So glad you have found your new garden.
Oh my, Mandarin ducks! Elegant! Enjoy the new place, gardening, cruising, and sitting by the fire pit!
We hardly ever see them. Such beautiful birds
Made,up for you both best of both worlds comes to throughs who wait xxx
I’m 61 and love my ebike. It’s pedal assist so you still have to pedal but it just helps the knees on hills. Totally recommend one.
I love the walk abouts and thinking if it was me I would be on a bicycle lol. Cheers 👍😊🍻
What a great idea. You will have the best of both worlds.
Happy to see you've finally got your "patch" . Will be interesting to see the changes you make. Don't overdo it!.
Best of both worlds
Please don't leave Jess behind. Get a baby stroller or some kind of small cart so she can be included.❤
Not sure how this would work on craggy hills😏
I hope the medication helps little Jess. I am so looking forward to seeing your mooring and happy to hear you'll vlog gardening as well as cruising and walks!
Jess seems much better now thank you so we are keeping our fingers crossed for her
Happy Happy 👍 Go on, make us all envious, why dont you. 😄
Best of both worlds!
This is just perfect! Your patience has been rewarded and I cannot wait to watch this next chapter. Prayers for Jess and best wishes for your green thumbs!
Thank you Holly. I'm really looking forward to weaving outside when the warm weather arrives
@@FloatingOurBoat WHY!.. do you have to leave your old dog behind for "walks".. get a tow behind trolley.. or a dolls pram.. she can still have her short walks & you get a little extra exercise towing her part of the ways.. lovin your travels from NZ 😍
I new it, good sensible move, glad you're still going to be cruising.
Fran looked like she was going to explode with excitement x
Sounds SO IDYLLIC...Good for you. That would be my heaven too. Life brings to you what is right for you if you want it enough. I can see how much this is right for you. Bless 😊
Thank you x
ahhh, best of both worlds
Looks like you've found a wonderful slice of Yorkshire heaven with this plot/mooring, Congratulations. I'm sure you already know but maybe give Glucosamine Chondroitin supplements a try for Jess and her poor old joints. In my experience giving it to my elderly pets over the years it can really help them.
Yeah, good luck, you guys doing you ! Watched 3/4 of your post before being dragged back to my life...
Lancastrian here. Barnoldswick is either pronounced as it is spelled or as "Barlick". The Royal Mail refers to it as Barlick at the sorting offices!
Don't keep the ducks out of your mooring. They are great for sorting out any problems with slugs and snails. Congratulations on finding your new base.
That is a good point
@@FloatingOurBoat but your choice of course if your growing veg I can understand u wanting to protect your garden xx ❤️
✌😊👍 fair play absolutely brilliant what a beautiful place
Have so enjoyed your videos, and I've gone back and watched most of them. I agree, a wee doggie stroller for Miss Jess. She'd be so sad to be left behind. Anyway, y'all are a real hoot, keep them coming. I can't wait to see your canal side garden. Sending only blessings to you.
I will be praying that all goes well for you x
So pleased for you all ,,
congrats guys so good to see it is all working out for you both
New horizons exciting times well done
Sounds wonderful. What a perfect situation. Every best wish.
Thank you
Well done you sound so happy xxx
So pleased Fran and Rich that you have found the perfect place for you all 😊, I’m looking forward to watching how your plot develops and learning some garden tips too. I hope Jess’ meds help, bless her, have fun and I look forward to your next vlog x
I am so happy for you. Love your videos.
Sounds like a lovely spot and very close to the Pennine Way me suspects. I see lots of walking on the horizon.
Glad to hear about your good news. When I grow from seeds I put the seeds in egg cartons. When it is time to plant outside I just cut the carton and plant them in the carton.
I have done this in the past and must do it again now.
Well done.
Awe❤
We bought an Angel Wings plant and the slugs and snails completely decimated it!
Oh No!!
Feel great for you!
Cool! Enjoy!
