Do you love or hate Lars Ulrich?
Hate is a very strong & negative emotion which should be frowned upon. I would never say I hate Lars cos I don’t personally know him, but he just isn’t my favourite Metallica member.
I love Lars
I love him so much, i understand his personality a lot cause i have a simiral personality but im intoverted
@@wightangel you said it best
Love Lars!
Lars is the type of dude who wakes his wife up to tell her he’s going to sleep
He might even wake his wife up to tell her to go to sleep. 😴
LMAO!
Lol 😆
That made me laugh good one

Lars gave me a drumset through the make a wish foundation when i was 15. A complete replica of his sparkle green Tama starclassic. Not only that but signed a bunch of merch and sent me tickets to see Metallica and godsmack in san José. Unfortunately i missed my chance to meet him and the band. His assistant arranged for me and my family to meet him however we missed the phone call during the show. I never asked Metallica or lars for anything. Lars along with the make a wish team built this drumset for me. Now 33 and cancer free its one of my most prized possessions. Pretty good dude in my book.

That is a great story. It is of course entirely possible that Ulrich is great for his fans but a disaster to work with.
Cool story indeed. Have a great day : )
nice to hear your story. glad you are here to tell it😄

Lars is an inspiration. He shows everyone that you can be amazingly successful with no talent
He has talent, first of all he writes those tracks, and plays them, good drummer is not the one that can play someones tracks, good drummer is the one who can write them.
Haha 101 % True

When I first bought that "and Justice for all" album..the first thing I noticed and didn't like was the lack of bass guitar in the recording...I never understood it until now...thanks for the info.
Nikki Sixx calling people out on being assholes is the most ironic moment in music history.
True, he's a ninny.
Since when did Nikki Sixx care for Lars, i only seen the Crue with Metallica once

I think it's even moor ridiculous how Tommy was playing with a back track on tour... BUT THEN SAY THAT LARS COULDN'T KEEP A BEAT??? REALLY????

Bob Rock did Dr. feelgood and the black album. Good stuff
I can appreciate what he's done for the band on Metallica's early records but at the same time personality wise he just always struck me as a diva and egotistical prick
Well put!
Dave is just like him. There can be only one diva in a band so lars kicked him
@@mrsimpleslowmo at least Dave is charismatic, Lars Is pure psycho
I respect his work and what he started. But from everything i've seen all these years as a fan. Fuck him as a person
Lars is a very sarcastic person
Not at all a Diva
He looks like Anthony Hopkins from Silence of the Lambs in that thumbnail or was it made to look that way?
Just without talent.
The whole thing with Jason is sad, he didn't deserve to be treated the way he was, and I wish he was still part of Metallica. While Robert Trujillo is an awesome bass player, his backing vocals leave something to be desired (watch the recent live performances of "of wolf and man" and you will see what I mean) - sometimes bands can just be petty and childish - look at how Michael Anthony from Van Halen was treated by the Van Halen brothers, then you have Roger Waters and the rift with Pink Floyd... Childish. I wish some of these bands could put aside petty differences and egos end just get on with making great music.
Roberts look was half of the decision for hiring him with his playing being the other half.... and NO, his xocals cannot measure up to Jason's and that situation only confirms what a pompous dick that mediocre drummer has always been...
Ego is a hellva drug unfortunately
Waters deserved what he got
Good analogy!
this made me appreciate Rush more. 40+ years and many tragedies, they're still a family
I kind of miss the old days when you enjoyed a band for their music, and there wasn't stuff all over the internet about what they eat, or how crappy a person they are. When I listen to Metallica I enjoy the music. I'm not thinking about Lars being a dick.
Exactly!!! Everything now is "well I like so n so BUT.....". EVERYTHING gets dissected as if it really matters.smh
Speaking of music, Lars sucks live, so there's that.
Too true man too many people yapping about one and other like we've only seen one bit of what goes on doesn't mean that's what there like all the time like such bull shit how people judge people without really knowing them
You are so right. :( It's sad how true your words are.
Sad But True
Gotta fact check something: Newsted disagreement was mostly with James not with Lars.
James has admitted he was the issue so don't care what the video states. James DID NOT want anyone in the band to have a solo career. After Jason quit he started to understand his controlling issues and has lightened up on this issue
@@Heavi yes Jason N had some really hard feelings and bitterness to James and Lars 20 odd yrs ago, but do you really think he is harbouring a grudge now?

