- I was gifted a Durango and Silverton N Scale train set and found that while it was dcc friendly it wasn't drop in decoder ready. Luckily it wasn't a horrible install and I was able to do it in a few hours and I'm glad I took the time to get it equipped as it is a decent little engine. It can be a little picky when it comes to electrical pick up but it's been running good for me.

Nice ,glad you got it squared away, cool little steamer
Yeah I'm glad it worked out. Need to run it more often.
Great install! Much better than my adventure with an N-scale steam decoder. It was a Bachman consolidated that ended up in the dumpster as I recall!
Yeah it was a slight test of patience. Waited until I had a day I knew nothing was going on to do the install so I wouldn't get distracted lol
I’ve never tried any kind of decoder install other than a simple drop in replacement.
This looked pretty complex.
Why did you have to remove the wheels?
Some of the sides went into the metal chasis and I had to remove them to get the motor out to get the motor wires soldered on. I really didn't want to but couldn't avoid it in this instance.
Where can I get the Loco Schematic you are using? What is the correct DCC Decoder for that Loco? Links?
The schematic came with the set I'm not sure if there is one out there for it. As for the decoder I used a digitrax DZ123 for it. I dont think there is a "correct" decoder for it just whatever fits.
@@Caboose121 Why don't you take a sharp photo with your phone and post a link to download it, that would be cool, I have the Loco and tender but No Schmatic.
