@@brianmachuca5074 Salvation in the Bible is NEVER works with faith. The apostle Paul insists that salvation is given to us only by grace. It is impossible for us to obtain a perfect righteousness by our own faith or our own good works. It is Christ’s faith and His works that count. This is why God gives us salvation by grace-as a gift.
“For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God: not of works lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8
Grace and works are exact opposites. Rewards come by the practice of works, but mercy comes by the application of grace. In the Bible, salvation is ALWAYS and exclusively by grace.

I'm going to simply say this for everyone. You don't do good works to be saved. You don't just assume you're saved in Faith naturally. If you love the Lord, as you change your heart and transform your life, you do good works because you are saved just like in the fifth commandment when you want to honor thy father and thy mother. And you're promised a long life and so forth. If you do well, God also promises people who do the good works because they're naturally saved. We'll also live life in a different way. So how repeat it? You don't do good works to be saved. You don't have Faith in a blind way. You naturally will do good works because you are saved not to be saved.
That's why we become new creatures in Christ. And have a new spirit, a new heart. Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. 19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that-and shudder.
20 You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless[a]? 21 Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. 23 And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,”[b] and he was called God’s friend. 24 You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.
25 In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? 26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

Solomon turned his HEART away from the Lord and built altars to other gods. Other OT characters like Saul murdered people and turned from God. Anyone seeking EVIDENCE of Solomon’s faith at that time would not have seen any evidence and would have labelled him unsaved. Solomon is the wisest man that ever lived and he is definitely in heaven, as is Saul.
Was Solomon saved when his HEART turned to other gods and when he built high places to them? Of course he was!
To argue that a saved believer cannot commit heinous sin is not supported by scripture. One has to misinterpret the text to form that false belief.
      1 Kings 11:4-10
For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives TURNED AWAY his HEART after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father.
5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.
6 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the Lord, and went not fully after the Lord, as did David his father.
7 Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.
8 And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.
9 And the Lord was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the Lord God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,
10 And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the Lord commanded.

I can tell you that its “Catholics” who don’t truly practice their faith who scare people away or make us look bad. The true Catholics don’t waste time arguing with those who don’t listen. Because there is so much going on & the word of God says so. Yes they follow the Bible. The complete bible without taking out or adding to & not cherry picking convenient parts. That’s why most rather leave, it’s hard to be a true Catholic because it’s supposed to be hard. The true church helps us to not lead u astray. All those questions u have about confession, saints, Marry, statues etc. Do have answers, you just haven’t searched enough nor in the right place. U still don’t believe? Think why this video says “Lawyer”. It’s to make the “Catholic” look worse. The rainbow flag on the pope, mixing his words, the vatican, etc. Why is Catholic the most attacked in the world? Why is Catholic the one they go to when u need a exorcism. Why do Catholics keep traditions left by our savior? Truly research entirely! Pray for wisdom. But it all starts with humbling yourself. Without that, u will not listen to learn. I know we’re not supposed to waste much time on those who don’t want to hear, but if ur still reading, I want u to know that I pray for u. I pray we can all be one again✝️

As a Catholic (who personally loves a lot of what Apologia does) this "Catholic" guy is well-intentioned but doesn't accurately represent Catholic beliefs.
    The Catholic Church teaches:
    - The books of the Bible are inspired by God, including the Epistles of Paul, Peter, James, etc. They're not just human opinions, but the inerrant word of God.
    - James and Paul do not each have a different soteriology. There is only one gospel message by which people are saved, and the whole of Scripture agrees.
    - No one can earn their salvation. The idea that we can earn our salvation is a heresy (Pelagianism) condemned by the Catholic Church. We are saved by grace.