I met him after a show on the Justice tour. He was cool and casual like any of us average headbangers that were hanging out. It wasn't a meet and greet, he was just waiting around until it was time to head to the next town and was glad to chat.
one of the miracles of the music history is that such a bad drummer was able to survive in such a successful band.
I mean he is a co-finder... hes like that one kid whos party ur going to so u cant so anything else than play by his rules
because he effectively brought metallica to what it was, he was basically the head of the band and had networked it up to soaring populairty, like him or hate him that's up for you to choose, but don't leave out the facts.

You gotta love to hate Lars. That simple. I had a cat as a kid in 1991. I named it Lars. My favorite Metallica member. That cat literally lost its mind and attacked all my friends when they came over. It got so bad nobody would ever come over unless I locked Lars in a room first 😆 looking back he was just like the real Lars. Very controlling and when he wanted something he would go after it claws first.
I cant remember reading, or hearing, that Lars was very controlling. To be that way in a band would be next to impossible with Hetfield in the band. Ive never heard that ether about James... When James and Lars are the meat and potatoes... nobody has to be controlling, people just know.
@@bobabooey4537 you do know Lars get writing credits for songs he never wrote a word 2. Dave won't let his songs be put on any future Metallica releases cause he won't agree to give Lars credit and Lars won't agree without getting credit. Just 1 small example. But his fingerprints are on anything related to the band. Yes he's co founder but he is controlling. Whether or not he's right or wrong isnt my point

James was just as serious with Jason about the side project. He had the same opinions as Lars. Lars just was the one brave enough to say it.
The Black album was important at that time in my life. Thank You.
So Lars was heavily critical of Hetfield's riffs? Wow. Check out Bob Rock's critique of Ulrich (not) being able to lay down drum tracks and why the Black Album took so long to record. Eye opening.

That’s so true. Bob Rock wasn’t a good producer for MetallicA. Rick Rubin is a better producer for MetallicA.
@@rosiewhitfield123 Rick Rubin is overrated as hell. Can't make a good sounding record if his life depended on it.
Also check out those riffs perhaps? Rarely do musical leaders have any disagreements over compositions anyway, fashion news.
Bob Rock did a multi-platinum classic good job. They were never chaining themselves up to an unchanging sound anyway. Then grew too big and lost the musical ways somewhere under their past, image & expectations. Poor band.
@@rosiewhitfield123 I always thought Bob Rock was overrated. Most of the bands he has worked with already had massive fan bases. Does anyone think Metallica or any of the other bands he worked with sold more albums because of him?

Love him But seeing this reminds me of something. So I've been listening to Metallica since I was about 12 I'm from the East Coast. As a kid my mother remarried and we Moved to Carlsbad Cali. in the late 70s early 80s. This was my first exposure to Metallica. This is when Metallica was starting to hit the Scene with Kill em all and the Album They called an import The Four Horsemen I was 13 at the time. One day my buddy tells me that Metallica is playing at this Club in San Diego with Suicidal Tendencies. Us being only 13 we couldn't get into the club. So we decided we were going tp sneak into the club to see the show. Myself and four of my friends went to the club but ended up not being able to get in. So we hung out until the show was done. After the show the guys came outside and started handing out demo tapes for free telling everyone to take the tape make copies and give them to your friends which was awesome. NOW FAST FORWARD TO THE NAPSTER DAYS. Sorry Lars LOL its ironic you spearheaded the fight to not be able to download free music. But I get it a lot of people took advantage of this. But ya that's the only thing that kinda made me look sideways and scratched my head at Lars. Kind of forgot his roots there for a while Free demo tapes and go make copies lol. Love all the Metallica guy keep Rocking Brothers. I've been listening to you all from the beginning. Remember Cliff Always 🎸⚡🙏. Anyway Keep doing what you do. During the Midwest leg of the 'And Justice for All' tour in 88 I hung out with Jason.
Here are two things I noticed- He never wanted to hang out with Lars. And when Ulrich blessed us with his presence, he had an 'Entourage' around him at all times and he acted like a TOTAL TOOL.
Get over it

