It halls balls!
Test drove a well spec-ed one in 2016. Drove way too soft for me but it sounded amazing. I thought the interior left a lot to be desired, as it's quite dated by now.
I gotta agree with you. I think this thing is cool as hell for what it is.. a GT car. It’s really beautiful and exotic, and it sounds amazing. Yes, the interior tech looks out dated, but it’s still nice... it kinda has a retro-ish feel to the interior. I don’t know if I would pay $140-150k for one, but the prices you can get these with really low miles is insane.
There's too much asian propaganda against european cars so they can sell their shit cars, bro
Tuberculosis_victim o
definitely one of the best looking cars of the 00s
It's wild that they still sell these new! But the design is really timeless and you can get them in great shape for half of new MSRP on the used market
@@TedwardDrives I think they stopped production about 8-10 months ago. I would buy it! I love the gt
Best sounding one too

There are some way better sounding cars out there
@@Felix-ix3qe Sorry, should've said: "in my opinion".
That V8 sound is intoxicating.
exterior: 10/10
interior: 3/10
why they refuse to give this car a decent interior is beyond me. that centre stack is a crime.
It's from 2008 and they don't have the money to update it.
In 2018 Maserati Granturismo had a new infotainment system with an 8.4 in touchscreen. Now we are waiting for the new Granturismo 2021 models with electric engine and we will regret the sound of the Ferrari V8.
The interior is outdated but to say it isn't decent or that it is somehow criminal isn't true. This was top of the line ten years ago, now, it's just outdated. It'd be nice to have updated infotainment and a more 2020-style vehicle design, but the actual interior design is intrinsically *good*.
I used to have a GranTurismo S and I can assure you that when you drive it you don’t care about the centre stack.
hard buttons > touch screen. everytime
That green instrument lighting gives me that 90's Ford interior vibe.
accurate
Green is great to look at, though. Even though it's definitely outdated.

@@zerozero_73 true, it gives me the F40/F50 vibe.. and that is the vibe they were going for.. not 90's fords..
Hey my '95 f150 has the green cluster and climate controls! Also the entire interior is blue
Damn... the interior really looks like an old Mercedes.

They say the same about your mum
The 4.7 L V8 in these cars is an absolute audiophile monster, it's really got the mean roar you also kinda hear in the Alfa Romeo 8C
its because they share the same engine
People these days care way too much about numbers and not enough about the experience. Many modern cars are quicker, but boring and have no soul.
This ^...a million times this ^
Exactly. I drove an Aston Martin 4.3 V8 Vantage for a weekend nearly a decade ago and it was plenty quick enough for UK roads. 0-60 mph in 5 seconds, 0-100 mph in 11.5 seconds is all the performance you really need .It was amazing to drive. Communicative steering, gorgeous sound, great gear change and looks to die for.
People are obsessed with 0-60, 1/4 mile times and the cars are so fast now that they're barely usable on the public road. Was a passenger in a 720S a couple of years ago and that thing was just too fast to use properly on the public road. Put your foot down for 5 seconds from 30 mph and you're deep into ban territory. Put your foot down for 10 seconds from 30 mph and you'll probably be sent to prison as you'll be doing over 150 mph. 720S is largely pointless in the UK.
Meh. One of my friends owns one and it’s not that that fun to drive and has tons of issues. Still an okay car. Depreciation does its job though; def worth it on the used side of the market
Your friend owns it, and it "not fun to drive, tons of issues, just an okay car..." Maybe jealous a bit? Lol
Carlo not really jealous, just that I prefer my own car. Sure the GranTurismo MC sounds great, but it’s outdated, not very nice, and has a $10k service bill to fix a differential. For what he got his for (60k) I’d rather have a used F-Type R.

