AGREED with your "Dad Rant." Anyone complaining about a 6 sec 0-60 time of a big family SUV needs to get their head examined, that's about as fast as what a Corvette could do 3 decades ago! That's plenty fast for anyone with this rig, and I'm honestly a little nervous that there are so many 3 or 4 ton EVs out there with the ability for accelerate twice as fast as that with drivers who have no performance driving training whatsoever.
Ethan. Do NOT apologize for your dad rant. It is truly needed and I certainly wish more online people would give that same messge. When I read about the Tesla CT or Hummer EV's and how fast they are, it makes my blood boil. My tiny little Bolt EV goes to 60 mph in about 6.5 seconds and that is way faster than 95% of the drivers on the road can truly handle. But I'm on my second Bolt and have never tested that once. On the flip side, my efficiency is outstanding at 4.7 miles per KWH. Few EV drivers achieve that level. And yes, the fast side of EV's can be fun and addicting at times, but the entire purpose of driving an EV should be efficiency.
A couple years ago I needed an 'interim' car after my FIAT 500 was totaled after being rear ended by a Wrangler. I found a new, leftover 2018 (it was in 2019) Mitsubishi Mirage G4, with CVT. 78 hp and 74 lb ft tq. I used it for delivery with Amazon, and i tell you I got around fine with that little power, the CVT, and fully laden with packages. Crossing busy highways, merging, passing, etc, all fine. And, I was more aware of how much power I didn't have, so I found myself make safe decision when crossing highways/passing, etc. I appreciate your dad rant, and think it's irresponsible of any other auto journalist to be suggestion any current vehicle is above and beyond 'adequate', especially EV's, turbo charger, etc.
Thanks a lot for the good and more reasonable review. I was on the waiting list for a Equinox EV for over 2 years now; expecting my delivery in the next couple weeks, and I was beginning to feel anxious about it knowing the many similarities with the Blazer EV.
Man, I'm not a father but you hit it right on the nose with your dad rant. It boggles my mind how these other car reviewers will take points off a car based on 1 or 2 seconds of difference going 0-60mph as if everyone is in a drag race driving around town. 😄.... As for this blazer ev, i was interested in the blazer coming off of a Chevy volt but the delays and software problems did not spike my interest further. I will say I do like the 2 tone red interior though...As such I traded my volt for an ev6 and am so glad I did. Kia does give you a lot for the money... By the way, my rear wheel drive ev6 can go 0-60 in 7.2 seconds and I find that pretty fast on any road...if I get to Walmart 1 or 2 seconds behind you then I'll be ok with that. 😄
I sold my 2017 Volt a week ago for the Blazer EV LT AWD and love it! Also agree highly with the dad rant, even though I've been known to have a lead foot at various times. With the instant torque, you pretty much leave most ICE vehicles in the dust. I was tossed between the Ioniq 5 and the ID4. The Blazer EV won because of the low lease payment I got, along with the styling inside and out, comfort, understated range and roominess inside. I did think though that the Ioniq 5 did have a better suspension setup. I also found out that the ID4 does not have one-pedal driving which is a deal killer for me.
Just got one today. The car is quite awesome. The dealers are giving great deals this month. When I hear about its comparison to the model Y, it's odd. The blazer EV needs to be in a different segment.
What a nice Acura ZDX....I mean Honda Prologue....I mean Chevy Blazer! At least the Honda/Acura models get Apple CarPlay...it should be illegal to not allow that these days!!! Also, I love the solar panels covering the parking of where you were filming, we need more of that in the US!
I am really looking forward to trying the Honda versions of this! And for sure, it is certainly a big risk to ditch Carplay. Though Tesla gets away with it! Yes, they just installed those panels last year. I'd love to see more of that. Every parking lot in California should have them :)
Considering I used to live in a car-reliant area I would love to know how I would enjoy the "fast acceleration" when departing my old house meant I dealt with a narrow street, then a speed-hump laden street. YEP - would make perfect use of the fast acceleration! 🧐
Thanks for the review. I got me the Blazer, and I love it so far . Like you said no everyone needs a speed racer car, I think GM is being more cautious to avoid accidents.
You are spot on with the Dad Rant. I stopped watching one of the most popular reviewers because of his ridiculous comments about 0-60mph time. Now about the Blazer EV. I currently own a 2025 Equinox EV. It's my first EV. I wasn't sure if I would be an EV convert, so I bought the Equinox as a learner car. I didn't want to spend too much on it. After driving it for two months and 2000 miles, I now know that I'll never go back to an ICE vehicle. That said, the Blazer EV is more suited to my taste and needs. I'm waiting to see what changes will be made in 2026 on the Blazer. I know I'll take a loss on the Equinox, but I think the Blazer is the right car for me.
I came for the Nova twin Cam and I stayed and watched because I care about this channel. But I want some Nova twin cam content 🙏🙏🙏 gimme gimme gimme Thank you in advance 🙂 The dad rant was great!!!
This is because it is only oriented to the U.S. market. And it is the country with the highest percentage of Iphone users in the world, about half of Americans use Iphone. In my market for example it only represents 8% of users. And let's be honest, the consumers of electrics, match some of the following requirements: They use Iphone, they vote democrat, they are vegans, they are wokes, or they studied some useless humanities degree in college.
So they can sell their proprietary subscription interface. Welcome to the new age. It's an android interface so it will have all the apps already loaded but who knows how long till that's a paid option for "premium" features.
@@thndr_5468 I understand your point perfectly and I agree, but there are other markets that consume many Chinese cars, and most of them don't even have that, they have MirrorLink, basically you mirror the phone to the screen.
I was initially wondering how it compared to the Honda Prologue, but once you confirmed that this doesn't have Carplay, that was an absolute deal breaker for me. I'd buy the Prologue if I wanted this platform. I generally prefer Honda's ergonomics to GM's anyway. Maybe if I were an Android user, it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me since (if I'm remembering correctly) you can sign into your google account, get your apps, etc in Android Automotive. Hopefully, GM gets the data to demonstrate what a bad decision this is and adds Carplay via an OTA update.
Kinda curious how often you're going to mention the stop-sale of the vehicle. I ask because I got it the first time though the second? Not sure what your point was.
I know we've got a lot of very specific and sometimes puzzling safety regulations on cars nowadays... But something tells me automakers could easily make windows bigger and pillars smaller if they actually tried to. This is getting absurd!
I keep hearing news stories about the death of EVs. But I was surprised to learn that more EVs were sold in Q1 of 2024 than in Q1 of 2023, and the Tesla Model Y is still the 4th best selling car in the US. But yeah, it's true that the growth has slowed significantly. Loads of available EV inventory means slashed prices, and some insanely good lease deals on some models
What if you have the front wheels turned all the way to the curb? Will the charger door even open? $60K+ for a Chevy without NACS port, no Carplay, and apathetic service from dealers and a company backtracking on ev commitment. Hard pass.
The fact that everyone is worried about screens when they're already always on their phone and tablet is sad. Half of every review is just about screens 🙄
You see that new Lincoln suv? Corsair I think, thing has a 4 foot long screen, stretches nearly pillar to pillar. I'm all for a bit a tech, but nowadays vehicles are becoming rolling cell phones. Edit...Nautilus, Lincoln Nautilus