Thanks for this great update and lovely cruise, I hope that little Jess gets better soon and it will be fantastic to watch the progress of your mooring and growing plot. I hope that you are both doing well. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Thank you Stevie. Jess seems to have a bit of a spring in her step again now so we are hoping she will be ok
Congratulations on your new home plot. You are right, nowhere is perfect APART from Yorkshire. Welcome to God's own county 😊
😂
Congratulations ... Well done!
Congratulations so pleased for you both enjoy 😊
beautiful!
Cannot stop watching you :)!
🤗
Congratulations
Welcome to Yorkshire ❤
Fantastic news 👍👍👌👌
I went to work on the farm next to Foulridge Tunnel at the age of 18.
Congrats! Looking forward to seeing more.
So happy you two found what you have been longing for. A plot of land and Medicine for the Soul!
Lovely so excited for you both xx
Congratulations! Hope it works well for you.
Great vlog guys although a bit wet enjoy
Sound like the perfect solution if u ask me! 🤗
2 miles is in the neighborhood in America. :) Just love your boat, the parking spot seems perfect. Love the videos, thank you for sharing your experiences.
Fab, lovely place. We first met our boat around there last year. Love and hugs
From what I've observed over the past few months, Rich, you do have a lovely lady, you're very fortunate. I'm sure Fran is just as well with you, lol. I've been flying solo since June 1986, Happily divorced, lol. Heck, at 73 years old I might as well resign myself to being a Bachelor, we get set in our own ways and most of us single old goats just aren't fit to be recycled, lol. I enjoy your trips through the cruises. When we're sitting at your table in your boat, I feel as though we're just looking at each other when you're speaking, you and Fran, it seems so real like I'm there with you two. I'll cut this short for now until we can talk more. Be safe and keep the shiny side up! BTW, my prayers for your little one who's not feeling so well, hoping she'll bounce back real soon.
Thank you so much. We do both feel we are really lucky with our other halves and couldn't imagine it being any other way. x
I love that you have found a little place to garden and have some things. I enjoy watching you forage too. :)
Get a push chair, our Frank loves his😊
Really happy for you both . . . Congratulations!
congratulations 🎉🎉🎉
Lovely vlog!! Thanks!!
Enjoy your mooring and narrowboat life......while you both have good health....
I’m glad that you guys found a little peace of paradise now you can grow your vegetables 🥗 and herbs
And keep on cruising 👍😊🇨🇦
Brilliant! A permanent mooring! Just in case the diesel prices go up again, you can shelter on the mooring and do some gardening for a change. During mid Winter it will be so much better just to stay put than trying to "cruise" in frozen canals. Good luck with the project ahead - John xx
See other pet owners put their dog in a doggy pack on their back and go hiking with their happily sitting with their head stocking out. "Jits in the Sunset" in an RV channel that carrier their dog. Hope Jess is okay. Know the feeling of slowing down. Love, Jane, Philadelphia
Jess is much better and she will still be able to make many of our walks. It is only the long trecks that she may struggle with.
As always, an absolute joy to watch. Looking forward to seeing more of your magical memory making moments. Big hugs, especially for Jess xx
It looks a perfect place to grow some veggies, and look forward to the next installment
Ooh can't wait to see the garden ❤
It is looking good David and we are almost as obsessed with birdwatching as you are with boat and train watching. We love it
So happy to hear that you’ve found a little canal-side plot. And in the beautiful north to boot! The missing piece has been found. Congratulations!
It's great to see you so happy. Looking forward to learning about your new project and more beautiful cruising.
So pleased for you both, can see the joy in your faces. Take care, so looking forward to the adventures to come. xx
Fran at 9. 29 you had a Nut Hatch on the feeder a rare sight
We are so lucky, we have a couple of them back and forth to the feeder all day long. It is such a lovely sight
Have fun guys relax and enjoy. Coming into winter here minus already overnight.
