they begin to look like bambis: life that "gives it self to him to feed him/and his best kept secret"
6:40min The issue of what motor skills to develop after encounter the other in its Other position and then surf, or, swim, or, Yatch to it.
Face it, you would have probably never heard of any of these bands had it not have been for Lollapalooza.
Chris Robinson was right on people!
Henry Rollins looked like Tom Brady there.
BEST EVER I WAS 16!
I saved my $$ to attend in Houston: but my parents didn’t let me... 😭
7:37min That was after he fixated on the sideshow.
20:14min Yeah, the second stage and "side shows" are truly part of the identificatory misrecognition complex. Very systematic.
Aside from Snoop Dogg court hearing that year, who else do you suppose he was talking about when Perry mentions the difficulties of putting the fest together due to a money issue and a prison issue?
Perry is one of the few from that early 90s heroin clan that got clean and survived.
Perry is one of the few from that early 90s heroin clan that survived.
11:20min I saw him play in 92 before that.
92 was best..
93 close 2nd..
Then 91
1995 imo? Was back to the original point of Lollapalooza.
Alot more 2ndTier Alternative/Indie bands
i saw that 96 soundgarden. they were incredibly terrible. didnt care on a whole nother level. the original Wu Tang line up was the cherry of that day. Metallica killed it as expected. Rancid was that HUNGRY Rancid. GREAT DAY all around.
From the clips they showed here they sounded pretty good.
5:19min They needed a number of shock absorber "not-us" to constantly travel with them. I see. Yeah, structural. "I saw a sideshow...and it looked weird like why is it so much not like us"
18:17min: They had made it "stale, predictable" etc.
What's the song that starts playing at 5:42? Can't quite put my finger on it.
Soundgarden - Rusty Cage
@@rbnh9827 Haha, I'm stupid. Thanks.
What happened to Lollapalooza bro?
Please help !
Name of the song at 15:00 ?
Thx !!! :)
Sinead O’Connor “you made me thief of your heart”
It was part from “In the Name of the Father” movie...if you haven’t watched it, please do!!!
😇
@@yessicaflores79 Thanks, but I knew it.
What I want to know is the background music in the Perry's interview at 15:00 :)
Going to concerts in the 90’s was just a different experience. I don’t really care for these big super three day festivals where they have 500 bands in a quarter of 1 million people. I don’t need to be around a quarter of 1 million people ever in my life. That and 90% of them aren’t even living in the moment there just out there with their cell phones recording it. Whatever happened to just getting fucked up and experiencing live music?
yo.. THAT NIN was THEE NIN.
That guy called iceT a band...
2:49 pretty much sums up how the music industry killed lollapalooza for me
17:50min That is what is empirically and well validatedly known as "castration anxiety".
18:20min To them, to see if it worked: it did not.
Who the fuck is Psychotica???
13:55min Safe in the metaphor of his/their victimization 180ing then 14:46min yeah the empirical problems of the problematizing micro-politics.
Lars Ulrich …
Doosh baggery at its FINEST
Spoiler alert 11:06
Sinead needed to be on another tour not lollapalooza. she was way too boring live.
Good music but sadly all communists..
Exactly
jimmy king how
R M how
Ahahahah! But not Johnny Ramone tho
The Ramones are garbage
