Joey created Slipknot with Paul Gray at the gas station where he worked. They asked Corey Taylor to join because he is a great lead vocalist. I still wonder what they would have sounded like if they kept the original lead vocalist Anders Colsefni. Joey Jordison is absolutely right Slipknot is his own creation and his"baby", if you will be okay with that analogy.
Oderus was best entertainer ever !! There was nothing like a Gwar show. I’m not into new Gwar with the old beefcake on vocals but it was going to happen eventually. They were supposed to live on forever with new characters but brocky dying sucked !!
Joey was the kindest and most attentive dude with the fans out of all the members I met without their masks over 20 years ago in NYC outside The Limelight. I never met Corey because he skipped out with his girlfriend at the time where no one could see him, but that says enough in itself. It's a damn shame they did Joey dirty like that. He deserved better.
Agreed. Joey and mick were the nicest down to earth guys. Clown and Taylor were jerks. They are horrible live now. Corey can barely make it through a song. Corey showed his true colors when firing Joey who started the fucking band! It's not Corey's band. Yet he claims its "his baby" Dudes a fucking joke.
Dirty...bro they kicked him out due to drugs...it's a rule.... Then he overdosed..... His life.... He did not chose slipknot...he chose drugs ..not drums...drugs
@@MusicmyZombie He wasn’t on drugs towards the end of 2013, it was his transverse myelitis that caused him to get hospitalized and fired, the band thought he was on drugs.
To this day, I still wish Slipknot members would have just stayed out of public eye and were still hiding their faces, just releasing music only. I just think that would be so badass. Like, still do the interviews, but only stare and be crazy like they were early on, and clap back at any drama with the lyrics in their songs like Eminem does. The Banksys of Metal.

He was an amazing performer, as are all the guys in GWAR. I'm not a huge fan of their music, but I don't regret going to see their shows, it was always a good time.
I find it funny how Cory and the band refuses to tell us the truth! Because they are allowing us to have the 50% Half of the story from Joey’s side. And not the other 50% on their end….. it’s like they want us to continue to dislike their responses about Joey. Why not just come out with the truth already?! it’s been 9 years Joey said only one member came to visit him in the hospital. They accused him on drugs when he was not playing right instead of actually trying to be there for him after knowing him for years! They should’ve canceled tours until they got help for their friend!! But it seemed like they were more concerned about tours, future albums, and money! They rather get a new drummer and move forward instead of helping their friend, again they have known for years!!! Like TF?! I’m sure there’s a full story here but they refuse to open up about anything. Again it’s like they want us to dislike them!! I’ve been pretty annoyed when Corey announces SLIPKNOT IS NOT ENDING THIS ISN’T THE END OF THE BAND. Literally every time they lose a member he just repeats himself. Chris from an interview on RUclips right now from 2008. He literally said when he first joined there was no love in the band. Now he left the group after having disagreements on money and business.. And Corey once again wraps everything up in a bow and says the band is not over don’t worry…. It’s like he doesn’t care that people are leaving out of the band from his life! I’m sure Corey does care.. But how he approaches these interviews it seems like he doesn’t………. 😔 When Avenged Sevenfold lost the Rev. They didn’t just get a new drummer in a heartbeat. They were actually debating about ending the band after losing someone they’ve known for years. At least they stopped and took a moment to reflect on their friend. 🖤💙🖤
Avenged sevenfold is one of the greatest band to walk on this planet and i think the only reason they continue is because Jimmy parents told them that it's what Jimmy would have wanted for the band.

Anyone acting surprised by these videos shouldn’t be. The rock and metal community is still toxic as shit and fans hate anything/everything different. Obviously not everyone, but a pretty decent chunk are still either elitist old heads or younger crowds being elitist that just hate on shit and refuse to move forward. In summary: nah. This channel isn’t hating. It’s pointing out the obvious.

Love slipknot and respect Corey. However I do understand that a band is a business and your partners/employees aren't always on the same page. We as fans shouldn't idolize everything any of the members do. We are human and we fuck up. Theres plenty of shady shit that has happened in this band and will likely never stop. Unless its something horrendous I'll still be just as much of a fan.
