This was my first Duke Nukem game and i absolutely loved this game, the concept of Duke going back in time was always a cool way to keep the game in a constant state of variation and action fun.

I still play this game on my PS3 once every few years. My dad was a savage sweetheart and bought me this game when I was 5 years old lol. Shockingly besides the strip club, there wasn't anything that waw innapropriate or scared me. The 'gore' was so pixelatedvit was almost comical. The guns, holy hell. I was obsessed with finding ALL the secrets and upgrade all the guns. This is my Duke Nukem Forever.

This was my introduction to Duke Nuke Em. I was much more a console guy. It was fun, funny, and the graphics were great. The strip club changes, the jokes, the interactions with objects. Great stuff. I'd LOVE an updated version of this game. PS1 was one of the best consoles of all time. Good stuff.

Thanks for reminding me that this game exists, I have faint memories of playing it for a while as a kid, then I saw it months ago when I was heavily invested into the mouse injector app since it was one of the first few games added to it. I thought "hey I need to play this" and forgot all about it but your review has convinced me that I definitely need to play it now. Also thanks for featuring the mouse injector, I feel not many people know about it and it's a shame, glad to see it gaining popularity since it's great and it can rejuvenate these kinds of games and actually make them playable for PC gamers or anyone who doesn't want to deal with old janky archaic controls.

My favorite Duke Nukem Spin off game was Duke Nukem: Zero Hour. Which in my opinion, it was peak Duke, next to Manhattan Project. The western levels were more expanded and Victorian era, as well as the post apocalypse. Time to kill for me, was a mixed bag. Zero Hour did the ‘Duke Through Time’ better. Not to mention the secret levels. Zero Hour had these eras: Modern Day, Post Apocalypse, Wild West, Victorian Era, and Paradox Future. Great video though.

I slowly warmed up to the game at the time. It was a huge step down from 3d. But there's a lot of charm and good ideas. My feelings have changed over time though.
But what I'd forgotten until I played it again recently was all the jank. Some parts require you to do weirdly specific things to progress (some of which isn't immediately obvious). The combat is functional at best. At worse the auto aim will point to the wrong thing every shot and at the enemy in between shots without either of you moving. But what's worse is the movement. It's like driving a tank. And you have to go through a checklist before you do anything. Is my gun out? Do I need to jump then grab or just grab? Am exactly where I need to be standing and facing the exact correct position? Etc.
What's worse is there are some parts that require pixel perfect movement when the game doesn't give you pixel perfect control.
I also don't get why some of the aliens were changed. But that's not a negative. Honestly I'd love a proper remake to iron out those rough edges and let now people experience the great moments the game did have (and there were admittedly a lot).

It was the late 90's and we didn't care. 🤷‍♂️
Back then games used to be about having fun. We didn't have to bother trying to make ourselves feel better about overpaying for mediocre, formulaic games full of bugs, by focusing on minute, irrelevant details like how fast bodies disappear, and the ray tracing lighting effects on the ground textures.
In fact, we didn't even notice that stuff at all, because not everything had to have super realistic graphics. It was just a *fun* _game_ , not to be taken too seriously.
We were literally to busy playing the awesome split screen multiplayer mode, with its large selection of fun, vaired weapons, still unmatched in gaming to this day.

HARD disagree. This game is terribly designed. The artwork and presentation is nice, but that's about all it has going for it. People complain about the controls but they're fine once you spend 15 seconds getting used to them... the problem is everything else about it is half-assed, the level design, the enemy placement the shooting itself... it's like someone wanted to mix Duke 3D with Tomb Raider without actually understanding what made either of those games fun to play.
Also level one is a sewer level... that really says all you need to know 🤷‍♂️
    5/10 game AT BEST