One of the most underrated cars it’s not about the fastest car sometimes it’s about the exhaust and comfortable but sporty ride
Best GT car I owned. Fantastic cruising across Europe
Beautiful, Beautiful car. A bargain in the used exotic/sports car world.
I'm a lucky guy, I drive one of these bad boys *everyday!*
It's very simple, any one that talks down about this car is either jealous or have never driven it, PERIOD! This car on a daily basis is AMAZING in every way! I've replaced the dated stereo console with the 2020 Aucar Android touchscreen head unit as well as the digital touchscreen climate control-----> GAME OVER! lol
They're amazing cars used and when they were new in '08, but when someone talks bad about these, they're talking about the fact that you'd be an idiot to buy one of these new right now.
Badly Drawn Cars yeah definitely gotta let someone else take that depreciation hit
Well said.
what abour reliability?
@@bayharborbutcher8132 I drive it EVERY day, so....
That is such a simply beautiful interior. A fresh breath of air compared to the rest of the modern over complicated messes.
That is "simply beautiful interior" to you??? really? that?
Yes it is. I can’t stand the modern screen infested crap.
My father had the Quattroporte sport GTS with the 4,7l engine and i loved the car soooooooo much. I had goosebumps even 30 minutes after the drive!
How was the reliability?
@@MrMan-fx3ow surprisingly very good! The car didn't have a single problem. He bought it with around 55k km and sold it with around 70k km, so we didn't drive it all that much, but these cars usually work even better if you drive them regularly ;)
@@petroa.9134 Well that settles it. I’m definitely getting one now😂
I can’t believe that interior for a 2017 sports car 🤣
Yes, I bet the interior is the reason why you are not going to buy it... Hater!
@@Isalei84 I can't afford it but the interior does suck, nothing wrong with saying that.
2017 luxury sports car at that.
It actually was for me. The tech and look of the interior is just completely suboptimal for its age. I love the car and it’s a brilliant sounding machine, but that interior is terrible.
@@Gravity_hpu what did you end up getting, if I may ask?
I had two friends in HS whose dad's got these as their midlife crisis cars; one got a convertible with a magna flow exhaust and that shit was fucking nuts. You'd hear him from so far away and he'd take us to car shows in it all the time. So much fun, can't believe these are like 40k now
I agree with you, such an underrated car. That V8 howl is reason enough to want one.
I paved that parking lot lol
No way! I spend a lot of time sweating in that lot lol
awesome, nothing like some good hard work
Used to daily drive its Quattroporte cousin - a tamer 4.2L Executive GT with the same 6-speed ZF, and even with its “lesser” 400 HP, it was a real blast. Such an easy car to live with and 100% forgiving for all drivers. It was starting to show its age, but it never left me wanting, it still nailed every part of the daily drive that I needed. I’ll have to give a try to these 4.7 GT’s at some point!
Been very impressed with certain torque converter autos. Shift speeds are more than quick enough for spirited driving and lockup torque converters make for a very direct feel.
I miss my Maserati, sold it due to not having time to actually enjoy it. I remember sitting in it for the first time, loved every second of my ownership. Will definitely add it to my buy again list. I see lots of dislikes due to the interior, that was the least of my worries when I owned it. I had my windows down 95% of the time enjoying the amazing exotic sound of the NA V8.
What year did you have? And what was your experience with the reliability/maintenance
@@MrMan-fx3ow I had the 09 with the F1 gearbox, I drove it HARD, every time. Not rarely. Maintenance wise just oil changes every 3K, reliability. Was only ever in the shop for spark plugs, which is part of maintenance. Owned it for 5 years and put maybe 25k miles on the clock. If you ever get to drive one, you will see that the car loves being driven hard and fast.
I have a 2015. Every time I drive it it puts a smile on my face.
Cool car. Honestly, thank you for using excellent steering wheel control. Thumbs out, 9 and 3, and smart hand placement when turning the wheel. I can't take other car reviewers serious when I see terrible wheel control.
Thank you! Bad driving RUclipsrs mixed with ill conceived "reviews" were a big encouragement to start doing this lol
Does this keep you awake at night
VLADIMER PUTIN it keeps me awake when they talk with both hands and look at the camera while doing 0-69
I have a 2017 white quattroporte with red interior and although its a big and long car I love driving it. So far maintenance has been minimal. I put new rotors on it and new tires and that is about it. Everything else is smooth as butter.
Old ones are bargains most definitely! Timeless looks and sweeet sound.
I'd be scared of the bill if something breaks. Ferrari and Maserati parts are likely quite expensive...
@@Matthew-nl9kd just buy the ZF version and youll be ok
The best modern sports car gt car daily driver best sounding best looking best design. Its hard to beat despite it not being really fast.Ive driven everything and this is on top of my list
I wonder if they meant to keep 2004 tech in it until 2019
And a 2019 price
They probably think the car is more "classical" that way
This is one the few truly beautiful modern sports cars.
Thanks for the POV! The GranTurismo is such a legend!
One of the best looking and sounding cars of all time. On my bucket list
I own one of these and let me tell you it puts the biggest smile on my face every time. Tech is dated I admit but everything else is just perfect it does exactly what it was built for and the reliability issues are very much exaggerated because I’ve had two now and both have not given me a single issue.
I had mine up to 170mph on the Autobahn and I was amazed at how comfortable and undramatic it was at that speed, it is clearly built to go very fast with style and comfort.