Nah, firing Joey was a huge mistake. Crahan had a lot to do with it as well, and before someone says that Jordison was ill, he performed with a lot of bands after Slipknot. Scar the Martyr, Vimic and Sinsaenum (this last one is awesome actually). People change, but that was just a stab in the back. I don't care about Slipknot anymore, but I gotta say we are not your kind has some good tunes. However, it's not the same excitement as it was in the early days, they just want to keep milking the cow while they can.
Corey albeit talented, always struck me as a guy unwilling/unable to ever take the high road in any situation. Any sort of tensions arise, it's right to throwing insults.
Okay now I am seriously truly very very much pissed off right now at who created this video. Joey really did pass away in his sleep from natural causes. A person who did grow up with Joey and Paul both were the first ones that knew it before anyone else and then just because at the time he was my neighbor in the apts where I live I also knew about it from them and I cried when I heard it from him to his significant other that Joey Jordison had passed away that morning. It's been just over a year now but I still can't shake it from my own mind at all. Just bawling my own eyes out now as I am writing this right now. I'll never forget the time Joey Jordison stood up for his fans when Fred Durst made the nasty negative comments about Slipknot's fan base. Joey Jordison did it with class. He is still one class act. He'll never be duplicated ever again either. It's just impossible.
No one dies from natural causes in their sleep at that young age. Either he had some unrevealed life threatening disease or from poor lifestyle choices.
@@joeyboomdrums While I don't necessarily agree, that's beside the point. I still don't see how this has anything bad to do with the vid. Unless people expected him to actually say that a broken heart factually killed Joey?? Surely that's not what pissed off the original comment
I think when Corey was dealing with addiction and flying high in fame, he wasn’t the best at decision making. But I can’t help but notice dude seems different now. Much wiser of a person.
Now I wonder about Joey being in a different headspace from the rest of the band because of Paul Gray's death. That shook all of them probably in a way no death of any other member would. Corey has even said the ONLY good thing about making All Hope Is Gone was that he and Paul got closer. He must've been one of those good ones who always die young.
To be fair and clear a few things up- MGK was *not* headlining riot fest. He was on a side stage, unfortunately for him, playing overlapped with slipknot and you can get them over the ending of his set. Also his crowd was pretty small (most were at slipknot’s stage - which was the headliner stage of riot fest)
He's a majority share holder , along with clown, the two of them basically turned the rest of the band into employees , that's called betrayal ,when Paul died the wheels started moving , and when Joey revealed his condition they saw the opportunity to take control of slipknot if they could get rid of Joey legally , and the rest is history .
@@GallowayJesse Joey, Shaun and Paul made the band. They were on their way to success before Tyler and would’ve made it without them. He’s a dime store frontman
This is exactly when i dropped Slipknot... Without Joey, it wasn't Slipknot anymore. Period! Now, it's more Stone Sour oriented and the share holder concept is total BS! I saw 2 live shows and got all CD until they fired Joey. It's dead to me now
I actually considered subscribing when this channel started popping up with Rock and Metal news, but honestly it's just sad to see someone sink so low just to stay relevant in RUclips's algorithm by using this platform to spread negativity and ignite more drama. Considering you have more than 70 thousand people subscribed to your channel one would think that you'd actually put an effort into making at least some form of original content instead of recycling negative content (that's not even original) over and over again just to even further ignite more drama in the comment section. Bottom line pathetic. PS: Here's an idea for the next video: ''Why Rockers Can't Stand Heavi'' 🖕🖕
as far as I remember Jim Root, after he was fired from SS, said that one of the individuals from that band was only concerned about money, not the whole band
...i was that Fan that asked David about the Corey statement. I didnt ask it to "rekindle" a feud. I asked it because i am a massive fan of both bands. And I knew that the remaining members of Korn were still friends with Slipknot. In this day and age, you can ask anyone anything and David was open enough to answer. David didnt say he beat him up. He said he confronted him backstage and if he says anything else that he would beat him up.