Well, to be honest, I'm a little concerned when I see a word like "alone" being inserted into phrases, because it seems to dissected. I mean, if we're saved by grace alone, what about Jesus? He's not grace, but obviously we need him for salvation. Faith is also necessary, but that's different from grace as well, so because of that, strictly speaking we're not saved by grace alone. See what I mean? Not trying to be nitpicky, just explaining why I don't see it as cut and dry as "grace alone" even though I totally believe what the Catholic Church teaches: that we can't earn our salvation by our own good works, but it's an unmerited gift from God. In fact, the only way we can do good works is through God's grace given to us first.

Meaning, even if we are a "good person" we cannot enter into heaven because we are all sinners. Therefore, the only way we can get to heaven is by God granting repentance to us, therefore we say we are saved by His grace alone. Does that make sense?

@@jadato-the-o3565 You’re right, scripture is the word of God & we are only to worship Jesus Christ. That’s what Catholics have been preaching for over 2,000 years. Protestants however believe Martin Luther’s relatively new doctrine of “Bible Alone” and think it’s the only thing Jesus Christ left us & is to be interpreted independently.
This idea is not scriptural or anything remotely close to what early Christians believed. I suggest you study Early Christianity starting with the post-apostolic Christians and finishing with the Early Church Fathers & you’ll see the dilemma in protestantism.
The doctrine of “Bible alone” is a man-made doctrine created by Martin Luther, who interestingly enough was also Catholic & only wanted to fix a few things about the Church. The intent was never to create over 25,000 different denominations which began around 1500 AD. We see in the Bible, we were never meant to interpret scripture independently.
      2 Peter 1:20
“Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation of things."
When you study early Christianity & the Bible in it’s proper context, you’ll notice there was clearly a tradition that encompassed before scripture, & scripture arose from that tradition, also known as the “mass.”
      2 Thessalonians 2:15
“So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter.”

@@cooldude71120All respect and love from me, brother. Jesus wasn’t born over the law but under it. Part of the Old Testament law was keeping from consumption of blood, if you did this then you were ostracized from the community and condemned, even the apostles knew this. In order for Jesus to die for our salvation, pay the price for our sin, He would have had to be completely sinless. If He had consumed the blood of himself, He certainly would have broken the law and dirtied Himself with sin which makes His sacrifice empty.
Jesus was known for speaking in parables, metaphors, ways for us to understand because we had such a hard time grasping the prior revelations of God. We were evil. When He says to drink His blood and eat His flesh (bread and wine), He was speaking symbolically… “in remembrance of me”-as said by Jesus and cited later by Paul.
Jesus was not feeding apostles his physical nor spiritual blood, it was a metaphor for them to grasp the idea of the breaking of his body and spilling of his blood in order to cleanse them of their sin.
Do it in remembrance of Him, but it is not physically blood and flesh.
I love you, open to talk about it !
Doing something in remembrance is what makes it not so literal. If we do something in remembrance of someone, we are not reliving the events literally but figuratively to honor them.

For example, we slap out sibling in the face, we ask God for forgiveness and God forgives us, we still owe some restitution to the person we wounded. That really is an important part of reconciliation to God to try to atone for our sins. Jesus is not doing everything for you, you must participate in your own justification. I was raised Roman Catholic. We had two prominently displayed paintings in our living room my entire youth. One was of Jesus and the other of Mary. Both were the kind with "the sacred heart." As you entered our home (which was an apartment above my Dad's Diner) there was a holy water receptacle that was filled with water brought from our parish church. I was one of five children, and we all attended our church's Catholic School. I was the youngest and made my First Communion, attended Catechism and was Confirmed like my brothers and sisters.

In 1972, on my 17th birthday I joined the Air Force. The day we left for basic training; everyone was given a package from the Red Cross at the induction center. It contained a toothbrush, shaving kit, writing materials and envelopes, and a pocket size Gideon's New Testament. Of course, it had the Plan of Salvation on the inside cover. This small gift over time led me to faith in Christ. The biblical truth that salvation was a free gift of God's grace, through simple childlike faith, apart from rituals, sacraments, and good works was earth shattering to me.