Funny, because that whole Jason bit, in the past, it was said by sources that Hetfield was the one in Jason's face about side projects, said he was just drunk and apologized while begging Jason to stay, etc. Now it's Lars?
I agree Lars can have an attitude; but, holy crap, that's really picking & choosing because all those big (rock) stars have bad f'n attitudes.
The bass sound thing has several stories on who did what.
Motley Crue; they're currently lying about everything and such spoiled babies that all they do is bicker and fight. My cousin is a first hand witness t MC's spoiled bickerings when she met them in Cincinnati and said she could not believe four grown men could act that way. She said it ruined her from ever wanting meet rock stars again. I remember back when Motley Crue called out several bands including Pink Floyd for live back tracking. I think Lars, here, was probably just striking back at MC after they called people out for backing tracks. My source was Metal Edge back in the early 90's. I remember being angry at MC for that.
Tommy Lee is a woman beating pos and is no John Bonham so he should not criticize Lars much because Lars is a much better person than any of the MC guys by far. Nikki Sixx was onstage and used racial slurs against an African American security guard, look it up.
I can't say anything about Jesse Hughes. I know nothing about him or the band. Maybe they're cool af and awesome people. I do not know so I can't say anything. Besides, I'm not really trying to defend that little weasel Lars, just pointing out the hypocrisy of most people.
Dave Mustaine, has legitimate gripes but then so does Metallica about Dave's behaviors and demons. Dave admits to get drunk and/or stoned and violent. He and James scrapped a few times, from what I hear. How many f'n chances did he actually get? And why didn't he give Ellefson a second chance? Who gives af if a grown man is having sexual encounters with a consenting adult female?
James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich have always had battles; but also say they are best friends. Look at Hetfield's attitude on the "Some Kind of Monster" when he screamed at Hammett. That was BS. Even Hetfield admitted he was having serious problems including alcoholism causing him to be angry and hostile so he went and got help. And in recent years, it happened again.
This video has alot of truths but also fallacies. Obvious taking advantage of the "hate on Lars" movement to get a video out and feed the masses to generate money. That's the problem with gossip; people get a small perspective only, they never get the full story so the victim gets the hate.
Before you judge Lars, you may want to know all the full stories. If he a spoiled little whiny-bag? Yes. But he is human and has points. And, as Jesus said: "Let those that haven't sinned cast the first stone." The hypocrites will. Yes, they cast stones to appear sin-free, but, they are fools only. The innocent know better.
BTW, I'm not calling myself Mr, Innocent. I'm a f'n @$$hole!! lol

Met Lars once. He was so down to earth and took his time to chat.
I met Machine Head once. They had opened for 'tallica when The Blackening came out. As we're standing in line, there's security for Machine Head standing around, and, a couple other guys and I were just kind of casually joking about Lars being a douche. This went on for like 5 minutes. Soon, the one ginormous security guy walks up to us and calmly grabs my shoulder and says, "I understand all the Lars jokes and the hate he got over the whole napster issue, but, the reality is that he is one of the nicest, most down to earth, most accommodating person that we've ever worked with. Whatever hate you see posted in articles or comment sections is 100% bullshit. That's not who Lars is at all." Obviously, I'm paraphrasing because it's been a few years since then, but, this is really close to what the gist was. We actually ended up bullshitting with the guy for the next 10 minutes or so we were in line waiting. Just thought I'd add this perspective to the bunch.
Urlich has no one to blame but himself, in one video he shouts to James and the rest of the band and nobody shouts back, that is why people perceive him negatively

