Shocking how slow the progress has been with webcams. We're pushing a decade with no significant improvements. Market competition seems to be failing us in this area for some reason.
probably because you can use almost any camera including smartphones and dslr's as webcams

@@GrowingDownUnder I've been using my smarphone as a webcam for a while now and realising that it does 10x better than any webcam out there in the market. Only issue is that it's slightly bulky
@@drewl1990 my issue is battery life and needing a third party app to use it as a webcam. And then you have lag because it goes through a third party app. And you'd need a tripod for phone or some mount to hold the phone.

Good video. Also makes me realise it's worth getting a selfie ring or another type of lightsource for use with the webcam.

A very helpful review - thank you! Could you please advise which of the three: C920, C922, or C930e, would be best for teaching online? What is important for me is: 1. being able to have video in HD on Skype and Zoom. 2. Being able to record HD video for RUclips and Facebook, also going live on Facebook and RUclips. Or is there yet another (better) alternative to the 3 Logitech cameras (I don't want to spend too much as I'm only starting)? Very, very grateful for your help. Kind regards, Katherine.

Great video thanks Justin. I see this video getting a major revival now RUclips just released the new changes to YT live streaming yesterday! (March 20 2018). Not needing any extra software to go live on laptop/pc means I now want one of these Logitech’s instead of using my iPhone to go live 😊

We’ve only had the cameras up and running for a short time. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxOXxsTZ3ptV_Pk0fFl8bNZvVqeoqBQFwe So far we love them! I got the outdoor mounting kit for them and they were easy to install. Once you download the app, it walks you through the very easy set up. The clarity, and range is awesome. I am thinking seriously about adding another camera or two to my 3 camera system. The price is lower than a lot of comparable systems.

thank for the informative video I was thinking about getting the c920 but just found that the c922 is actually £10 cheaper than the c920 so I might as well get the newer version bought the c270 a couple of months ago although it isn't a bad webcam especially for being under £30 it just isn't that good for streaming and recording gameplay.

Quality video :) question- my laptop is old and so doesn't have an internal webcam and so when I connect it on windows 7, there isn't a 'imaging devices' option in device manager. Is this a problem or will it show up once I plug the camera in cause I don't want to have to buy it just to not be able to use it. (Sorry for lengthy question)😀
Thanks for all the details Justin this was very helpful in understanding how these two webcams work. I have both of them also but I'm sticking with the C920 and here's why. You mention auto focus and honestly one of the things I have on my checklist before I do a live video is to turn OFF auto-focus. I don't like using it and I wish there was a way to turn it off permanently 🤔
Next, I find that the lighting is only slightly better with the C922 but not at all missed or noticeable when I use the C920.
Question - you mentioned that the C922 has better resolution with Skype, but since I don't ever use Skype on my Mac, what are some of the other apps that you recommend using it with?

Personally I would use manual focus too, and also lock down all the other settings so nothing changed during recording or a call too 😀
The higher resolution on Skype is also with Google Hangouts too. I'm not sure about other apps like Facebook Messenger for video calls but for any other video recording that's not a 'call' the resolution is the same (Wirecast, OBS).

Hey Justin All the best for the new year, a question for lighting ........ when using lights to enhance the image if you are a person who wears glasses what is the best way to position the lighting or camera to stop the reflection being shown. This seems to be a problem even when you are using a green screen setup with other cameras or trying to front light the subject as you showed for the webcam shoot. Regards Russell

That's definitely a tough one.. Setting the lights up directly front on is probably the worst for reflections in glasses. Two lights (one off to each side) angled in at around a 45degree angle would be a good starting point.. but if the person is moving their head around alot when they talk then it will be very hard to eliminate all reflections. Brighter lights positioned further away (if possible) would also be another option.

my 920 has the newer Logi logo and came with cover. Bought for $70 US at Staples, only 1 at my local one.
Even if I'm french speaking, it was easy to understand... a bit fast by moments but the "pause button" can be used...! Interesting to see that there's not a lot of difference between the 2 models...! I do understand that these webcams works very well when using Skype, Zoom or other similar applications... but my great concern is...: if I want to do some video with singing and guitar playing... could I use these kind of webcams or do you have a better choice to suggest...? Thanks for the help...!

yep, two softbox lights. The quality on these cameras is pretty awesome, especially considering the cheap price :)
