8:13 I just finished a 4,000 mile trip on the Low Rider ST. Took it down Skyline Dr, the Shenandoah, Blue Ridge Parkway, and through Deals Gap. I'm 6'1", equipped it with audio and the 10" windshield. It is 110% a touring machine and, in locations like the ones I just mentioned, is highly preferable over a touring chassis motorcycle. To your point regarding luggage, I used a Saddlemen S3500 bag and that was plenty of room for a week+ of riding. Without question, the biggest drawback I've found after that many miles is the handlebar configuration. I have to constantly reach for them, and I have long arms. I notice you reaching for them in your video as well. While it's not uncomfortable for short stints, after hours of riding and hundreds of miles, it becomes very noticeable and uncomfortable. It strains the back and shoulders significantly. Risers/bars will be the next mod to my bike.
No matter what bike I ride (even my own Dyna that has pullbacks) I will always be reaching for the handlebars. 😂 Thanks for the input on your personal vehicle! Looks like you know where to modify it for your liking if you intended to tour often! 😊
What makes it highly preferable over a touring chassis? I went from the smallest ie Sportster to a Road Glide Special. It can run the corners just as well as my Sportster did. Harley has many different models for different purposes. Modern day touring from the MOCO cost about 30k before upgrades my 15 was 21k. Most people don’t have that much expendable income. This bike isn’t a tourer its a commuter ie one level above bar hopper. You can tour on a Sportster with aftermarket shocks, bags. Doable yes, comfortable hell no. That’s personal experience 😂
@K Heck I just bought one. But I have a Streetglide ST also for touring. I'll see if this can make the haul before I get rid of the Streetglide. But it is far from a bar hopper.😊

Thanks for the great review! I definitely think the two different size bags are weird but understand the issue with the exhaust. I would hope there would be a matching option if a shorter exhaust was fitted. On the other hand, I've never ridden a harley but the Roadglide ST has my eyes from the ST models. However, the Low Rider ST looks way more flickable for the twisties....guess I need to win the 1 billion dollar mega millions so I can just buy both as well as a Pan Am. LOL!
A slightly taller riser to get you a bit more upright and a taller windshield and some pipe and you’d be pretty set, otherwise the stock bar/riser shape looks good. That’s my thoughts on it. With so many riders with music in their helmets, it’s worth cheapening out in audio on the bike and just getting it setup for the long and fast miles we all like to put down(what I would do). 117ci with an aftermarket cam is a lot of reliable motor for essentially an off the shelf bike… It’s bike like this(vs a street/road glide) that make me glad I’m short, more money in my pocket for a well rounded bike. I actually really like this bike, just like older Harley stuff more. With the scene being the way it is today, it’s best if Harley gets on with making those lower fairings to add because if they don’t someone else will be.
I really like the sleek looks of the fairing and the smaller scale of the bags. I can see wear it could be limiting on a longer trip. Perhaps a slight windshield edge forward curl would help with air flow like a batwing.
Great video. Honestly if the FXLRST had been even remotely available by any stretch of the imagination I might have gotten one and stuck with it but nope. Good luck finding one
Keep your eyes out. A lot of people put deposits down on them then back out. That’s how I got mine. Went into the dealership to order something for my streetbob and walked out with the LRST and had absolutely no intentions of buying one.
I would have to agree that this bike looks like Harley had you in mind when they built it. If possible would you add extra aftermarket speakers to make the music louder or just skip the factory option all together ? But IMO your Sporty is so much cooler looking I am sure it's not as comfortable but cooler all the same . 💯✌🤟🤘
Haha thank you! Love the sporty, for sure!! It just depends what options come out in the future but as of right now, I personally (probably) wouldn’t purchase the audio kit because I wouldn’t be able to hear it with most of the riding I do.
You can get almost all of the qualities of the ST's with the bags, inverted forks, and a few mods with a used 2018-2021 Sport Glide, for a lot less money. Get the 56mm rear shock, and the fairing of your choice, a good seat and 4 to 6" risers. You can find many of these low mileage at a significant discount, if you don't want to pay the HD tax for new. I've always wondered what big discounts content creators get from HD headquarters, when buying,
H-D Corporate barely gives their real employees discounts on motorcycles. I go to the dealership (which are all franchises with dealer licenses) and haggle for my bike just like everyone else does lol
hello from france , its a great review and the only one who answer the question i have about this bike . it could be the next one after my lrs 114 that i love too . thank you (and sorry for my french write... 😄
Yep! Most had deposits on them long before they even arrived at the dealerships. Here’s to hoping production for 2023 is increased for all of us wanting to purchase one 💪😊
Dawg, you looked sick AF carving on this bike! I've been waiting for your review on this! Top tier quality as always. I've been thinking of trading my 16 low rider s for one of these.