It feels so weird watching any car video based in Massachusetts because I'm just sitting here, recognizing the surroundings when usually I'm focused on the actual subject of the video. Good job, great car, great video.
Thank you so much for posting this. One of my favorite cars 🙌🏻
This is one off my favorite Italian cars EVER. What a dream *.*
The Best car Maserati ever made
An engine and killer exterior, full stop. The interior is just a reminder that you're willing to send it back to 2005 for THAT exterior, another point, I get a weird satisfaction from early 2000's interiors, the fact that the tech is just under par and the analog clock hasn't been necessary since 1999 make it a little human for me, dunno why but it makes me love it.
With you on this Jayson. One button, one function. Tach and speed plus oil pressure gauges all I need.
that interior looks like it comes straight out of a 2002 Chrysler 300.
Didn’t Chrysler own fiat which owned Maserati in 2000 which might explain some sharing of cosmetics
Barry Maskell fiat didn’t own Chrysler till 2014
😂😂 on g
No FCA shared parts in the GranTurismo. That is the Ghibli or the QP. The GT was 100% Maserati/Ferrari made in Modena.
@@Isalei84
Yet it uses an infotainment system out of an early 2000’s Peugeot.
This is much like my GT MC Sport but mine is in Blue Sofisticato. It is my daily driver, I agree totally with the review. The best grand tourer I've ever had (had all kind of BMW, Audi, etc...). Design is timeless, exhaust sound is unbeatable. Love the full carbon fiber interior, Alcantara roof and marine blue leather dash and black Potrona Frau leather with contrast blue stitches. It makes me laugh reading the haters talking about the interior, like they are talking about a Lexus or a Mercedes... This is a modern classic, exotic grand tourer! Materials and fit and finish are amazing, the last Maserati still handcrafted in Modena original factory. And the style is subjective, the vintage interior style is a plus for some people, not everyone wants a "tablet on wheels"!
I expect some better tech for the price. I’m not a big car tech fan, but this is unacceptable for a car of this price tag. I could just cut my losses and buy a Porsche 911 for cheaper
@ Carlo - I too bought one in Blu Sofisticato, but with cream interior. I visited the factory at Modena and saw them being made, and I took away the corporate brochure and the Granturismo featured on its cover is Blu Sofisticato with cream interior. So I thought if that's what the stylists and marketing experts at Maserati thought was the best combo to present their product, who am I to argue!? It is a beautiful car, and even after 18 months it makes my spirit soar just seeing it.
@@EbilEnemyofBurgerTown You don't buy a GranTurismo for the tech. So many reasons behind the choice. BTW, since model year 2018 the whole infotainment system was upgraded to current standards. P.S. I had three different Porsche in the past.
@@Isalei84
Why buy a Maserati when I could spend money on a Bentley Continental GT or Mercedes S class with more features for the money. Compared to its competitors, it’s in the dust.
@@EbilEnemyofBurgerTown Again, the tech features are NOT a reason to compare this car with others. You don't get the point, the GT is all about timeless design, elegant and aggressive style at the same time, the best exhaust sound and the naturally aspirated Ferrari V8 engine. But you keep talking about tech features. But if you mention Bentley and Mercedes as "more feature for the money", it makes sense, it's definitely NOT the car for you. To each one his own.
I have one, the only complaint is the endless attention, you cant get gas without 10 questions.
Other than that, I love it. The shifts arent super fast but the sound is on another level. Honestly, I've never heard another exhaust that sounds this good from the factory.
A 3 tonne g wagon is faster
The car is dated to be sure, but this IS a real Gran Turismo in the old tradition. Lots of power, long legs, room for four. This is what Maserati was about in the 60s. You can pick up a CPO with a very fair price.
😍 I have that MC red interior one with updated muffler 🤯 love this and I had lots of different cars lambo, ferrari but this is lots of fun for a little price 💯
The GranTurismo is what got me hooked on cars. When I was 15 with just my permit a neighbor let me drive for it fun. Beautiful car with even better noises. Video certainly did it justice!😁
You had a very nice neighbour!
The gran turismo has the best sound ever
I remember hearing it in 2012 for the first time.. it was so unbelievably good
With all the aftermarket interior upgrades that aucar makes for the Maserati granturismo, the price for them is a steal.

