Layne wrote most of the lyrics to this album and approximately 50% of all the other albums lyrics. Layne even wrote several songs completely by himself including Angry Chair, Hate to Feel and Head Creeps
Jeremy Hamrick Truth! Layne’s lyrics gave me a voice in my most trouble times, and they still give me a voice today.

The people that knew him say that he was very sweet and a gentleman. I really wish that drugs would have never touched his life. He would have gotten so many awards for his Amazing vocals and have had a lot of fun, I bet. I hope you fund peace and Demri wherever you are our dear Layne.

When they made this you could tell Layne was barely holding it together. He breaks my heart. When he joined Mad Season they were all in recovery except Layne and they had hoped they could help him.
Sad thing is, he didn't want help. I think he was resigned to dying.
"Slow suicide's no way to go". Everyone around him knew and nothing helped. The worst thing about the end of his life is how alone he really was. To have been dead that many days and the only reason anyone knew was because there was no activity on his checking account.

It is dark and scary, it's some heavy shit but its amazing
natty boyo Coming from experience, most people who, personally, are “Dark” tend to always be cracking jokes around other people, and usually have a pretty good humor. I’ve come to find that people who are extreme on one side of whatever spectrum, are very easily able to also go, or relate into the other side. Sad thing is, most people who are always making joke, are also sometimes the most depressed people as well.
Anybody wish they could quantum leap back and help Layne in some way? Someone with a voice like that only live 34 years is simply tragic.
I have a feeling that ANY of us would kill to help him, but all the effort of friends and family seemed in vane 😢

After I read in David de Sola's book about how, in his final years, Layne would go to this comic book store near his condo and just shuffle around, high on dope and look at cool stuff, knock things over and then buy whatever caught his attention... my heart was hurting so much that I needed to watch this again to cheer myself up. There's just something about that scene I think we can all relate to cause when you're in this really dark place, stuff from your childhood and childlike things can make you feel better in a way that no drug can. I don't know if I can really describe why picturing him in that store just is do immensely sad but I hope I'm not the only one who feels that way. It's like, he had nothing to live for at that moment but he still tried to make himself feel a bit better.
Even though Layne's clearly a bit absent in this video, he's still joking around and Jerry as Nona and Sean as the clown are literally one of the funniest things I've ever seen in my life.
I love Layne but when I think about his 'last days' makes me so so sad. I think no one really helped him especially after Demri died :(

@@hilarycurtis6768 lots of people tried to help him Sean, Jerry, Mike McCready to name a few. But Laynes addiction was too much, he just cut off everyone and stop answering knocks or calls, nothing you can do as a friend in that situation when an addict has given up on living it's very sad.
He breaks my heart. You can tell he was resigned to dying. He always looks so lost. I see him and I just want to wrap him in a cozy blanket and hug him. I don't know if he ever truly understood just how loved he was.

My grandpa did. And in Oklahoma
I saw Layne's final arena show at Kemper Arena in Kansas City, Missouri, on a bill with the original lineup of KISS in 1996. Nobody knew. People complained that the sound was off and basically ignored AiC at the time. They had a reputation of opening for difficult to open for bands. In 1991, I saw them open for Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth. Those fans are not nice. AiC stuck to their guns and won over many thrash metal fans including fans of Slayer, the hardest crowd to please in all of rock at the time.

When Godsmack first came out I loved the song "whatever", but thought Stone Temple Pilots and Alice in Chains should file a joint lawsuit against them for throwing their sounds in a blender and passing it off as new music.
