Duke Nukem Advance was made by people, who really understood the limitations of the handheld, not only in terms of performance, but also in things like controls or display (which was too dark). And the simplified level geometry made it much easier to navigate on the small handheld screen. The game gets significantly better after the first two episodes. The city levels are great.

I'm very-well experienced with Duke Nukem: Time to Kill, been playing it since it came out in 1998, so I knew what to do while I was watching you play it :D - you do have yet to learn how things work in that game; like that mirror & sink you shot in the apartment; you could actually go up to the sink with the mirror & talk to yourself in the mirror. You could walk up to the toilet & press X or whatever the button is on the Evercade handheld & you could actually go number 1 in it & gain 10 points of health. I'm wondering if you could ever connect with George Broussard, seeing if you could get him on your channel.

  • @schtive81

The original Duke Nukem 1 and 2 were built on the ID Software game engine that was designed for Commander Keen, it didn't support 2D acceleration on DOS-PC, so you got that chunky looking framerate.
Time to Kill actually runs pretty smooth on the original PS1 hardware. Not perfect, but very playable. It has a Tomb Raider feel to the controls, but the game is good. I never liked Land of the Babes as much, but it can be still fun.
The GBA game was more like a Doom clone, but interesting.
Total Meltdown is a port of Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition for the PS1, but the original PS1 game has a notoriously bad framerate. But I think they smoothed it out for evercade.

Hey RGT, I really want to play MVC2.
Should I get the arcade 1up cabinet, is there a decent emulator somewhere, or should I try and track down a dream cast and a disc?

get the cabinet, cause it's the cabinet, haha. PS3 version was the DC version IIRC. You could try that one too

I am totally confused. At first he showed a nice console handheld device for 60 USD which is good price and then he opened a case with cardridge, but for what system? Because then we see the menu of the game..

The version he's playing on is the Evercade Vs, which is basically a console version of the system. As far as I know all the cartridges work for all of the Evercade systems, though

The handheld is called a super pocket. The cartridges are for the evercade family of systems and the super pocket can play them too

I know Time to Kill wasn’t as good as Duke3D, but I didn’t hate it. Me and my buddy (I think he either owned it or borrowed it from his cousin) but yeah, it was fun, not a “best of PlayStation” list, but yeah, its good. And it played quite decent
