just order my frst humidor here in Netherland and thanks to yours instruction i know, now, how to properly do it!
Ik heb gister mijn eerste humidor besteld, een zwarte van Cohiba. Hoe verging het prepareren en bevalt hij nog goed?
most helpful humidor seasoning instructions I saw -- thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome
Are there any good humidors you’d recommend for someone who can’t afford one that’s $100 or over I was hoping to find a good one in the $20-$40 price range.
I ordered a small glass humidor, anything special we have to do with those besides what was shown for where the water is dripped onto?
Safest bet is to just get a Boveda pack of your preferred humidity and that will take care of all of your humidification
I just bought a savoy medium glass top humidor. How can I remove the built in analog hygrometer without damaging the seal?
It’s safer to leave it as it is, you don’t want to create any leaks. You could just add a digital hygrometer on the inside of your humidor
Could you help please. I have had a humidor for about 15 years but the last 7 or 8 I haven't smoked. Trying to get it back up & running to put some cigars in... I have some Humidity beads, just don't know how often to refill them to keep the cigars in decent condition.
I think the cigars themselves have dried out (bands have come loose) but they still smell decent & there's no mould I can see. Do I need to get the humidor set up again, add them back in (currently in a tupperware box with some beads) to bring them back? I've never smoked a 'proper' cigar from a shop so don't know what it should feel like..
Yes, you need to season your humidor as shown in this video. If your cigars have been dried out for years they've more than likely lost a majority of their intended flavor, but once your humidor is seasoned you can put them back in after a day or two and leave them alone for a few weeks before you try them. Smoking a premium cigar is all about the flavor and experience and it's all down to personal taste!
I’m seasoning my humidor, and followed the steps in the video. After roughly 24 hours, the hygrometer is reading roughly 85%. After the 3-5 days, should I expect to see this number go down? Or did I do something wrong?
Appreciate the help, love the content 👍
Ideally, you want your hygrometer to read 75% to 80%. This is a little higher than you want for your cigars, however, your cigars will draw in a lot of the excess initial moisture once placed inside
So what actually happens if we don't do this? I got mine and I just threw my cigarsbin there with the 69% humidity pack
The dry wood will soak up all the moisture in ur cigars and leave them dry and tasting like wood.
I just got a savoy with an analog hygrometer does the salt water make it more acurate?
The salt water trick is for calibrating a hygrometer
Should I take the cigars out of the plastic cigar cover and place it inside the humidor or should I just keep them in the plastic 🤔?
Should you leave cigars in their cellophane?

When I’m calibrating my hygrometer I can’t reach the 75% humidity and I’ve had it in the zip lock bag for 2 days now, I’m at 72% humidity, is that okay or should I do something to bring it up to 75?
Is your hygrometer analog or digital?
@@holtscigars it’s a digital xikar hygrometer
You should be fine it may just be the temperature of the environment or room keeping the humidity at 73%. Just keep an eye on your levels in your humidor 👍
@@holtscigars thank you very much for the help!
Ones is ready do we take out cigar out of the plastic wrap or put them in with the wrap ?

Can I use de-ionised water instead?
De-ionised is not as pure as distilled, which we recommend using.
@@holtscigars right I understand. I made my own distilled water and I think it's working out. Going to give it another day and check on the humidity level which has the pack inside the box