He used to be a hero of mine back in the early 2000s but I started disliking him because he would act like he was the voice of metal and his opinion was truth. He hated the "mainstream" complained that guys like Korn sold out yet only a few years later from IOWA he became what he said he hated. He wanted to be in the mainstream eye to get attention for himself. Turned Slipknot into StoneKnot/SlipSour and Stone Sour into Nickleback lite. Years on and hes still proving me right. I agree w you there but honestly the whole beef was Corey’s fault. He’s the one who made it public first and then MGK came out and twisted up the words about the verse. I’m a huge fan of both, but I take MGK’s side, and Slipknot fans act like he was the one who started it. He just responded. The whole thing could’ve been kept under wraps and talked out privately
@@6ixsidejoey661 MGK kicked it all off in December 2020 by disrespecting bands on Warped Tour he was on because "shoes they wore" were too comfortable for Rock and specifically speaking about New Balance shoes which are typically associated with the older generation. Then CT did make indirect comments a few months later (Feb 2021) about not liking the music of an artist who crossed over after failure. Sure it was brash, but their collab effort/fallout happened back a year prior to this so I'm sure at that moment CT felt disrespected by MGK for trying to force something on their collab back then ( and we don't know the finer details of what was said after he bailed) + making his Warped Tour comments a few months prior to this interview. I can see where CT thinks MGK is disrespectful to the genre at this point considering he is a crossover artist. It could have died there but MGK then said at Riot Fest (Sept 2021) that he was "happy he wasn't 50 and wearing a mask" and shortly after posting on Twitter about how bitter CT was on his track because his "verses sucked". The CT receipts dates show that MGK brought up this "sucky verse" nonsense almost 2 years after the collab failure. This then led to CT's comments in Q&A earlier this year where he specifically mentions the shoes comments and being disrespectful to metal. Obviously CT has a track record of voicing his opinions on things but in this situation its hard to take MGK's side when he's been disrespecting the genre and Slipknot/CT along the way.
@@BR25x I'm amused by the fact that Corey Taylor is from Iowa, looks like a thumb, has a side band that sounds like Nickelback, and sings a song every night that contains the line "biggity biggity bitch boy," and yet the best insult MGK can come up with is "you wear a mask,"
"All of Slipknot's members are employees of Corey and Clown" In one sentence, this band went from one of my favorites to now very suddenly perhaps my most hated. I'm actually kinda really pissed discovering that piece of information. They did already kinda lose me on Gray Chapter ngl, but I went to see em when they were promoting that album cycle. In hindsight now, it feels less like I was supporting the band Slipknot and just supporting Corey and Clown. The only thing I hate with corey & clown is the trying to rip off fans with there so called business ideas like the stupid NFT'S nobody wants plus it seems to be more about making money for corey & clown & not the band as a whole I wonder who will be kicked out next remember corey wasn't the first lead singer so was never his band either to start with
I’m more irritated that they tried to sell the story that they were “family” or “brothers” Only to come out later and say everyone except Corey and Clown are employees. That’s kind of a douche bag move, imo.
Exactly 💯% correct! Joey and Paul together as Joey Jordison took his breaks at work would talk with Paul forming Slipknot and then decided to ask Corey Taylor to join because he is a very good excellent lead vocalist. But Anders Colsefni is the original lead vocalist for Slipknot and then was originally called the pale ones way before it became Slipknot. FYI for you. Because an amazing person like you really does deserve the truth for the comments and standing up for Slipknot. Seriously. People need to learn how to get along with others. And BTW they should have learned that way back in preschool. So sad when people forget all about that lesson. Especially those of us who did not have any siblings and grew up as an only child.

iirc an interview with one of the mushroomhead members, they stated that it's the fans who ultimately kept the fund going. Both bands had moved past it all early on. Slipknot got bigger then mushroom even though mushroom was older and more established
the mushroom part was not true, it was issues between the fans making it about the bands but it wasn't, that part needs to be fixed. Both sides have talked about this.
