      I think I do have good soil! Some parts are sandy but ive added compost in those areas and it helps. Thanks for continuing to watch!

      I would not bother the hydrangea. It looks great, 😍 IMO. I'd move the heuchera. You have plenty of empty space for that. The hydrangea balances the house on that corner. Take another look. 😉

    Hi Jes I see me in you many years ago when I first became intersted in gardening, glad to see you dumping your weeds and spent flowers in an area that it will help keep weeds down and maybe some of the flowers could start growing back there could surprise yourself. Your doing an awesome job. One more piece of advise, flip flops are the worst thing an avid gardner like yourself to wear while gardening. My sister and I always only wore flip flops all the time for more than 30 years or more and we both now suffer with arthritis in around our ankle bones and instep of side of foot. Ortho docs say it is because of not having support on the foot while gardening because the foot slips sometimes and it effects the ankle and foot bones and in the last 6 moths we both have been dealing with lymphadema in our ankles and foot which is very if at all to be rid of. Just wanted to tell you this for your years later in life. Love watching and so nice to see a young adult love the lord so much and be seriously involved with your church youth group. Love the songs you write you can tell they come from the heart and not mean like a certain someone TS. thank you for your videos and songs.

      Oh my im so sorry that happened to you! You are right, probly shouldn't wear flip flops, maybe one of these days ill give in. I just hate wearing socks and shoes, we have such a long winter here and i cant wait to put on flip flops. My grandma had arthritis too so I know it runs in the family. Thanks so much for the concern thats really nice of you. And thank you so much for all the encouragement!!

    I cut some salvia back today & some White Wands Veronica.. the bumble bee 🐝 was not happy with me & I did that maintenance at 0730 when I got out of work. It’s cloudy here today in Michigan and I’m praying for some rain. How many hours of sun ☀️ does your “dumping ground” garden get Jes? That might have something to do with the phlox and bees balm not doing so great. & thank you for the explanation on your hydrangea “cutting”. Really appreciate that. 😊♥️

      Oh fun! Yes we need rain bad don't we!? I hear there's a storm coming in tonight (july 4th). The bee balm and phlox get like...7 hour of sun but its on a weird hill and idk I just haven't been able to grow many things there that actually do well besides the Siberian iris and I just planted those last year LOL. If you have a suggestion let me know :)

    Hi there, just found your channel looking for weigela content. I purchased 3, have nit arrived yet but they are beautiful. Yours look like the are in part sun/part shade. Am I right and does this work? The area I bought them for I think is sun/shade but I read they do best in full sun, so I'm planning on putting them on the opposite side I got them for. Any advise would be nice! Thank you

    Love this video. Struggling with growth and pruning on some wiegelas! What type of tree do you have planted near your “random plant garden”? The tree blowing in the wind around 10:15 in the video? Looking for something for my front yard that stays relatively smaller but doesn’t get messy with blooms

    I came here to learn how to pune weigela (as per the title), and that’s that part that was speeded up with no details or tips! But I found where she stores her lawn bags.

    Hi Jes. I have two Tuxedo Weigelas. Maybe that’s what I’m doing wrong. I normally prune them late Winter or early Spring before they start setting their new buds but they never look full. I’m very confused with these. I got them 2 years ago.

    • @jesthesinginggardener
      @jesthesinginggardener  Год назад

      OH yes you want to prune them right after they bloom because that's when they start setting the buds for the following year. If you prune in the fall or spring then you will most likely trim off the buds that have been setting since the last bloom.

    Do the weigila lose their leaves in winter.

    • @jesthesinginggardener
      @jesthesinginggardener  2 года назад

      Yes they do. They are considered deciduous so they drop leaves

    I thought with poppies should let them go to seed and that's how you get blooms every year they have to reseed

    • @jesthesinginggardener
      @jesthesinginggardener  2 года назад

      Hmm im not sure! I always cut mine back and they bloom just fine the following year, but maybe they would bloom more if i let them go LOL
