Great job, Morgan. I test rode one a few weeks back and was impressed. The Low Rider ST or the Road King Special are calling my name. Never thought I'd say it, but a Harley-Davidson is in my future.

@@jackchristodoulou197 Mind sharing your thought process? At 6’6”, the RKS is definitely the more comfortable choice. ST would be a bit more lively in the twisties, but honestly, there are better bikes than H-D should that be the aim. I’m coming from a KTM 1290 Super Adventure R, so either bike will be a big change in riding style.

At 2 minutes 18 seconds you perfectly described the original road glide at 735 lb. As a 59-year-old rider I don't want a 900 lb Harley I want a 730 lb Harley with all the stuff my old one has the lowrider St looks like a fine bike it should have GPS and a stereo

I agree!....I currently have a road glide with the tour trunk and at my age now, I find it is getting a bit too heavy at 900 lbs.
The low rider ST would be a great choice with the lighter weight, but would love for it to have the infotainment system.

With loud pipes, loud cities and EV cars people like quiet. 1980-90’s boom boxes are so old school. Just like loud radios in cars, obnoxious. Cardo and Senna make make music, nav, and passengers/friend communication so easy. Plus electronics date the bike. I like the road king, minimalistic with no radios to date bike. Always classic

I agree with your disagreement about infotainment! The whole reason I want a full fairing is to keep the wind down and get a good sound system so I can enjoy my music on those long rides. I am an Indian challenger owner and would strongly consider trading in for this bike if it had comparable infotainment and sound system.

I agree with you on the infotainment system. I currently ride a '14 Ultra Classic, and am considering the Low Rider ST as a replacement, but would really like more info up front. An in-between system might be the answer. Better instrument display and a bit of connectivity, might push me over the other side of the fence.
As a 5'7" rider, the low seat and 200lb lighter weight, is very appealing.

As always, great, objective review, Morgan. Cool bike, for sure; although given the price, if I were in the market for a touring bike (even if only occasionally), I'd opt for a bagger (RKS, as others have noted). Yes, the 117 is all the rage, but the difference between it and the 114 is so friggin' minuscule, I'd rather spend the extra moola and have the touring frame and the RDRS. You can't get the RDRS on any Softail, and I'd rather spend the money on a safety feature than add $1K for the stereo on the Lowrider ST.

Sa a European Person: The full size display is not wanted,. it is looking obsolete. a small iPhone horizontally mounted is my navigation, music station with headset. I think HD is right not installing a full size infotainment. Also, I have a Sport Glide and this fairing is a must have. I have a 107 and the power is enough. And I have to get this fairing mounted. Sport Glide comes with forward control, and replace the pegs with hex boards is a huge plus. Dealer told me already the parts for the fairing will be about 3000 Euro. Plus adoption of the steering header mount. If you have no HD and you are new to HD and have some riding experience, this is the bike for you. Much more agile than the heavy touring bikes. You can really blast and spend long time on the bike.

Just another sign of how clueless Harley has become. As boomers age out of motorcycles they keep building for us. Sure, a guy my age might not want infotainment but, like me, he may not even be able to ride anymore. Just like in every other case, children are the future. Pull your head out of your Boomer mindset and build bikes for people who think of the Vietnam war the way I think of WWI. People who don’t want to spend their free time tinkering, fixing the weak springs, fixing this and upgrading that like owning a Harley has always been. Like the guy said when I bought my Roadgilde, this is just the starting point, make it your own. Which I proceeded to do and yes, I loved that bike. This bike is half way, just finish the job and build a bike for a young person who doesn’t (always) have grease under their fingernails but still wants that undefinable Harley magic.

I felt really really disconnected. Suspension was the best I've felt for any Harley going over bumps...at the expense of handling It felt so mushy with no road feel. Throttle was smooth, but there was some drive line lag so kinda disconnected with super long shift action needed to change gears. Brakes..were okay..but long push to get he back brake to do anything.... Styling was good. Overall the sum was less than the parts. A surprising miss in my book.

your seating positon looks ridiculous, uncomfortable with knees pointing to the sky, the original fxrt had better seating and passenger also, with footpegs, music came with the bike, sissy bar, safety bars as well as highway pegs, better hard bags, larger fairing, and full instruments, .. they tried harder then for the customer, now they want u to buy the bike, with next to nothing on it,then spend a pile of money outfitting it with what should be standard equipment, and then some, .. Harley is just making so many bad design choices. The fairing is great and retro... they they destroy the look with those HORRIBLE asymmetrical bags. They aren't "eh", they are butt ugly. I personally know 3 people that loved the pictures, went to check them out (one ordered one and went to pick it up) and all three said "no way" when they saw it. The bags turned all three off. One is still considering getting one but changing the exhaust and bags immediately. Its one thing to customize your bike and it's another to feel you need to because you hate so.wthing about the bike. It's buying a bike with a 2-3k higher price tag to start NO ONE likes the asymmetrical bags. I mean NO ONE.
BTW in general I never watch your reviews because they are always just an exercise in ass kissing of advertisers.
