You Sir are a bloody Godsend!! I was rebuilding my caliper by use of the Flyin Miata tutorial and was wrestling with getting the piston seal to get seated in the groove. Trashed two seals, sworn like a trooper for over an hour.. and then I found this. "Don't do it any other way because it won't work", you said. Damn straight it won't. Watched your video and I had the piston seal on in TWO MINUTES!! I cannot thank you enough!!!
My MX-5 is going to a new home on Monday - I don't have the room to restore it myself. This video was very helpful, as I had to deal with a seized caliper. It was informative, and the format/camera angles helped a lot, along with the narration.
@tom Richardson I'm sorry to hear you are having to let go of your 5 the UK suffers from lack of car storage and that sucks I'm glad you liked the video and I could help you 👍 what car are you getting next ??
Thanks. Helped me a lot. The same calipers as Ford Laser (re-badged Mazda) in AU. I used a Febest kit. I found the kit's new piston dust boots pretty flimsy & ended up cleaning the original ones & using them. Viewers, make sure you clean the handbrake shaft well around the dust boot seal area to ensure a good seal. On mine I found that on one of the calipers water had got in & caused a bit of rust inside which then led to the O ring on the geared/threaded shaft wearing excessively & allowing fluid to leak from the piston side back past the O ring.
@robin Vincent I sure do I'm still driving it everyday all though the next video on it will have to be doing the front crankshaft seal as it's starting to leak bad now 😅