I like their early albums. I don't care to know about them as people or any other musician whose music I admire. I do know from 30 years in music there's a large % of artists with stuff like narcissistic personality disorder and of course depression and bipolar disorder. They can be truly awful to deal with as people. But those 'quirks' fuel the music they create. Without their quirks they wouldn't have the ideas nor the drive to persist in bringing them to the world. And we wouldn't have the music that makes our lives better. I also know that if you ask anyone about anyone you'll find everyone's got someone hating them and saying they're awful. Even the nicest people are 'complete assholes' according to someone who expected something special from them but their unrealistic entitlements weren't satiated.
As a drummer who was originally influenced by 70s & 80s hardcore punk and thrash, particularly Dave Lombardo on Show No Mercy, Lars has always been one of the weakest live drummers, I learned a lot of Cliff era Metallica on drums and it's not that difficult, I could tell when he lost tempo or covered for a missed beat with a random roll/fill, it frustrated the shit out of me. I also found out his studio recordings are edited and put together from multiple tracks, sometimes flat out copy/pasted. No wonder he can never play a song the same way twice, he never recorded them in a single playthrough.
As a bassist that would drive me insane.

I was in line to get something signed, I saw all these people with guitars, clothing, whatever, all getting stuff signed! My friends were like, "Hey get your vest signed!" I was wearing a jean vest with an big Iron Maiden patch on the back. I asked them to sign it, James and Kirk signed it, no problem. Then I got to Lars. I'm a young teen fan, maybe I don't know shit! He was like, "I don't wanna sign that". (=hate) But he did sign it. FY! I wish he wouldn't have, doesn't matter. Cliff was the the last Metallica member to sign my vest. He wrote "Kill 'em all" on it! He was super cool! Long story long, Lars is a dick! Sometimes nothing matters though. My older brother would end up stealing it from me. Never to be seen again.
What is it with brothers and metal memorabilia, my dad caught a drum stick from Nicko Mcbrain in the 80s engraved with name and all. My uncle threw it in a bonfire..
I have listened to the first 4 since I was 13. Am 51. The drums, the solos, vocals, everything to me sounds perfect. I've been playing drums for over 20 years in bands. @@ronnie_5150 Lars has helped write some of their best songs though; he may have even done most of the writing for them, we don't know. "One" is the song I'm thinking of.
"A friend to all is a friend to none". Sounds like a good song to put in Toy Story 5. They should get metallica to do it :)
James and Cliff wanted to fire Lars in 1986 and replace him with a much better drummer ( like Dave Lombardo from Slayer ), but Cliff died soon after unfortunately, so James and Lars became the two main members of the band again.
Really? How do you know this?
@@micahrutland991 Because Scott Ian said haha. Kirk already debunked this as just band squabbles and how they'd say something bad about one if they had a bad gig. Truth is they couldn't have fired Lars. Metallica is his band he owns it
@@deletedhero5579 That's kinda what I thought. Lars has made some amazing classic drum lines, but Metallica's live show has suffered over the years because of him. If it's his band, can't bitch I guess.
@@deletedhero5579 Scott Ian himself is a dick. He is way too egotistical for his minimal band.
That is a lie. Also, Lombardo isn't better, not even close.
Lars One Of the Best Drummers EVER !!!!!! Love Ya Lars !!!!!! 🤘💃🤘 !!!!!!
I’ve been able to met Lars twice, 20 years apart. Once, in 2000 and again in 2021. Both times he was very approachable and very engaging. I did feel dismissed or that I was bothering him. He welcome a photo and was generous with his time.
I met him, hung out and had a beer with him in about 2017. He was brewing a beer with Stone Brewing, and we were also in the business. He was fine. I told him I was more of a Zeppelin fan in the 80's. He took it ok. Seemed like an ok guy.