I have had two Harley Davidson bikes in my day which was a 96 motor full dresser and a current 2017 M8 street glide. My over the road bike is my Honda Gold wing because it’s liquid cooled and maintenance is nothing more than a single hole oil change for everything like a car. My street glide M8 is a still a hot air cooled pushrod engine that’s overly labor intensive but it’s American and has Harley Davidson on the tank. HD needs to move to full liquid cooling, ride modes and full counter balancing or I am upgrading to a new Honda Gold Wing up from my 2006 Honda Goldwing because HD maintenance is ridiculous.
Great honest review for someone who has 30 inch legs like me lol, Staci in my opinion those gold locks would look awesome on a Goldwing where you could soar like an eagle 🦅 👍💯
Great open minded review Staci. That bike does fit you like a glove however, for what you do I think the Road Glide will ultimately be a better choice. Yes you will need to do some mods but, your comfort level and storage capacity will be worth the extra coin. 👍👍👍
Thanks Mike! As I mentioned, I dont "need" the comfort of a road glide at my current age and health. Although it would be a great "want" for me if I wanted to go all out. But overall I just enjoy being able to throw a nimble softail around far more than a big ol touring bike. (And secretly I have ADV fever and probably will go for a dirt-centric bike next lol)
@@ridetofood lol. I agree. It is nice having a flickable bike. I forget that my touring bike is flickable for me but it’s not a Ninja. Being a bit old I like to be able to pack too much yet still get it all on the bike. Hahahahaha.
As usual, another great bike review. The thing I really like is you gave your impressions of the bike from your perspective, personally how it fit you. There are always going to be more than enough one size fits all bike reviews, really appreciate how you made it a bit more personal. Oh, and how much pie can it carry?
I have to say that I love the Low Rider ST, though I haven't gotten to put many miles on it, I still fit the bike far better than a touring chassis. It might be my next bike, or I might go earlier dyna with an fxrt fairing. Haven't decided yet.
I’d go softail if budget wasn’t an issue! I’m ready to not worry about the Dyna wobble once and for all 🤪😂💪 but glad you dig the FXLRST, too! I think it’s a pretty rad bike as well.
I have a Triumph Bobber which is great for around town. I need a sissybar to be able to do trips or been thinking about a trike but we will see. Hope to meet you sometime I am in Oregon so if you get up this way let us know.
Nice review! The “big” Harley touring bikes are kinda cramped for me so no way would I fit on the ST. I can see where it would be great for someone a bit smaller though. Harley needs to offer some better paint choices on a sporty bike like that. Black or grey isn’t much of a choice… I personally think your current Dyna is a much better looking bike!
I don’t have real usage stats on that, so I didn’t include them since we only rode about 120 miles and I wasn’t responsible for fueling. I never trust what the manufacturer fuel range specs are whether it’s a car or bike haha!
solid review. I'm yet to ride a Harley in any fashion. just switched from a larger sport touring bike down to a lighter, smaller ADV bike. is there still hope for me to like harley?
I ride a 2015 RGS stock everything except the hammock seat. At six foot one 280 I wish the seat height was 4-5 inches higher. More suspension height more comfort. For me nothing about this new bike outshines the tourer. Not being able to control all my electronics with thumb switches is a deal breaker. Unfortunately the new RGS cost about 10k more if you can even find one than my 15 new. This just reminds me of all the money I wasted on previous Harleys trying to make it into a bagger. I think the MOCO should focus on comfort before new releases. This reminds me of the previous DYNA sport tourer ie Switchback which was a complete flop but better looking.
Great video! What gloves are you wearing in the video that allow your 1st finger and thumb to be exposed? I've been looking for ones that do that but can only find fingerless.