The Catholic Church had us all hooked on the "one true church" myth, but the Holy Spirit used the Word of God to reveal the truth to me. I understand how difficult it is for Catholics to get past the lies used to keep people in bondage, because I had to deal with it myself. But the Word of God can break down any barrier, if people would just read the New Testament for themselves.

Church. I did not know how to pray - other than to say rote prayers - like The Hail mary, or the our Father or the Apostles Creed. My prayer as I started reading the Bible was "Lord, if you are real - show me" He did, and my life has never been the same. I love what you said about the Word of God can break down any barrier. Scripture is ALIVE and as I prayed and sought the Lord with all of my heart, mind and soul - He met me where I was and brought beauty from the ashes of my life.

So what was your family's excuse and yours for not reading Scripture
The Church forcefully and specifically exhorts all the Christian faithful . . . to learn the surpassing knowledge of Jesus Christ, by frequent reading of the divine Scriptures. Ignorance of the Scriptures is ignorance of Christ. Catechism Of the Catholic Church (CCC 133)www.scborromeo.org/ccc/para/
Pope St. Gregory I (died 604 AD) “The Emperor of heaven, the Lord of men and of angels, has sent you His epistles for your life’s advantage-and yet you neglect to read them eagerly. Study them, I beg you, and meditate daily on the words of your Creator. Learn the heart of God in the words of God, that you may sigh more eagerly for things eternal, that your soul may be kindled with greater longings for heavenly joys.”
Pope Clement XI (1700 - 1720) To forbid Christians to read Sacred Scripture, especially the Gospels, is to forbid the use of light to the sons of light, and to cause them to suffer a kind of excommunication.
Pope Pius VI (April 1st 1778 AD) “the faithful should be excited to the reading of the Holy Scriptures: for these are the most abundant sources which ought to be left open to every one, to draw from them purity of morals and of doctrine”
Pope Pius VII (1800 - 1823) "encourage their people to read the Holy Scriptures ; for nothing can be more useful, more consoling, and more animating, because they serve to confirm the faith, to support the hope, and to influence the charity of the true Christian."
Pope Leo XIII (1893) “The solicitude of the apostolic office naturally urges and even compels us…to desire that this grand source of Catholic revelation (the Bible) should be made safely and abundantly accessible to the flock of Jesus Christ”
Pope Pius X (1903 - 1914) “Nothing would please us more than to see our beloved children form the habit of reading the Gospels - not merely from time to time, but every day.”
Pope Benedict XV (1914 - 1922) “Our one desire for all the Church’s children is that, being saturated with the Bible, they may arrive at the all-surpassing knowledge of Jesus Christ”
Pope Pius XII (1943) “... This author of salvation, Christ, will men more fully know, more ardently love and more faithfully imitate in proportion as they are more assiduously urged to know and meditate the Sacred Letters, especially the New Testament ...”
Pope John Paul II (1979) “catechesis must be impregnated and penetrated by the thought, the spirit and the outlook of the Bible and the Gospels through assiduous contact with the texts themselves”
Pope Benedict XVI (2006) “I urge you to become familiar with the Bible, and to have it at hand so that it can be your compass pointing out the road to follow. By reading it, you will learn to know Christ.”
Pope Francis (2015) “The Bible is not meant to be placed on a shelf, but to be in your hands, to read often - every day, both on your own and together with others”
Gee, good thing you don’t like condescending emails, right? Anyway, I am not rebuking God’s Word, I am rebuking man’s word and, in particular, I am rebuking your word. Your fallible, man-made, non-authoritative, biased and bigoted word.
You speak of the “laughable infallible teachings of the [M]agisterium,” yet you tend to also speak as if you yourself are infallible. Do you believe your private interpretations of Scripture to indeed be infallible? And, if not, will you then admit that your private, fallible interpretations of Scripture, in regard to Purgatory and other such Catholic teachings, could be wrong? You won’t admit that, though, will you? You know why? Pride, Freddy boy...pride. You are too proud to admit that you could be wrong. That your interpretations are indeed fallible and, therefore, prone to error.
I find it less than honest that Mr. pinhead mentions particular quotes from paragraphs of the Catechism without giving any context for those quotes, and does his best to twist the meanings of those quotes.
He is one of these former Catholics who knows "everything" there is to know about the Catholic Church and its teachings and who feels a special call to save Catholics from the darkness of Romanism that he was, at long last, able to escape from.