I think Lars didn't want to play any songs live that had a hard drum riff. He felt he would not be able to do it live without messing up, so he stayed away from certain songs. Maybe due to his lack of practice, laziness or just not that good. He felt like he was always being criticized about his drums and he was hurt when he got picked on. His defense to that was to act out and hopefully he would get his way. Just my thoughts, but I think he is one of the best, he has been with Metallica since the beginning (41yrs) and no chance of a change now.
I like little drummer boy Lars.🥁
Well he was born the day after Xmas.
Give way and be humble that's the best way to humble anyone
Oh crap. I had always thought that the drums in And Justice for all sound dry and @nal but I had thought it was just the new preferred way for drums to sound.
I can’t wrap my head around any grown man, having to verbalize the statement “I’m not afraid of Lars” 😂🤣😂🤣. Who is afraid of Lars? He’s the least physically intimidating entity in that band.
Not good at context clues, huh?
He’s pretty psychotic. A psychotic man child. But Hetfield is no different just a bit more quiet about it. And yes, Hetfield is afraid of Lars.
Thats why its kind of funny.. Triple irony.
Gotta be Kirk but lars isn’t very far 😂
He meant legally. Grown ass men don't fix things on a fist fight like in your hood
I love Lars, I have always loved him and I will always love him…
You get a cookie..
I'm so glad that there are millions of people out there that also hate lars.
I don't think we hate Lars, I think we just look at him, roll our eyes and see him as a bit of a clown.
I have met Lars and spend a few minutes talking with him and he is a great person coming across very humble and appreciative.
So speaking to any person for a few minutes makes you think you can totally judge on their character?
@@Okkvltify So reading comprehension isn't a skill of yours! Saying he comes across in a certain way does not equal "judging a character".
@@Seether1975 Well, but that's not what you wrote. You wrote "he IS a great character"..
@@Okkvltify Yes, he was a great person with me and personal opinions gets formed quickly. I still did not judge his character. Anyways, I am not sure why this is such a big deal to you. Have a great day!
@@Seether1975 I could ask you the same question. It was a big enough deal to you to answer me twice. I did just the same. No more, no less. Where is the difference?
I'm 56 now and was a huge fan of the first 3 albums(the Cliff years). Back in the early/mid eighties, it was all about the music, partying and headbanging. You really didn't get into the personalities and we didn't have the internet so you never got to know who they really were.
right lol, that’s why everyone thought everybody who played death metal were satanists 🤣
During Some Kind of Monster, it just seemed like Lars was playing to the camera all the time, rather than trying to get through a rough patch they were enduring. Like, his confrontations with James seemed like something some one would say who had a weird idea of what coolness is, rather than an actual cool guy responding to a situation.
This is exactly my problem. He was also all over the map with his statements. So annoying. He made good points if you would isolate them. But when you put it together he is just a dick making no sense. He just wants his way, like Big Ed on 90 days fiance
og nu skriver jeg noget som han kan forstår men du ikke kan, han er verdens bedste trommeslager og er pænt lige glad med denne video :) gg wp
Thanks You Lars. I can't imagine And Justice For All without this dry ragressive garage sound. It fits the album so weel. The snare is more natural and I'm thankfull the album doesn't sound like EVERY other big productions at the time. It's part of the personality of the album. Part of the legend. 😍 Another proof Lars was a visionary.
Lol
My 2nd favorite Metallica album behind Master of Puppets, a very close second !!
Justice for Jason is a far superior album.
@@johnnyguillotine1673 😭😭
Romeo are you being honest or ironical here ?
I like the guy , he's done a great job.
not on the drums he hasn't .. lol
@@rgk9ruler777 stfu Dummy, like you can play the drums better.
Jealousy is a dangerous sickness.
Who is the dwarf to the right at 0:45?
I think that was Jason's date
I love the drums on And Justice for All
I like Lars. As a fellow €uropean, I bet he still feels like he's an outsider in the US.
Plus, he comes across as very articulate (and he's at least bilingual). I like that.