Congrats to you the pull of the land got to you both. But you have the best of both worlds now Fran was bursting just like she was when you were leaving the house in the begining of the channel years ago , well done getting a place out in the moors great area lots of walks and neat little villages to explore. look forward to your next vlogs Ed 40 S of Vegas
Thank you Ed. We always felt this would be the area do drop anchor in and we are looking forward to exploring
Home grown new potatoes to die for, happy days to you all .
Hi Fran, as far as the sunlight I loved it you just put dark curtains up in your bedroom. However, only getting about 3 hours of daylight in the winter can be a pain. You go to work in the dark and come home in the dark. By the time Christmas comes around you are definitely ready for winter to be over. We lived there for 15 year's and I loved it but because of my husbands heart problems we couldn't be in a better place than we are now because Utah has the best heart doctors in the country. I envy you two. I wish we could be on a narrow boat like you, unfortunately my husband's health hasn't been the best lately. He'll be 70 in August and I'll be 63. I think we would probably fall in just trying to get on the boat. Anyway I enjoy your videos. Thank you for responding to my message I really didn't expect you to even see it with all the messages you get. I have to make a confession I only started watching you about 3 weeks ago and I have been binge watching from your first video. You guys remind me of me and Alan. We've been married 38 years this October. We were also married before and we get along just like you guys. Thanks again Heidi
I'm not sure we could cope with such long hours of darkness, it must be a challenge. We read every single message we receive although unfortunately we cant write a reply to every one. It is lovely to know so many people get some pleasure from our videos.
I've been putting in plants this week and it's doing well so far. My onions are very popular with the resident squirrels. Happy gardening and happy cursing!
Gardening and wildlife can be a challenge. Good luck
So happy for you two and the dogs!
Awe, that shot of Jess curled up was the sweetest. I feel her, some days it’s nice to take it a little slow and lazy.
We so very happy for you both! So tickled that you can now grow all sorts of good things to eat.
Sorry to hear about Jess, perhaps a new soft, comfy, fluffy bed is in order for the old girl. I know it helped our aging pup in his last days.
As far as bikes go, there are solar powered/ pedal charging bikes now that have big wide tires that will help with hill climbing and field crossing. Believe me there are younger folks that use them and they're great.🚲🏍
Emily (Ben & Emily Narrow boat) calls the bow of their boat the 'potting shed', Alan their cat has to share the sunlight with seedlings. 😂
Again, we so very. very happy for you and the pups.
Take care and keep us all updated with the happening around the garden.
Sending many hugs and good thoughts your way ~ Lacy, Mike & Hamish 🐾🙌🏼🌻
PS. Perhaps a row of giant sunflowers along the fence to keep the cows from knocking the bird feeders.🐦🐄🐦
Fran, what have you been making lately & Rich would love to see your latest painting.🎨
Thank you Lacy. Jess has had some medication and seems quite a bit better now. I think she has enjoyed laying about in the sunshine while we do the gardening. I have still been weaving cowls, book marks and rug mugs and Rich is hoping to get back to his painting this week.
@@FloatingOurBoat Our pups love to be wherever we are. Please give Jess a cuddle from us. 🐾🙌🌻
I'm Irish, I've never been in Yorkshire, but something about what I've heard about it, and the people I've met from there, makes it appear like a magical place to me. Super to hear you finally got an 'anchor point' for your adventurising! Happy days, you two!
An anchor point is a perfect description for the way we feel about the mooring and you are so right about Yorkshire, the people are so friendly here.
be carefull, mint roots can go mad, some people sink a bucket into the soil,
Yes, we will plant them in pots
I was expecting you to have done what a lot of channels have done recently, go back to dry land. Glad you are not ‘giving up’ you have a huge reach that connects with people on so many levels. You are a corner staple of Canal life, love you guys. Phew! That thumbnail nearly got me🫣
Thank you so much. We are so happy that we can continue our boat life AND have a veg plot. It is all we wanted,
@@FloatingOurBoat beautiful
SO happy for you guys 👏🌟👍. What fun to come. Thanks 💐 joan
Super excited for you - and to follow along on this new adventure. I know you've been wanting to do this for a while! Can't wait to see the garden!