I've always liked Corey Taylor and he just speaks his mind...I knew these stories but didn't know that Roadrunner Records denied signing Mushroomhead... imagine they did and they'd probably be either bigger or just as big as SlipKnoT ..

Hot take but I believe MGK knew full well what he was doing. Coming from a rap background and controversies, he knows that's how you get attention. It just so happened that he picked the juggernaut of Metal feuds as his starting point and couldn't handle the backlash. He figured it would get him as much press as it did when he jabbed at Eminem; which it did. It's the nature of the beast and nothing actually gets resolved

There is a clear pattern of betrayal inspired by greed. Taylor reminds me of Conrtney Love for some reason. If his early moves could be explained or tolerated, firing Joey was a dick move, finishing touch in the picture. Although I'm not sure if it was Taylors call at all, Slipknot decline that followed was not a surprise for anyone who has been around since band' early works.
That also sounds like regular issues that would arise for anyone throughout such a busy life. Have been a huge Slipknot fan since ’04 and I can‘t deny that they often helped me get back up on track when I felt done with myself… Slipknot and Radiohead to be more precise. The more older I got, the more I started analyzing the different individuals in bands, it fascinated me somehow. Especially with Corey, it‘s a two bladed sword. This guy speaks honestly about things nobody dares to speak due to todays wokeness. He wrote some very meaningful and epic lyrics and had the attitude. But - keep in mind, if you get treated like god, you start acting like him. Just how it happened with Shawn (Clown) their egos and success got to their head. Corey started to become very superficial, the new slipknot music sounds the same since .5, lyrics are vague and blend, there is no more ground breaking stuff and yet, Corey is acting as if he‘s the man - when he‘a not anymore… He becomes more and more annoying, than rather become more and more relevant these days. When he started this „crying“ at award shows, which looked honestly fake to me, that is when it first got me where I thought „damn, he knows what he‘a doing, he‘s milking this thing and people fall for it“…
And you’re the authority of fake crying since when? What am I supposed to do with that information? I’ve cried before, anyone could claim I’m faking when really it’s real. Who’s the authority on crying? Cause I’m sure it ain’t you.
I don't have a big problem with Corey. However, we do not need Corey's opinion on, literally, EVERYTHING. STFU, Corey, and just be a rockstar. I don't care what you think about anything. Although, calling Nickelback the "KFC of Rock music" was freaking hilarious, and apt.
It is actually sad to see everything just comes down to money instead of “family” Also u think being together for 20+yrs they can talk this out as a band and setup business opportunities for everyone partner or associates, but sorry, money come first. Don’t get me wrong slipknot is my fav band and I’ve been with them since 1998-99 but I guess everywhere every jobs are down to the same thing, money.
I’m a huge slipknot fan and Corey Is a big part of my enjoyment of slipknot. Sometimes he’s a little much but where’s there’s disagreements there’s also lots of good points, comedy and love. The man speaks his mind when he wants to and he doesn’t give a fuck how you feel.
That's the dilemma with being a fan of any band. What initially brought you in was a group of hungry guys that you saw yourself in. You connected with what they had to say. Then time happens. If the band played their cards right, they're not gonna be starving anymore and thats where the disconnect happens. The fans didn’t grow successful with the band, we made them successful. Now these guys have yatchs, 401ks, stocks. To the majority, that's unrelatable. Maybe this is why some fans say the band "sucks" now. They stopped being hungry. The art became formulaic. They became the thing they raged against. "The band you loved was 20 years ago..."

I lost all respect for him when he tried to sue Burger King for "ripping them off" when they weren't even the first band to use the mask gimmick. I've been a Slipknot fan since 2003. Since then, I've watched the band evolve. Over the years, I've noticed once a group gets so large a party or parties in said group consolidate control. It's easy to spot, just pay attention to who is still around when lineups change. When Slipknot's lineup began changing, excluding Gray, my guess was Shawn and Corey were in the driver's seat, and it would seem that is correct. It's such a shame that money and ego end up tearing groups apart like this. It's laughably ironic to me that Corey would blast so many other musicians trying to make it in the business and/or explore other business opportunities when the man has THREE side projects exploring different genres/sub-genres of music, has published at least one book, and regularly goes onto talk shows.