Spot on!
That whole statement about their fights and arguments, and all that shit is what we call in the world of music there’s no bad publicity
Some drummers are technical, like Neil Peart or Danny Carey. Others have feel, like Phil Rudd or Ringo Starr.
Lars is neither
Ask any hardcore Metallica fan about Lars. The band would never have started without him, and there is no way they would have gone on for 40+ Years without him. He is also the most fan friendly rock star in the world. He will take the time to talk to any and everyone he can. Lars Rules.
That's another great reason to dislike Lars
@@stefanlujarczyk5875 Dislike someone who basically started a band that most people like? Well now you sound jealous
@@AzizDoufikar2280 most people? Thats a bold statement.
@@stefanlujarczyk5875 If I say all people, then that's a bold statement. There millions of fans worldwide. And people who hate Metallica are probably minority compare to people that like them
@@AzizDoufikar2280 comparing to other metal bands Metallica has a very large group of haters with Lars in front. The reason is obvious. I still remember when i was a teenager I saved money to buy LOAD album and I was so dissapointed that they left their trash metal legacy. They all cut their hair etc. This kind of selling out fans remember for long.
You forgot about what a clown he was during the Napster trail not to mention hypocrite because he himself admitted to recording music off the radio. Which at it's core is the exact same thing
He was right and everyone who isn't stupid knows it. False equivalence is the lowest form of stupid.
@@redrick8900 buddy like he wasn’t recording songs ofc the radio and buying bootlegs of unreleased songs at music shops when he was a kid. Gtfoh with your dumbass logic
It's pretty crazy to hear all of this. Sounds like Ulrich holds a huge roll in Metallica success!! Let's remember that!
Is it a Ham and Cheese one?
this reminds me of their song "NONE OF THIS MATTERS"
Pretty sure the rift between Newsted and Metallica had more to do with James Hetfield and not Lars. He’s literally said that in an interview.
I seriously doubt that Lars is losing any sleep about who likes him or not .
that's the problem
Lars and Axl in the same band would have been a sight to behold
Lars seems like an absolute pain of a person to deal with in any creative endeavor. Absolutely no idea when to go with the flow. Just gets an idea in his head and like a child refuses to do anything else. What a nightmare. I have a friend almost exactly likes this. No ability to think of the bigger picture or anyone else. Just wants something and doesn't consider anything else.
I look at it this way. Sometimes the artist behind the art isn't your average normal person. His drumming does reflect his personality though. Like not in tempo = do it his way no matter what people say
Pathetic excuse for a crappy drummer.
Lars was amazing back in the 80s and early 90s. His drumming was amazing on the Justice album. I listened to that tape a million times in my headphones, mowing lawns, just tripping out on his awesome drumming.
Its great on Death Magnetic and Hardwired as well. Be fair dude, jesus.... some great Lars Ulrich drumming on those 2 fkn albums lol.
@@bobabooey4537 there's great drumming on the Black Album...be fair.
Amazing? Let me tell you who is amazing , gene hoglan , george kollias , cozy powell, neil peart ( belongs to another galaxy) , deen castronovo , steve smith, pete “ commando” sandoval, mike portnoy and virgil donatti , etc etc
@@Tigerloco70 None of those are great bands, the music is what matters. It is the total result of music that counts.
@@Tigerloco70 ngl Mike Portnoy is kinda overrated
Lars is a true dedicated Man!
And he deserves a whole lot more respect
But yeah , most people follow eachother in opinion, Lars can handle it!
I'm a "Rocker" old as hell. I think Lars is the man for the job! Nicky Six shouldn't be commenting on the personality of any musician
Not sure where you heard that about Jason, but it was James, not Lars, who had a problem with Jason doing Echobrain.
The Jason part isn't very accurate. At the meeting Jason requested that they take a year hiatus so he could go do stuff with his other band. It was more James that disagreed.
Sounds like old school magic. Keep the wheel grinding
