Check out the link to his site! Excellent lessons with clear, well presented material. Extensive but easy to understand explanations with high-quality reference materials, good diagrams of concepts, etc. I was IMMEDIATELY happy with my purchase and think that this program will be perfect for anyone who has a decent level of music experience but is ready to level-up with their music theory AND playing skills. I firmly believe that knowledge and understanding are the best ways to improve accessory things like speed and technique... Get this guy in your life, and you'll learn. Simple as that. Thanks so much for what you've created!
Wow, thanks so much for sharing this Aaron!! Put a big smile on my face 🙂 I’m glad to hear you’re loving the site man 🙌 Please don’t forget to leave a review on your purchase when you’re ready to!! 😄
Thank you so much for this top notch breakdown of Mateus! It is super challenging to figure his licks out. Seriously killer job, man! keep the content coming!
There’s a lot of variables. I use BIAS FX, with no pedals. It’s basically a Vox AC30 with some reverb and delay. I don’t tinker with pedals these days, but I would recommend developing your time with a good amp rather than relying on pedals to do the trick
Hey mate!!! The second way you pronounced the name is almost correct. The google translator has a good pronunciation in portuguese. It's hard to try to describe the way to speak, isn't it. You are doing a great job!!! Greetings from Brazil!!👏👏👏👏
Thank you so much for the lessons. it's really useful for me to learn improvisation. Hope to see more improvisation lessons bro.. already subscribed your channel :D
Actually I think the both ways you said is correct... Because you not from the artist's country. Like when you say "João" (exactly like it sounds) in English, when the usual (in English) would be John. So Mateus would be Matthew. The second way you said sound more like Brazilian Portuguese and the first way sound like people around you would speak. Cheers from Brazil! Excellent video bro!!!
I was watching your other video about your guitar earlier (which is sick by the way, and in some odd way I respect you for having one guitar that you've stuck with for so long) but I just had this random idea. You should pick out like 4 or 5 guitars that you would love to have and let your fans vote on which one you should get. And at 25k subs you get it and do a new guitar reveal lol. Just a thought, but I think it would be something cool to get your subs involved and to get more subs in the process which you greatly deserve! Plus the sub increase would likely pay for your new guitar in a couple months (but that's just a guess really).
Thanks for sharing your idea! 😄 Unfortunately subs don’t pay bills (or for new guitars) unless you’re in the 100k+ caliber, but I do look forward to owning a new guitar someday! For now, maybe we can cast a vote on which pick I should buy 😂😂
Hey Darryl. This is a really great package of teaching, so thanks for that. One thing though, I feel like I'm going crazy. Lick 6 looks to me like Mateus is playing something in the A minor positions, but you've taught it as fitting in with that D flat minor key. Look where he ends the first part of that lick though - he's on the C note of the A string, but the way you've showed it is him ending on the B note. Am I wrong?
Please make a tutorial of The Breakup Song video Mateus Asato posted recently! There are tabs online, but it’s to fast and technical for me - I need your style of explanation!
What specifically, are you using, in terms of your single coil DiMarzio pickups? I have a hunch, but would like confirmation, one way or the other. Excellent playing, by the way. Straight up eargasmic
@@DarrylSyms Right on. Thought that was you. You sold me on getting a cruiser neck, a year or so ago I think. Anyway, then some dude from DiMarzio told me, he thought with my particular setup (strat style Jackson H/S/S, with a Duncan Nazgul humbucker) that I'd really dig a cruiser neck, in mid position & a chopper in the neck. Got it, along with all new pots, switch, jack, etc.. Just need to make time to switch it all. The Nazgul & Cruiser have been installed since I 1st got it.
Just discovered Mateus and then YOUR great tutorial on his style (from Tim Pierce jam). Could you tell me what's their chord progression - i can't seem to figure it out. Thanks.
Darryl Syms thanks Daryl, hey i looked at your patreon page I simply don't have the money to sponsor you monthly but if there was a way I could purchase the tabs off of you maybe threw PayPal I would do that. did you tune down a half step for this or did you do it in standard tuning
I have few questions here. Seems like the example 8,9 and some others ... I wonder what are those speedy phase called? How to create those melodies? Are those some kind of scale related to the chord? Thanks a lot :)
Nope, I just have an awesome setup. I do have Locking tuners too which probably contribute to it, but even before I had them my guitar always stays in tune
Hi Darryl, how do I identify chord tones (like you said ‘a nice interval, this is 11th of the Db Minor) i mean how do you know thats 11th? is it through scale, just the same like how you know which is 3rd 5th 7th in the scale? and if its through scale, what scale do you use in Db Minor, or say if the chord is Amin7, is it the same scale can be used here like A minor scale..?
I could write a novel answering your questions, but all of this and more can be answered extensively through my website: courses.darrylsyms.com 🙂 However, in simple terms, intervals are based off of the major scale. That doesn’t necessarily mean that we’ll use the major scale, it’s just that’s how music theory works. Everything is derived from the major scale. In the key of Db (natural) minor I would use the natural minor scale (Aeolian). Amin7, also the natural minor scale. It can depend though. There are many minor scales! Generally natural minor is a safe bet though if you’re not sure what to do. I hope that somewhat helps?
Darryl Syms yes, it helps a lot, i never knew that Aeolian is natural minor scale..i get the idea now though not the whole picture, but i think i get what you mean..and yes i will sure check out your website, thanks Darryl!

So cool.
Mateus Asato just thanks is all I have for words. Look how we all have inspired by your master piece,,/
Awesome stuff! 🙏🏼
It's Mateus
Thanks for the enlightenment...
(facepalm)
second way you said in the video was correct
Thanks for showing us how it's pronounced
Lamaw momint
I'm brazillian and the correct pronunciation is: "Ma (mæ -> uk accent) + teé (like fianceé) + oo (like understood) + s"
Nothing replaces clever and tasteful phrasing. Obviously Mateus has worked hard to develop musical ideas that compliment the chord progressions well.
Thank you so much for this top notch breakdown of Mateus! It is super challenging to figure his licks out. Seriously killer job, man! keep the content coming!
Thanks man! ✌️
Beautiful Job Darryl! If you keep putting videos of this quality out, this channel will sky-rocket.
Thanks Steve! I'm doing my best! 🙂
Ma-tay-us (Mah, soft “t” + a, uhs)
That’s how I pronounce it. I’m Mexican-Portuguese for reference :P
This is one of the best lessons I've seen in over 10 years. Great job.
Wow, thanks! 😁
You are a beast. Thanks for all the dedication you are putting on this. We really appreciate.
Thanks for your support Adrian! 🙌
Great stuff, when I turn the slow example down to half speed I can almost figure it out!
I love that major 7 note in example 4
That tone is incredible
Thanks Jac! 🙌
@@DarrylSyms My pleasure! Do you know what pedals would get me in that range for that slight overdrive but clear sound?
There’s a lot of variables. I use BIAS FX, with no pedals. It’s basically a Vox AC30 with some reverb and delay. I don’t tinker with pedals these days, but I would recommend developing your time with a good amp rather than relying on pedals to do the trick
I actually do use a boost before the amp, on BIAS FX, that’s all 😉
@@DarrylSyms Yeah man been spending tons of time with my hotrod and I'm getting a closer tone, but just want the clarity he has. Thanks man :)
Love the way you explain those licks! Thanks for the sharing and beautiful tones 🙌🏼

Beautiful
yes you are
Hi Darryl! You do wonderful lessons, thank you. Tell me, what is your height of strings above the neck?