What do you think of the Blazer EV?
I think it's junk like every EV
GM has made junk since the 70’s. 😢

Best review for the blazer EV I’ve seen so far. Everything covered. Thank you. I also agree with the Dad rant.
It's beautiful, but I hope GM will go back to selling smaller EVs as well as SUVs. Not all of us want a larger vehicle.
Totally agree with ya dad rant. After driving 35 years , my non turbo cx5 is more than I need and can handle. Excellent review
Thank you! :) :)

Nice to see wild interior colors coming back! I mean, in this case it's not great, but hopefully a sign of things to come?
I appreciate that it's not boring! The red isn't for me, but I do hope it means a bit more experimentation with color in the future!
Great looking ride and there's a lot of great lease deals.
Thanks Great Video information
I love it, mine is in transit to the dealership

I think I'd prefer less range and lighter weight if doing so would allow for a more compliant suspension tuning.
Great video. One of your best!
The price is a bit too steep. My wife loves Apple Car Play and I love Android Auto, so a vehicle without those would be a non-starter.
Kinda curious how often you're going to mention the stop-sale of the vehicle. I ask because I got it the first time though the second?

Hope you get its platform-mate Honda Prologue so you can compare... and yeah, the lack of phone apps is a very odd decision!
Yeah I'd really like to drive the Prologue!
I heard GM and Honda collabed on the Prologue. @@HelloRoad

They have to lower the price because nobody is buying electric cars right now. Used car prices on electric cars are way down