I met him personally, despite of his past and back story, he is really a good person. He doesn't hesitate to take pictures to us and he even signed my old slipknot cd album. He always smiles. He is really good for his fans
I used to think Justin Silveria was the best drummer. I made it a personal goal to learn every nuance to a Korn song. The man who taught me basic beats, how to tune my drums , and the importance of vibration, killed himself. He introduced me to drums. He guided my ear towards hearts like Terry bozio and Neil pert. When I was mainly focused on vocals. Drumming is a fickle community. Thus metal is . Keep playing
The metal community is the most toxic of all hardly ever see metal heads have anything positive to say love him or hate him corey is one of the best metal front men of all time
so apparently you've met ever single person in the metal community! that's kinda impressive, or are you just making unfounded sweeping statements, hmmmm i wonder which it could be.
Some bands/people need to remember that their first and foremost goal ought to be making music. Stop fighting, stop being dicks to one another IN THE SAME BAND, and remember where you came from. Put your passion into music and stop worrying about what other people think.
So basically over the years the band has always had its ups and downs with its members. I used to wonder why exactly and chalked it up to well when you have 9 band members around you 24/7; you're bound to fight but honestly now i'm seeing it a bit different. Joey and Paul created the band. Yet Corey and Clown wanted to own the band. That alone would create tension. Kind of funny that Chris tried to fight it. I get where he is coming from but anytime I seen that dude live he wasn't really doing anything else but mosh pitting with the crowd or running around. Dude was a certified roadie.
Corey taylor has the "I'm the better person than anyone" attitude but he lacks professionalism. He acts like a child on stage and sings about senseless things about being sensitive all the time. Corey taylor also doesnt make decisions properly, it was always Joey, Paul and Chris.
There are five types of leaving in bands 1. When a member dies, when so, it is best to take a long break or end the band entirely (e.g Avenged sevenfold who took a long break after their first drummer's death, linkin Park who took a long break after their first singer's death, Nirvana who entirely stopped after kurt's death) 2. When a member leaves due to physical problems (like an illness) which should be taken seriously and be followed with a break too (e.g AqME who entirely stopped after their second singer got a possibly mortal illness (he is fine now and got into a New band)) 4. When a member is fired, the band should take a break if he got fired under Bad circumstences 5. When a member leaves by choice not influence by the band's relationships, which is the only time a band can continue with no breaks (e.g AqME's first singer who left to become a tatoo artist, the band got their second singer (who I already mentioned) and continued without taking a break) Out of all of these, Slipknot got three of them, they did all three wrong

I find it funny how Cory and the band refuses to tell us the truth! Because they are allowing us to have the 50% Half of the story from Joey’s side. And not the other 50% on their end….. it’s like they want us to continue to dislike their responses about Joey. Why not just come out with the truth already?! it’s been 9 years
Joey said only one member came to visit him in the hospital.
When Avenged Sevenfold lost the Rev. They didn’t just get a new drummer in a heartbeat. They were actually debating about ending the band after losing someone they’ve known for years. At least they stopped and took a moment to reflect on their friend.

Corey started to become very superficial, the new slipknot music sounds the same since .5, lyrics are vague and blend, there is no more ground breaking stuff and yet, Corey is acting as if he‘s the man - when he‘a not anymore…
He becomes more and more annoying, than rather become more and more relevant these days.
A bit off topic but KFC chicken makes me feel nauseous. Same with popeyes.
Chick fil a domination forever
It is actually sad to see everything just comes down to money instead of “family”
Also u think being together for 20+yrs they can talk this out as a band and setup business opportunities for everyone partner or associates, but sorry, money come first.
Corey is over-opinionated.
“Why MGK fans can’t stand Corey Taylor.”