I think the point that should be made is both faith and works (not works exclusively) - i.e. rejecting hypergrace theology. Not mutually exclusive - I think Pastor Durbin did a great job defending the Catholic side. They could do the same with Orthodoxy too, as both condemn Protestant theology as heretical. As a former devoted catholic, I used to attend the mass 5 times a week, pray the rosary daily, was a leader of a Catholic group/movement on my campus, and was visiting the seminary to become a priest!
I once was questioned, If I am to die at this moment, where would I open my eyes afterwards. Although I was a devoted catholic, I didn't have an answer, the person questioning me, opened the Bible at first John chapter 5, and as he read I was amazed. The passage actually speaks about a true believer in Jesus, whom has earned assurance of gaining eternal life in heaven, through Christ.
It also says that if that believer doesn't acknowledge this assurance - eternal life in heaven - he is explicitly implying that God is a liar!
After this encounter, I decided to study my bible daily, although I was a Catholic who reads his bible(which is very rare here in my country). After a year of studying my Bible i saw how much the Catholic church is far from the Bible.
If you are a Catholic reading this I would suggest you search the following topics:
    -The authority of scripture
-Justification and salvation: this is one of the most important topics, how am I to be reconciled with God according to the Bible!? What must I do to be saved!?
-The mass and transubstantiation (Emphasis on Hebrews 10,the "lost" book in Catholicism)
-The role of saints in The Bible
-The role of virgin Mary in The Bible
    -Purgatory and the Bible
-The pope :Is he biblical, is he even in the first church!?
-The first church and the history of the Catholic church, did it really start with Jesus or with Constantine centuries later paving the way and with Gregory the first being the first "pope" (590A.D)
-The apocryphal books, why did they first show up in mid 15th century?
-Baptism, Is it for the babies?? , does it have to do anything with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit!?
-The sacred mysteries/sacraments and the Bible: why in a time of history they were 12 and 9 and 5 and now they stand at 7? Is the sacred mystery of confession biblical!?
"The LORD is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth." Psalms 145:18
God bless you all! MUCH LOVE!

you make me laugh you fell for the lie of E-Z faith, one without someone telling you what to do, a self-authorized version of the NT Church. where the individual assumes the title of Apostle, Prophet, Pastor, Teacher, Exorcist and Vicar of Christ along with being the infallible interpreter of the Holy Scriptures with a direct line to heaven guided by the Holy Spirit. He took the bait and now he's hooked on a "non denomination church" as he calls it. It has no name. He was told that he needs a relationship, not a religion, ""Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him. As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats me will live because of me."
Let Jesus answer you In John, chapter 6, Jesus had not only called the 12 Apostles, there was also much larger group of other disciples. Things seemed to be going pretty well. That is until Jesus said “For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.” This was too much for many of his disciples and “From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.” Jesus turns to the 12 and asks, “Will ye also go away? Simon Peter gives the same answer that I find myself saying to those who tell me I should leave the Catholic Church for this reason or that one, “Lord, to whom shall we go?”
If I weren't Catholic, I'd look for the Church that the world despises, for the world despised Jesus, and he would be there. - Fulton Sheen