Happy to hear Jess is doing better:)
Try yumove for jess, it helps my spaniel marley no end.
Good luck with the gardening ❤
She has been on Yumove but without much success. The vet felt she needed something stronger which now seems to be working working.
Great video again! I think you may be incorrect like I was about electric bikes. First, about 80% of people that purchase ebikes are over the age of 50. I too thought that an electric bike was for the old or injured etc. I could not have been more wrong! For me it is an exercising machine! I go further distances, I don't care about the terrain, I use it to go shopping and for exercise and it is AMAZINGLY FUN!!! The fun factor is through the roof! The odometer states more than 1k miles and I've smiled during every single one of them!
It is the battery that allows all of these things to happen. At 60 years old I'm not guaranteed the same health when I return from a bike ride as when I left for it. The battery gives me the confidence to push my exercising, push my traditional comfort levels and explore more often knowing that the battery can get me home due to any injury, tired, or just being 60 years old. If you get an ebike you will; ride more often than a traditional bike. You will exercise without even realizing it as you are having so much fun. You will be far less car dependent. With the accessories that one can purchase you can easily carry wood, groceries, supplies, tools etc. I urge you both to look into the world of ebikes. I think your minds will change rather quickly. And, it is just so much fun!!!
That all sounds very sensible. Rich in particular has a lot of cycling experience but it is very hilly around here so we may reconsider. Thank you for taking the time to write this message.
Congratulations to both of you - fabulous news. Keep following your dream.
Big congrats on the new mooring! I hope this little change in your lifestyle brings you lots of joy and contentment!
So Jess can go along walking with you, get a little stroller and blankets to make her comfy. So happy for you both! I'm so excited to see your gardens and set up. The bird feeder is so nice and lovely birds.
Jess can still manage most of our walks and is now on medication which seems to be working. I don't think we could take a stroller up craggy hills
Get her a backpack, loads available for dogs now, then she can walk some, be carried some, she's only little 😂
well done! Can't wait to see what transpires! Crusing and gardening!!!
Glad you have found contentment and a new chapter. Now I know why you said that you will probably still be there when we come past later in the year. A beautiful part of the country.
So happy for you that you found a base in an area that you love. Sounds like the perfect arrangement for you. Looking forward to the garden tour! Hope Jess is feeling better.
She seems to be improving and has a spring in her step today, thank you.
If there's cows you can collect some fresh droppings for manure for garden.
There are also horse stables and a pile of horse manure...heaven☺
I think this sounds perfect for you. Thanks for letting us know and do keep us posted. Hugs to you... especially Jess. Leigh.
Sweet peas? Lots of colors, beautiful scent, had hummingbirds (and peas) till frost! So happy for you!
Very happy to see your latest update. You are on an excellent section of the L & L canal. We enjoyed this canal on our boat as well!
I'm so pleased for you, as others have said you look so contented. We've had farmers moorings on the Shroppie and just come back to another one after a bit of enforced marina time. (Look for Percy's blog) Nothing better, cheaper than a marina, a base plus you don't really have to demonstrate 'continuous cruising especially if its near to some of your favourite mooring spots. Friends on the next farmers mooring where we used to be have been helping the farmer with his lambing - something to think about for the future a bit of helping out on the farm ? Looking forward to how you make this home - take care and keep smiling ! - forgot to say you can add some solar to the shed roof, that what we do around here, makes a big difference.
Thank you Nev. It does seem perfect to us. This is a dairy farm mainly so I think we will leave the cows to him remembering our past experience, but we are loving watching their antics from across the fence. I think he also has some sheep so will look forward so lambing next year.
Good video
You have to live and enjoying your life wal you can live to the full