Fixed it.
this should be the title, honestly these accusations are so god damn petty 😂
I wouldn't call myself a heavy "rocker", but I love Corey in interviews. He seems very sweet.
ive met 5 slipknot members, jim and corey were the best to me as a fan after a show, they weren't even performing i think i saw unearth? or trivium? At a theatre show and 5 slipknot members showed up and they all passed me by while wearing a slipknot shirt, corey stopped to talked to me about my shirt, and jim came righg after him with his gf christina from lacuna coil, snd they took pictures with us. the other guys passed by acted like they didnt see anyone we were literally in the entrance to go backstage to the green hallway like you had to pass thru there. Itd not like they owed it to me but the fact that corey and jim went out if their way and have a good 10 minute conversation with me and two of my friends meant alot to us we had just turned 18 and took a few pictures signed my shirt i was wearing it was sick. Still have the pictures of an old ipod still have the signed shirt. Corey taylor treated me a fan like he knew me.
I lost all respect for him when he tried to sue Burger King for "ripping them off" when they weren't even the first band to use the mask gimmick. Mr. Bungle and Gwar came out well before Slipknot, and I'm sure there are bands that even pre-date them. I still like Slipknot's music, but just have no respect for Corey on a personal level
Mushroom head
5:10 Elmo was really getting into Stone Sour, LOL
Better than Nickleback. Lol
@@amyhill9127 True! I like Nickelback too, but saying that Stone Sour sounds like Nickelback, or that Stone Sour ripped off Nickelback... man if that ain't the biggest lie, Lol!
Joey and Paul were slipknot and Corey would be pumping gas somewhere if he hadn’t been carried
Nobody believes but you and a much of morons. Slipknot started to become more than a local band when Corey joined you think that was a coincidence?
That email exchange at 8:49 sounds downright...professional.
Corey Taylor And His Ego's
Best. Rock. Videos. Forever.
I met him personally, despite of his past and back story, he is really a good person. He doesn't hesitate to take pictures to us and he even signed my old slipknot cd album. He always smiles. He is really good for his fans
When they say rockers hate Corey Taylor, they're not actually acknowledging MGK as a rocker are they?
Thats a tough one.
All i can say is, Joey the greatest, ever!
Who the fuck is Justin Silveria?!
The metal community is the most toxic of all hardly ever see metal heads have anything positive to say love him or hate him corey is one of the best metal front men of all time
Wait to you get a load of the hip hop community lol
Cus there’s one thing in common amongst most of us and that’s were miserable lol
@@kingtaco4064 good point lmao
so apparently you've met ever single person in the metal community! that's kinda impressive, or are you just making unfounded sweeping statements, hmmmm i wonder which it could be.
Nahhh, rap is definitely worse, how many rappers getting shot is crazy
Corey will always be my favorite. I love his voice and his personality❤.
So basically slipknot is corey and clown and you play ball or you’re fired
Rocker/metal head here and I love Corey Taylor. Badass vocalist.
5:00 😂 😂 Come on, Corey! Tell us how you really feel about Rick Rubin 🤣
Poor Rubin had to work and deal with the ego maniac Corey Taylor lol.
Corey taylor has the "I'm the better person than anyone" attitude but he lacks professionalism. He acts like a child on stage and sings about senseless things about being sensitive all the time. Corey taylor also doesnt make decisions properly, it was always Joey, Paul and Chris.
There are five types of leaving in bands
1. When a member dies, when so, it is best to take a long break or end the band entirely (e.g Avenged sevenfold who took a long break after their first drummer's death, linkin Park who took a long break after their first singer's death, Nirvana who entirely stopped after kurt's death)
2. When a member leaves due to physical problems (like an illness) which should be taken seriously and be followed with a break too (e.g AqME who entirely stopped after their second singer got a possibly mortal illness (he is fine now and got into a New band))
4. When a member is fired, the band should take a break if he got fired under Bad circumstences
5. When a member leaves by choice not influence by the band's relationships, which is the only time a band can continue with no breaks (e.g AqME's first singer who left to become a tatoo artist, the band got their second singer (who I already mentioned) and continued without taking a break)
Out of all of these, Slipknot got three of them, they did all three wrong