@@ridetofood Wow, that's cool! I have a Rokform too & I thought I knew the magnet on it was strong but I guess I didn't realize just how strong. I also have the magnetic sport ring and I think that's even stronger than the phone case. Just have to be careful around my laptop. I put it too close a couple times and it started scrambling the apps that were running. Take care and Thx 🙂
So forgive. I payed close attention to the video and enjoyed. Just wanted to clarify, I myself is 5’4 in height. We’re you able to flat foot the LR ST ?
If I remember correctly, both balls of my feet were on the ground. I’m not sure if I fully got both feet fully planted or not, but if I didn’t they were very very close. It was not intimidating at all in my opinion, since I’m used to my Dyna being taller 😊 hope this helps!
The external speakers are pretty awesome, but listening to an audiobook or podcast in traffic can get embarrassing. 😂 As for the asymmetrical bags, it wasn’t until I saw one in the showroom, that I even realized they weren’t matched. In other words, it really doesn’t seem like a big deal.
I ride a 12 street glide I have really enjoyed it when it comes time I will just rebuild the motor got set up just like I like live in montana travel around with it alot got 31000 on her take care
I did not know there was a 6,000 dollar difference between the two. You could make the necessary changes to the St to fit you and still have some coin leftover.
Did the fairing give you a lot more wind protection than your Dyna's windshield? I am your size but with shorter legs (29: inseam). I find that my legs touch all of the hot parts when flat-footed. I'm disappointed that Harley raised the height over the previous iteration of the low rider. Did you find it hard to back up in difficult situations?
No the stock windshield is significantly shorter it really isn’t a fair comparison as they’re also very different windshields as a whole. Im not flat footed on most bikes so I’ve learned to not put myself I situations I can’t get myself out of.
For around town, definitely! Long hauls will require a bit of comfort accessories, though. Mostly for the passenger if I had to guess. (I don’t usually ride as a passenger so it’s hard to give accurate insight on that part) If you’re mostly riding around town or less than 250 miles a day together I think you’ll be fine :)
My opinion.. if you have the money… get the ultra limited for touring..cross country.. get the lowrider st for shorter tours.. and a badass street Bob for quick and dirty trips around town…. But if you don’t have the money for all that… the lowrider st is a good ,,, it does all that..bike. Kinda…. You can do cross country on the lowrider st…. As it’s far superior to other Softails as far as comfort.. the heritage is the only other Softail that is similar
I'm 5'5" and I tend to have issues flat footing most "bigger" Harley-Davidsons because the seat width is so wide. How does the width of the seat compare to the dyna?
Complicated question with a complicated answer, but I’ll do my best! Your actual height doesn’t determine if you can flat foot a bike. It’s all about your inseam and lower appendage specs from a bodily standpoint. From the vehicle, that’s also complicated because each Dyna is going to have a different OEM seat offering with different widths and thicknesses, in addition to the frames of the bike being different widths and heights and whatnot. My Lepera Kickflip is much more narrow but my personal bike is taller than this stock FXLRST because I’ve customized it to be that way. I also don’t need to be flat footed to be confident on a bike while other require that (which is ok!). You’ll have to throw a leg over one and see what you’d need to make a specific bike fit you properly. 😊
@@ridetofood thank you. It is a difficult question. I have a 29 inch inseam. Most stock road glide or street glide seats are so wide for me but a stock heritage isn't bad. I can not find a dealership who can keep a Lowrider ST in stock long enough for me to try it out.
@ridetofood good to know, I'm on a 30" big wheel bike that I've owned since 4mi old (bone stock then) but will usually do 300-400mi a day on it but I'm just looking for something a bit sportier. I'll probably get one of these and have a fun daily ripper
If they plan to, they won't legally tell anyone until they make the initial announcement on their own. There are aftermarket companies already making them, though!

I loved the review. When the time comes this will definitely be the next bike for me.
LOL!
Saaaaaaaaame! 😂 ADV fever is real
Sounds like ya got it all figured out! 😎
I really like the sleek looks of the fairing and the smaller scale of the bags. I can see wear it could be limiting on a longer trip. Perhaps a slight windshield edge forward curl would help with air flow like a batwing.
Definitely! Klockworks has a few options in production already. I bet they work well!
Great video. Honestly if the FXLRST had been even remotely available by any stretch of the imagination I might have gotten one and stuck with it but nope. Good luck finding one
They’ll be available next year, and the year after that! 😎
@@ridetofood I'm sure you're right. Patience is so hard though 😄
Truth lol!!
