    Great video Kirby. I only want to add one detail though. The 60% boveda are good for about 25 cigars and a 320 should technically be good for about a 100. I use a 320 gram and to 60s for a 150 count. But it really is that easy.

    Kirby ol' sport, You didn't mention the desktop humidors typically have a number that they hold. The real holding number should be 10-20% less and the Boveda packs can be in contact with the cigars. In the desktop humidor do you prefer to keep the cellophane on the cigars or remove it?

    • @a1d3nh0
      @a1d3nh0 5 месяцев назад +1

      If you’re storing cigars long term, removing the cellophane is advised. It helps them breathe and age properly. Short term, up to a few months, the cellophane is no problem.

    • @Jdrakester
      @Jdrakester 4 месяца назад

      According to Davidoff, who say they are absolutely pro-cellophane, keeping it on (even for long term storage) is recommended. Cellophane is porous and therefore can breathe humidity in and out, and it also helps with the longevity of the aroma/oil concentration.
      Don’t take it from me! I’d recommend the following purely for the enjoyment itself, but look up the Davidoff tour documentary by Bespoke Unit called “From Seed to Smoke”. It’s a fantastic watch - towards the end of the process (1:29:30 in the video) they speak to all the reasons why they justify the use of cellophane.

      @@Jdrakester According to Holt Cigar Co and Fuente, one can leave it on or off. I got that from Mazz Holts' COO. I was asking Kirby why he didn't mention it. He also didn't say anything about the need to rotate cigars in a desktop humidor.

    • @Goblinkatie
      @Goblinkatie 3 месяца назад

      There was recently a window of a few years that they could be purchased legally. The ban was lifted years ago during Obama’s administration allowing personal imports up to a certain amount and commercial imports for wide distribution. Trump reinstated the ban after he took office.

      Temperature can vary more than humidity. 60-73ish degrees will be fine. Anything over 75 and beetles and mold are much more likely to be an issue. I would say it's more important to keep the Temperature consistent. I keep mine at 64-66 degrees

    For anyone who has ever ordered a Box of Cigars online and opened the box to discover they are dangerously dry and you don't have a Humidor...
    Here's a quick trick to Humidify them back to life safely and quickly without damaging them by creating your own Boveda Pack.
    Take some toilet paper, not too much you want to fold only enough sheets to make it about 1mm thick. and maybe 2 sheets wide.
    Soak the toilet paper in water, then smash it flat till it's damp, and not at all dripping. (Again, you want it to be "damp" not wet.)
    take a grocery bag, and cut enough of it to cover the top of your cigars in the box.
    Use a knife to cut holes in the bag that you made into a sheet.
    Place it on top of the cigars in the box, then place the damp toilet paper on top of the grocery bag sheet, and shut the box for about 10 hours.
    If you ordered a Box of 20 or more, rotate the Cigars from Top to Bottom after the first 10 hours to humidify the Sticks in the bottom of the box.
    This will bring your Cigars back to life quickly, will leave zero odor or taste on you Cigars, and I do this with every dry box of Cigars I get in the Mail.
    I would not recommend doing this to a Humidor however, they will require a Boveda Pack as they will Maintain the Humidity for Much Much longer periods of Time.
    This trick is only for short term emergencies or if you dont have a large Humidor. The Good news however is that each Cigar Box is technically a Humidor, which is why this trick works.
