Not only does this "cowboy" remove bolts unnecessarily, he also removes the push in studs that hold the cover on the wrong way. The studs are in two parts like construction anchors. If you just pull on them you run the risk of snapping them because they are just plastic. Better to pry the top part up with a screw driver and the stud will come right out.
You don't need to remove the taillight assembly, just the bulbs. INSTRUCTIONS: paulstravelpictures.com/2012-2015-Honda-Civic-Tail-Light-Bulbs-Replacement-Guide/index.html
No no no!! I followed your lengthy directions only to find out all you have to do is twist the light socket to the left 1/3 turn and replace the bulb. NO need to remove any bols and take off the entire assembly!
No need to open the bolts at the back. You should apologize to everyone to mislead and tell them the wrong way.
this guy goes above and beyonds >___< might as well take the whole trunk off also hahaha
It's actually 0 bolts if you're just replacing bulbs.
that's what I was thinking hahaha!
Except the fact that you CAN'T get to the brakelight one without some fancy set of pliers or something.
Umm why remove the entire assembly?

Glad to see your trunk is just a mess as mine
Yeah you don’t have to take any bolts off to change the bulb itself in the 2012 civic. I just did it no problem