The thing I like about Lars is that he always tries to get a different point of view on things. The way he answers questions proves it. And yea, I liked the snare-sound on St. Anger.
You're obviously the 1%. He babbles on and on and on. The snare on St. Poo is garbage.
@@laurenloffel3671 it was the 1% that supported Metallica from the beginning on when they weren´t famous at all. When those made Metallica bigger the other 99% of mainstream-fans came around.
I looked up to Lars as a kid. I taught myself to play drums by playing along to metallica songs. For that alone, I love Lars.
Indeed good for beginners
I looked up to Lars as a kid. Now I'm three times the butthole that he is.
@@latentsea I was like 13 dude. I'm still thankful for it is all I'm saying. I certainly moved on my influences, that's not what I was talking about.
@@latentsea actually... his issue is he tries to swing too hard without practicing enough. He swings. He knows how to swing. Listen carefully to the studio stuff and even live. In interviews you can learn that he is very conscious of what swing is and he does strive for it, even if it doesn't come off as tightly as it should. Sometimes, he takes too many liberties with the tempo because of this. He grew up around jazz and his father even commented on his swing in the past if I remember correctly. What he needs is to swing LESS and be more precise where it counts (tight 16ths and 32nds).
Same here. I love the top drummers in the world and listen to all kinds of technically rich music of all times signatures and subdivisions, approaches, etc... but Lars' contributions to hard rock/metal songwriting is historic. I learned what an impactful drum composition is supposed to be through playing along to the first 10 years of his drumming.
I don't know man. All of this sounds like people taking things personally, which is fine. But it seems very subjective. Metallica, the greatest metal band of all time, would not be anywhere near where it is today without Lars. From his drumming and business sense early on, to his ear for arrangement and good riffs as time went on, his importance and effect on the band is truly undeniable. He might not be the most sociable or likable guy, but I refuse to believe he doesn't deserves recognition as an all-time great artist.
I don't think Metallica is the "greatest" metal band of all time. They are very good..I'll agree..but not the greatest. And their new material..well as Beavis would say "This su*ks*..
If cliff hadnt have come to a beyond tragic end he still would have been the bassist and so much more. This band is all but unaltered despite the bass change line up since kill em all. Lars was the drummer then. He is now. The 80's the 90s the post millenia. He is not going away. No point in critics, the bands left a huge print on the face of early metal and rock. JUST ENJOY THE MUSIC. If you love it all. GREAT. if you love the first 4 pre black albums GREAT. if you love the 90s post black album stuff enjoy! if you appreciate their overall output IMMENSE! They have done what they have done which is more than other bands in the law of all things logetivity! To me this bands biggest loss was Cliff burton I think ALL of them would be better players if cliff had not died so tragically, he was a genius unknown to the genre of metal, lars would have taken note post 86 am sure, as would james and kirk. Who knows what direction the band would have taken late 80s onwards. Just my opinion of course
Metallica was a great stepping stone to Pantera, for that I am thankful
It’s not about late being a jerk, it about how he uses the same drum beat and style for litterally each song
I mean, what do you think 3 quarters of core/thrash metal is etc? This is coming from someone who goes to metal festivals lols.
He’s very smart, creative, and good in producing and stuffs he always seems to be the one who arranges everything when it comes to sound and mixing. But sometimes he’s way to diplomatic and serious and shit and he always has a very long explanation. That’s the only thing I get annoyed about him. As far as being a drummer? Yeah he’s not the best but without him, Metallica wouldn’t even exist.
so well said, and heres the weird thing....Lars black album era, esp live, was the best drummer ever, serious, for me the groove that little shit had is just incredible, listen to the proof in the late 80's early 90's live tallica, he was a god.