Keep your eyes out. A lot of people put deposits down on them then back out. That’s how I got mine. Went into the dealership to order something for my streetbob and walked out with the LRST and had absolutely no intentions of buying one.
@@Jeffharmon81 yeah that makes sense.
I've always wondered what big discounts content creators get from HD headquarters, when buying,
Harley doesn’t even give content creators discounts 🤣 they barely even give their actual employees discounts
H-D Corporate barely gives their real employees discounts on motorcycles. I go to the dealership (which are all franchises with dealer licenses) and haggle for my bike just like everyone else does lol
Truly excellent review. Fair, detailed, objective.
Another great video! Keep up the good work. Always look forward to your new video's.
hello from france , its a great review and the only one who answer the question i have about this bike . it could be the next one after my lrs 114 that i love too . thank you (and sorry for my french write... 😄
Best review of this motorcycle. So very well done.
Thanks, Hank! :)
We've been shopping for one. Not a single one left on the dealer floors..looks like we will have to wait for Winter
Mines a 15 FXDL so I feel you! The new softail are so badass. Definitely an upgrade!
People are already putting advanblack king and chopped tour packs on these and they look great and give you a ton more room.
Indeed they are. Options are great to have for all styles of luggage!
Glad you’ve found what works best for you! 😊
My buddy just bought one and absolutely loves it!
Rad!! Everyone I know (lol like 4 people) that own them, loooove em!!
Yep! That bike is hard to beat!
Wow great review of the bike thank u very much
Great honest review for someone who has 30 inch legs like me lol, Staci in my opinion those gold locks would look awesome on a Goldwing where you could soar like an eagle 🦅 👍💯
Haha I’d ride the heck outta a wing!
Hahahahaha.
WOW..what a fantastic review...Outstanding work.
Thank you :)
As usual, another great bike review. The thing I really like is you gave your impressions of the bike from your perspective, personally how it fit you. There are always going to be more than enough one size fits all bike reviews, really appreciate how you made it a bit more personal. Oh, and how much pie can it carry?
Ohhhh sounds like I need to do another test ride 🥧🍰🥧🍰🥧😂
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
It lost me at two different sized bags, my OCD can't do it. Good review!
Totally understandable lol! Thank you!
I’ve only been through Oregon once, and it was back in 2016! Maybe one day I’ll get back that direction! 😊
I think this is a nice short distance ride . Love the review
🤙🤙🤙
Good luck and congratulations if you get it
Fingers crossed!
Your bike !!! Hands down ☝️stay awesome and safe
This will definitely be my second bike!
I'm anxious to ride this bike at bbb here in a couple of weeks.
It’s a fun one! Still considering it to be the next bike I purchase
@@ridetofood it's going to be a toss up between this bike and the indian challenger.
Why thank ya! As far as paint goes - I bet they come out with other options in the future. 😊
@@ridetofood Think LRST El Diablo Limited edition 1 of 1500, world wide.
Two thumbs on the review. Did I miss the mileage range on this bike -from full tank to near empty?
I don’t have real usage stats on that, so I didn’t include them since we only rode about 120 miles and I wasn’t responsible for fueling. I never trust what the manufacturer fuel range specs are whether it’s a car or bike haha!
Great video! Thanks! I really like your jacket. What jacket is that? Thanks!
Check the video review I published right before this one :)
@@ridetofood k thanks😀
solid review. I'm yet to ride a Harley in any fashion. just switched from a larger sport touring bike down to a lighter, smaller ADV bike. is there still hope for me to like harley?
Maybe! Stoked to hear you just got yourself an ADV!!! I've got the fever, real bad. hahahaa
@@ridetofood it's fun. I need to use it a bit more off-road.
Great review Staci!
I’d have to agree with Harley, you were a great choice, good job.
Thanks Tim! I don't believe HD or Myself ever stated that, though! lol
@@ridetofood they gave you the bike to review right?
I am by no means in the market for a new bike, but I’d reallyyyy love to ride one of these! Lol! Great video!!
You’re gonna love it!!!
Glad you found a bike that works well for you!
Great review! Thanks.
Thanks for the info on the bike.
Great video! What gloves are you wearing in the video that allow your 1st finger and thumb to be exposed? I've been looking for ones that do that but can only find fingerless.
Odin MFGs. I really like ‘em!
@@ridetofood sweet, thanks so much!