Vs 56, Jesus said, "He that eats My flesh and drinks My blood dwells in Me, and I in him."
Did He say, 'He that eats a symbol of My flesh...'. How can a mere symbol fulfill this promise?
Does only a symbol of Christ dwell in us? I thought GOD Himself dwelt within us, 1John 4:12-13.
Vs 59, This verse shows that Jesus taught this discourse to all the people.
Vs 60, They doubt a third time when many disciples said, "This is a hard saying, who can hear it"?
The Jews were instilled by many Old Testament verses, admonishing them not to consume blood.
See Deut 12:23, Lev 17:11and 14. They must have thought this was something akin to cannibalism.
Is this what you think too?
At any point did Jesus back down? Explain to me, if this chapter is symbolic, why did He not explain the symbolism to them?
Vs 61, Jesus did not back down, for He said, "Does this offend you?"
He knew their thoughts and He certainly knew the Old Testament verses about the consumption of blood.
In the next verse, He separated spiritual things from earthly things.
Vs 63*, Jesus said, "It is the spirit that quickens; the flesh profits nothing. The words I speak to you, they are spirit, and they are life."
Did He say He was speaking figuratively or in parables? This is the second verse detractors use to try to "prove" that Jesus spoke figuratively for the whole chapter. Did Jesus say "My" flesh? No, He said "the" flesh. What Jesus had said was, that we cannot accept this mystery if we accept it in too human a way, by having an earthly view of things. Those who can only think of cannibalism, are they not having an earthly view?
See John 3:6, "That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit." Verse 63 means that we should not have a carnal human understanding of His words, but a spiritual understanding.
In John, chapter 6, Jesus had not only called the 12 Apostles, there was also much larger group of other disciples. Things seemed to be going pretty well. That is until Jesus said “For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. Simon Peter gives the same answer that I find myself saying to those who tell me I should leave the Catholic Church for this reason or that one, “Lord, to whom shall we go?” No matter what a certain priest does, no matter what scandals hit the church, despite whatever corruption or abuse of power might exist, and despite whatever mistakes the Church has made throughout history, “to whom shall we go?” for here is the body and blood of Christ given for a sinner as miserable as I.

Faith without works is dead doesn’t mean if you need faith you should do works. It means if you don’t show your works, you need more faith. Works come from faith, not faith from works. Jesus said he is the vine and unless you abide in him it is impossible to produce fruit (works)
So James was not saying you need to make more fruit to earn more grace (water of life). The fruits blossom from the water of life. If no fruit is presence then you’re missing grace.
A dead tree can not grow fruits from its will in order to be watered. A dead tree needs water and life so it can produce fruit.

I have a lot of respect for Pastor Jeff Durbin as an amazing street preacher. I do though disagree with him on his notion that works have nothing to do with our salvation. His associate cited Titus 3:5, which states "He (God) saved us not because of works done by us", which is true but only refers to the point at which we were first saved. Then from that point we must " work out our salvation with fear and trembling" (Phillipians 2-12-13). Why, because there will come the final judgement where the Lord Jesus will be sitting on his throne and the sheep will be separated from the goats according their works (Mathew 25:34-46).and those that did the "will of my father in heaven" (Mathew 7:21) will enter the Kingdom of Heaven and those that refused to do the fathers will will go into the " eternal lake of fire prepared for the devil and his angels" (Mathew 25:34-46). What could be more clearer than works play a pivotal part in our salvation?.I have great admiration for Pastor Jeff Durbin that he adopted a son as I was also adopted and because he is so patient and all the good work he does with his ministry. I just wish he would stop telling people that works have nothing to do with our salvation , when the Bible says it does.

But i gotta say, once u stopped being atheist and seeking out all the religious claims across the world, it honestly baffles me why there are any Hindus and protestants in the world. Those seem the 2 most obvious write-offs. Then i started finding out slowly there is a whole culture of anti-catholicism that is present in protestantism. @@CornerstoneMinistry316 Whaaaaat???? They do not teach you that Mary is "just as important." You wanna talk about lying, let's start there. People revere and honor Mary because, as Jesus' mother, she is the most holy human to ever walk this earth and she is capable of interceding for us. Have you never prayed for someone or asked someone to pray for you? Catholics ask Mary, because she is closest to her son. As far as the Pope goes, he is just a leader of the Church. In the Bible, Jesus appoints Peter as the first Pope of his Church. If you trace the history of Christianity, you will find the Catholic Church and the Popes trace back to Peter. Jesus said, "Upon this rock I build my Church." Protestants rejected that and built their own. That's why there are over 100 denominations of Protestant churches.

