What is desire?: the concept that there is a “ better something” other than what is right now. What if my desire is to appreciate more deeply all I am aware of as it occurs? What is the sensation of desire?: do I notice a change in bio chemistry and tension ie. “Emotion”. Is emotion the same as sensation, or is it sensation plus personal preference? Does “ attachment” narrow focus and create thought that robs us of both awareness of sensation and any appreciation of it? Is desire How thought “hooks” attention away from sensation? Can I learn from sensation without dialogue? Apparently not lol..

I am in love with this man. To desire, to crave for success is to crave for being loved. It is the compelling need to be convinced of something of which we are not inwardly convinced. It is the fight for the conquest of a lost crown. It is the fight of our parent, of our brother, of our neighbour, of the foreigner, of our enemy. It is a cancer that unites us all. And yet this cancer that is a terminal disease affects us all. The very nature of this disease informs us of the very answer to this need. We are not alone. We are one. Beautiful, alive, mortal, ever-transforming, ever-dying, ever-living beings.

To actually see something rather than to convert it into more thought I would think would result in real change, although I can't say that I have succeeded in doing that other than to take my own desires less seriously

"If you want to give meaning to your life, it's not life. It's another escape from yourself, from what you are" ... Of course it's a desire, to conjugate a meaning to your paralyzed life.... You want your life a very special one, not ordinary, without doing anything about it, simply following the way the world is that is everybody does the same, coming suffering the rotten way of public education which is the foundation of all the rest.
This way of thinking might help ... it has been working for me.
I have three parts in my life: adult life, childhood (maybe two here, as much as I can remember and that part I cannot remember), and ... the prenatal life. And conditioning started after this (for some wealthy traditional families would have started even before).
The part that I cannot remember, I still have ways to feel about it, by asking or assuming or intellectual/ educated guessing process ... which is perhaps more important, to understand myself. How about answering your child for such the question and all you know is negative that the child would not like to have remembered...? You might like to conjugate that part ... So, where is the truth? I have to find it, for an urgent changes to occur.
However, other than someone I know, do some people recall how it was like to be settling and growing in the womb, as physical formation process, at the least? Sure we can find some general idea from the medical research! Could there be some kind of spiritual seed planted at the beginning of this stage, as well?
Jesus said "Leave 99 sheep you have collected and look for the one lost sheep."
And he also said that one must thread together all the jewels of memories into all one, and see as one whole piece, for the total understanding of me, to come.
God bless humanity. We humans are the light bearers. We must do our job right, by understanding ourselves, the first and the foremost.
And K says, "Be the Light to Yourself."

The root of suffering isn't desire, but one's incorrect interpretation of the root(s) or the nature of our desire(s). Ex: I don't desire water, I desire to quench my thirst. I don't desire a romantic partner, I desire to fulfill my romantic needs. I don't desire food, I desire to satisfy my nutritional needs. I don't desire a better pillow, I desire better and more comfortable sleep. I don't desire to be a lawyer, I desire to serve justice (or I desire power, prestige, what have you). What is the root cause of your desire? If you attach your desire to objects and people, you are likely to continue suffering so long as you totally misunderstand what is that inner desire (that lack, whether actual or perceived) that you are really seeking to fulfill.

Tina G Vardanyan what you are saying is who? The thought finding it’s meaning through words and examples through experience. But who decides what is desire and who is sensitive to these desires? Then again another desire to stop and tread more carefully.

    • @tinagvardanyan8627
      @tinagvardanyan8627 6 лет назад +1

That is a more difficult question to answer. I may be a totality - a whole mind, the entire mathematics of me that is doing the calculations in favor or against a given thing within a given environment. Or I might be the product of a single formula that is guiding the totality of me within a given environment. Then again, I might be something entirely different. Since I don't know the "who", for now I can be satisfied with knowing the "what" (what attracts and repels me in the present moment) and if I can, also know and understand the "why". Why did I decide for or against this? What might be the root cause for my desire to do or have this and not that? Perhaps "who" is that which is eternally unfolding and is the ever-evolving brainchild of "what". The best practical comparison would be microevolution vs. macroevolution, with the former determining and deciding the outcome of the latter. And knowing the "why" can help guide me towards a more fulfilling and more personal unfolding that isn't so unique to me personally, but rather connects me on a deeper level to everyone else. Since there's less variation (if at all) in our core needs than there are available means by which to fulfill those core needs. @@parasmehta5114

Tina G Vardanyan Just like a dream at night the world we see at day is a mere projection of our thoughts. There is a script to this show and we are just actors. Only thing to realise is that we are the screen and our thoughts and actions are the screenplay or acting. The true liberation is in self enquiry and self awareness which leads to a consciousness. The consciousness is itself a puzzle. The word “I” you saying is who? Is it consciousness? Or someone else observing?

@@parasmehta5114 What I am writing now is not a projection of your thoughts, but of mine. I am projecting in response to your own thoughts, and hence our relative coexistence: relative as in inter-related.
This platform that the creator named RUclips is neither my own projection nor is it yours, unless we contribute to its content, like we are doing right now. And even then this platform is not our personal projection. We're but small contributors to its content. Another example: The tree that grows in your back yard is a projection of your own thoughts IF you came up with the idea to plant it. But the trees in your neighborhood are thought projections of the people who run your city, or your neighbors who may have suggested the idea to the city to have those trees planted there. Yes, the world we see at day is a projection of our thoughts, but I can assure you that you didn't project most of the atrocities nor beauty that surrounds us all. We all play our own part, directly or indirectly, wittingly or unwittingly, however small or large the scale of our contribution.

The answer to his question: what happens after sensation? The answer he ‘expects’ from the audience is ‘thought comes in and creates an image and desire is born’. Ordinarily I would say just I (not my thought) desire it! So I identify thought as myself! It takes some clarity in oneself to understand that it is thought after all! But what is thought anyway?
Never mind my comments, I am just talking to myself, out loud :)

to quote from K himself from another of his speech:
"Thinking is the response of memory, the response of knowledge, of experience"...
Experience create knowledge, it is then stored in the brain as memory, then the memory responds to sensation. And as you said, K did say here that thought too is a type of sensation...probably he meant it is a type of sensation, because it is borne out of sensation/experience; stored up in the brain as knowledge, therefore a memory. Then it comes out as thought in response to a sensation/experience and the whole thing then goes on and on..
      To quote K again:
"What do we mean by thought? When do you think? Obviously, thought is the result of a response, neurological or psychological, is it not? It is the immediate response of the senses to a sensation, or it is psychological, the response of stored-up memory. There is the immediate response of the nerves to a sensation, and there is the psychological response of stored-up memory, the influence of race, group, guru, family, tradition, and so on-all of which you call thought. So, the thought process is the response of memory, is it not? You would have no thoughts if you had no memory, and the response of memory to a certain experience brings the thought process into action."

It might be hard to understand if you have not done vipassana meditation. Once you become hyper aware through meditation, what he's talking about is alot easier to understand. Every external stimuli you receive, there is a sensation in the body. You then react to those sensations by averting or attaching to them. It's a natural human mechancism that happens subconsciously. But be careful when you do vipassana for the experiential learning because you will be able to sense those sensations without external stimuli. You might get attached to them or avert from them. Stay equanimous...
To simply observe without thought or annotations to the external stimuli, you cease the desire.
