Same, but regulations are mainly to blame. All the weight, engine/emissions restrictions etc. I can’t imagine what the next 60-80 years of cars that I’m going to live through will be like, and I don’t want to experience it.

Just bought an 02 steel grey metallic 3.0 w the m54 and 20 inch 4.8 wheels. Just put all new toyo tires at 3s all around. Great car the v8s gave them a bad name
This is a fantastic moment! I can’t believe that BMW never did this. Without question this is the if not the greatest but also the best line up of any car manufacturer. I wish BMW didn’t take the disappointing direction with the bangle body and also put so much technology and unnecessary gizmos in their cars these days.
Having owned 2 x E38s, 1 E46, 1 x E39 and a 4.4 X5 i appreciate the wheel and styling choices made here - all done to perfection. I loved each one and drove them as a daily driver. The amount of time I spent staring at the thermostat gauge is something I don't miss at all. Each one was special in it's own unique way though. Something i never felt from any other marque.

As an ex bmw technician, these really were the golden era, a perfect mix between technology and purity Also alpina do forged wheels for the e92 b3 gt3 which are around 3000 EUR each
That E46 M3 was a GREAT experience but by far the most surprising car was the plucky little Z3. That thing was one of the smoothest cars I've ever driven somehow and has me wanting to get on Autotempest and do some looking around 🤔
Bought a 2000 2.8 Z3 manual with 106K miles for $5.3K a year ago. Most overlooked budget sports car on the market. Sure, you need to put some work and $ into them, but 2-seater straight six with a limited slip, 5-speed super great driving experience. They're not fast, but they're fun.

Although I wouldn't consider it better than an M3 with 104hp per liter, individual throttle bodies, LSD, etc etc. The M3 is a much more enjoyable driving experience (IMO), but I really do love the look of those little Z3s.

This was epic, great marketing. I hope I could one day line up the 2012 Mercedes’ line up including one line up of all the amg models including the s63, e63 ,c63 and one line up including the regular vehicles as I believe that was a legendary time period for Mercedes’. All models looked high end while still being able to differentiate between models.
I totally agree I’d love to see him assemble a Mercedes dream team! Right now though, it would probably be easier financially to do a mid 2000s (2006?) dream team.

I was born in 1998 and since i can remember, the Z3 ist the most beautiful car ever made. So 2 month ago i bought one 2.8L Z3 first gen and i‘m in love. It‘s a perfekt car, no new car is like this. And the e46 is the most beautiful M3 ever made

Lets stop making cars that are built to fail. These cars were great but holy shit did BMW do us all dirty. Every plastic piece of trim turns to dust if you so much as look at it. Rubber that turns to play-doh. Engines that struggle to make it to 100k miles without serious maintenance. We're all supposed to do our part for the environment but yet companies are out here selling cars they know will only be on the road 15 years (if lucky) before they disintegrate/mechanically totaled. I drive a BMW product so I can't pretend like I don't understand the fanboys but man, we need some cars that aren't JUNK.
I actually owned several 2001 BMWs...and all I've been able to figure out since then is that they peaked that year. It's been downhill ever since (with ups and downs in-between), unfortunately.
My dream would be to never see another BMW on your channel again. No nameplate Thrills me less they just don't move the needle for me at all. My lexus came out in time for the 2001 model year, specifically to go up against this era of 3 series. There are many good ripple effects from this fleet, from the entire Lexus brand, to mercedes popularising the AMG models, to a variety of producers continuing to make rwd chassis. It's all inspired by competition with BMW
I'm not a big BMW fan and wasn't back on 2001, I thought that line-up of cars looked very staid and boring at the time (Z8 excepted). But seeing them now they really did nail it across the range. Makes you realise how ridiculous a lot of manufacturer's ranges are now, full of SUV's and crossovers. Very few have any real, tangible identity now or a USP to make them stand out.
Awesome that you put this together. Have owned multiple M3s and an X3 M sport over the years; love the brand. Envious of the person who bought the 740i. Have always wanted one of those. Before you could not justify maintenance due to low values, now they are getting too expensive to buy for nice examples.
Back in 2000/2001 I was in college and whenever I had time I would visit a BMW dealership and look at these masterpieces. It was like going to a museum.
At my University you could just go to the student parking lot to see the entire new BMW lineup, if you liked Volvo's the faculty parking lot was your spot.
I have now watched 7 minutes of the video, clocking in at 18 min is a bit short though for such a cool event. I hope there is a Part 2 coming. great work!
What a fantastic line up of BMW Automobiles, It's just a great distribution of cars, X5 going to be driven by Elliott, M3 by WatchJrGo, and Z8 by Bob, I was kind of hoping that Z8 might be driven by you afterall, because its kept by you. congratulations on a stupendous job, You Did it Tyler, amazing feat nonetheless to pull out.
As the original owner of a 2004 X5 3.0i, I feel it necessary to say that despite a few minor oil seals, front bushings, and the normal wear items, the X5 has been dead solid reliable and as fun to drive today with 85K miles on it as it was new. It’s still one of the best looking crossovers ever made and the X drive is phenomenal in inclement weather.
Proud owner of a X5 3.0i here as well. Couldn't have said it better, my heart is with Lexus but X5s with the M54 are not bad at all. Awesome doggie haulers.

The best era of BMW. I have owned the E38 740i sport, the E39 540i sport, and an E46 M3. All amazing cars.

Back in 2000/2001 I was in college and whenever I had time I would visit a BMW dealership and look at these masterpieces. It was like going to a museum.
At my University you could just go to the student parking lot to see the entire new BMW lineup, if you liked Volvo's the faculty parking lot was your spot.

As the original owner of a 2004 X5 3.0i, I feel it necessary to say that despite a few minor oil seals, front bushings, and the normal wear items, the X5 has been dead solid reliable and as fun to drive today with 85K miles on it as it was new. It’s still one of the best looking crossovers ever made and the X drive is phenomenal in inclement weather.
True, especially the 3.0i with the rare manual transmission. It feels surreal to drive a sporty manual SUV that's also practical and luxurious.
Proud owner of a X5 3.0i here as well. Couldn't have said it better, my heart is with Lexus but X5s with the M54 are not bad at all. Awesome doggie haulers.

When BMW was still the ultimate driving machine. Since I was 10 years old, to this day, the E46 M3 is still my favorite car of all time.