This Catholic wasn’t able to articulate the Catholic faith very well. As a Catholic we do believe the Bible is inerrant. But we believe there was also a tradition that was passed down that supports the Bible (not in a contradictory or correctional way).
At the beginning of every mass we recite the apostles creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
    creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
    born of the Virgin Mary,
    suffered under Pontius Pilate,
    was crucified, died, and was buried;
    he descended to the dead.
    On the third day he rose again;
    he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
    the holy catholic Church,
    the communion of saints,
    the forgiveness of sins,
    the resurrection of the body,
    and the life everlasting.
    Amen.

The entirety of James refers its seems to behavior. It is a quite striking epistle that tells us how to act in faith.
It seems as though there is a temptation to make the scripture subject to dialectic tension between seeming metaphysical contradictions. Pastor Jeff challenged this man asking him if James contradicts Peter. The Bible does not contradict itself. So to ask that question is to really throw out the baby with the batch water.
I asked 3 questions in my OP. Do you have answers for them?

@@deanodebo To your other two questons:
      2. There is still controversy today whether he wanted to exclude it or not, but there is no controversy about his hostility toward it.
3.Yes, he did. But it was not in James. It was in Romans 3. And I sure as heck don't condone it, either. There was no need to add it. Scripture speaks for itself.
In my opinion and many a Bible scholar, you're not seeing what James was saying. When biblical hermeneutics is applied, it IS faith alone that redeems us. Paul makes this clear in his letter to the Ephesians Chapter 2. If it is faith and works, then it is earned and not a gift freely given by God. Our works are a result of our faith. Even Jesus said, when asked by His disciples, how would we know our brothers and sisters in Him from those that are not, "YOU will know THEM by their fruits." That's the gist of James' letter.
      James 2
      Faith and Works
14 What use is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone says he has faith, but he has no works? Can that faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? 17 In the same way, faith also, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.
18 But someone may well say, “You have faith and I have works; show ME your faith without the works, and I will show YOU my faith by my works.” 19 You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder. 20 But are you willing to acknowledge, you foolish person, that faith without works is useless? 21 Was our father Abraham not justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? 22 YOU SEE that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected; 23 and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “And Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called a friend of God. 24 YOU SEE that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. 25 In the same way, was Rahab the prostitute not justified by works also when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? 26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.
God already sees the hearts of men, an ability man cannot see. Therefor, the works are an external witness of our faith before man, not God. Like a wedding ring is an external sign for all to see one is married. Sheep don't go baah-baah to become or remain sheep, they bleat because they ARE sheep. Likewise, as Christians, if we are truly Christians, our works are a result of our faith because we ARE His children, not to become or remain. Now, you may say, "Yes, but we can walk away from those works and reject His salvation. No, you can't. Again, if one is really a "slave" to Christ. The Holy Spirit will hound that person to submission. "Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world." I know, I've been there. He was brutal on me. Lesson learned, but still being sanctified daily.
I'm an ex-Catholic, I know what they teach. After reading scripture and seeking sources outside the RCC, including the ancient languages, I see where Luther and the Reformers were right. That was 40 years ago. Now, I don't belong to any of the Reformation era churches, they have real problems in their communion of their own). I consider myself a simple Evangelical Christian. Holding fast, yes, to the Apostles and Nicene Creeds of old. None of this "progressive" Christianity (known to be called by us orthodox, small o, Christians) being taught today.
"This is my story and I'm sticking to it."