Great video keep up the good work
Thanks for the review. Was your phone sticking to the tank while riding with just a magnetic case?
It was! I use a Rokform case :)
Oh wow! lol
So forgive. I payed close attention to the video and enjoyed. Just wanted to clarify, I myself is 5’4 in height. We’re you able to flat foot the
LR ST ?
If I remember correctly, both balls of my feet were on the ground. I’m not sure if I fully got both feet fully planted or not, but if I didn’t they were very very close. It was not intimidating at all in my opinion, since I’m used to my Dyna being taller 😊 hope this helps!
Thanks. Nice review.
The external speakers are pretty awesome, but listening to an audiobook or podcast in traffic can get embarrassing. 😂
As for the asymmetrical bags, it wasn’t until I saw one in the showroom, that I even realized they weren’t matched. In other words, it really doesn’t seem like a big deal.
So what you're saying is... you don't want people to know you listen to Harry Potter audio books?! 😂
@@ridetofood Shhhh! It takes away from the big burly biker persona! 😂
lowerback problems ORTHOPOD saved me great video's
glad that worked for ya!
The st is nice bike great review on it it fits you really well you look like you enjoyed it take care keep the rubber side down
Thank you! It was a really fun bike! Definitely would consider purchasing one when it’s time to buy a new cruiser!
Absolutely!
Yeah, I rode ST during Ohio’s Bike Week and fell in love. You should buy it and then sell me your Dyna. Lol
Lol! 😎
Very nice video good review
Great review Staci! What's next? 🤘
We’re headed to Wyoming on the Dyna!! And then a 5,000 mile PanAm adventure. I’m posting out of chronological order at the moment lol
@@ridetofood Sounds awesome cant wait!!
Do you think it will be good for 2up riding ? We m looking to switch over to a Harley or an Indian next year.
For around town, definitely! Long hauls will require a bit of comfort accessories, though. Mostly for the passenger if I had to guess. (I don’t usually ride as a passenger so it’s hard to give accurate insight on that part)
If you’re mostly riding around town or less than 250 miles a day together I think you’ll be fine :)
To control audio.. get a Samsung Galaxy active tab 3 mount and a handlebar controller
Great choice for androiders!
What exaust system you running on the dyna? Thanks!
ridetofood.com/staci-wilts-2015-harley-davidson-dyna-lowrider/ has every question about my Dyna you could probably ever ask, answered. 😊
You look like a perfect fit for that bike
My opinion.. if you have the money… get the ultra limited for touring..cross country.. get the lowrider st for shorter tours.. and a badass street Bob for quick and dirty trips around town…. But if you don’t have the money for all that… the lowrider st is a good ,,, it does all that..bike. Kinda…. You can do cross country on the lowrider st…. As it’s far superior to other Softails as far as comfort.. the heritage is the only other Softail that is similar
Thanks for watching!
Just did Sturgis with it.. caught great footage too
Nice!!
Great review !
Thanks, Arthur!
I’m wondering if you’ve reviewed the Heritage?
I never did. I didn’t have the bike long enough outside of my road trip to sit and review it on camera. However, I really do love it!!!
a nice dyna. great video.
What does a bike like this normally sell for? Personally, I really like the looks and engine size!
The FXLRST MSRP starts at $21,749 for 2022 models 😊
Your Lowrider is much nicer and the Road Glide special is also better for touring. Nevertheless a very nice bike the ST.
Greetings from Germany
Glad you know what works for you!
Nice review.
I'll stick with my GSA for long trips and my Softail for short rides.
Great options to have 🤝
Really want one of these, but i HATE the uneven bags.
Yup, got rid of em on mine. There’s solutions 🤙
@ridetofood good to know, I'm on a 30" big wheel bike that I've owned since 4mi old (bone stock then) but will usually do 300-400mi a day on it but I'm just looking for something a bit sportier. I'll probably get one of these and have a fun daily ripper
Do you know if they are making a tour pack option?
If they plan to, they won't legally tell anyone until they make the initial announcement on their own. There are aftermarket companies already making them, though!
How do you mount your phone on the tank like that?? Magnet case?
I use a Rokform case + custom dash mount these days!
kewl vid as always... cheers
New river gorge bridge! I live 5 mins from here
woo!
Have u ridden the new Heritage 2018 or newer
Yep it’s in my grits and glory video!
