  • Fresh from the scanner. If you are wondering about the tan tone to these photos, let me explain. In the process of making paper, the wood is pulped and then processed using powerful acids. These acids break down the wood fibers and bleach them. As the pulp is squeezed into paper, these acids are extracted and reused. Extracting or neutralizing all the acids is expensive. The cheaper paper, like news print, are higher in acid content. They will yellow with time and eventually fall apart. These grocery store magazines where never intended to last the test of time and were printed on higher acid papers. Maybe not the lowest grade of paper, but close. Therefore the sepia or yellow tint to these images.

As per usual, I just love the illustrations, I think the illustrations in the '60s have such a great vibe. And there are some very beautiful updos in this one. I like the little story about Agnetta, too. It was fun to see the whole process.
-Your joke did not go unnoticed by me....that was funny and it was a cute little 'easter egg' to find in the watching.

My great aunt was a know prude. That was my grandfather's comment on his sister-in-law's one and only child.