Although I’d probably never be able to get one of these _(as much as I’d love to ),_ I’m still content with the sound of my 335i

I used to live right there in Newton by the high school! Looks a little different looking out of that beautiful Maserati than out of my pickup truck though. That Maserati sounds incredible.

Taking an Italian sports car through the Newton supercollider?! Now that's a true test of bravery! Exit 17 is the wooooorst.
The Circle of death! But I love “supercollider”
I bought 2018 GT Sport convertible with only 6K miles a few months ago for only $75K! That's literally half of what is was when new! The 2018 models have the updated touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. Yes, the GT is nowhere near as fast as its modern rivals. However, the styling and exhaust sound blows them all away. Also, the GT gives you a sense of occasion every time you sit behind the wheel that the others lack. A real head turner for sure!

God that sounds good. NA for the win! What’s up with the strobe light display on the dash?
Just the shutter speed vs the frequency of the display. Depending on lighting conditions and display you might see some flicker in videos
Bruh that's because of the camera.
It isn't like that in real life.
The Gran Turismo has been out for over a decade but it’s just such a likeable car even though it’s got an outdated interior and should probably have a dual clutch gearbox, but what it does have is beautiful styling and an epic engine. Such a likeable car and a good used deal.

If this car had the ZF 8 speed auto that has made its way into cars like the Charger SRT8 and Jaguar products it would be literally perfect.
1000000%
Sadly, Maserati continues to be extremely slow to improve anything.
thanks for reminding me. the transmission was pretty pathetic. Still a very heavy and enormous car.
Still … the best naturally aspirated V8 on the road. No contest.
Why the Maserati got a bad reputation? It’s a super nice car if you wait 4 years, lost 50% of the price, that’s a great deal a Ferrari for 4 people for 50 grand.

This car is for blind people, you don’t have to see the ugly interior but still hear the V8
The interior is fine for it's price.
Black on black doesn't do it justice.
Interior looks pretty good to me.
How many competitor cars have better interior?
Porsche 911 doesn't. Aston Martin DB9 doesn't. Audi R8 IMHO doesn't. Jaguar F-Type doesn't. Audi RS5 IMO doesn't. Unless we start talking about something like a Bentley Continental or maybe an SLS AMG there aren't many out there that do...
Pete It’s all personal preferences. It’s a GT car so it doesn’t really complete with 911, R8 or the RS5. More likely the Porsche Panamera, Audi RS 6/7, Mercedes E63 Touring. For my taste, I would prefer the 2017 E63 AMG wagon or the Porsche Panamera, if we are only talking about the interior (Love the Ferrari engine).
the interior is beautiful in different specs, black on black looks awful in photos and videos
Some people prefer a vintage style, but handcrafted with the best quality leather and put together by hands in the small original Maserati factory of Modena. Some others like "modern" interiors that look like "tablet on wheels" and with cost-cutting materials....
I'm searching for my second car, and this is definitely a candidate. The other two I've found so for are a 370Z and a 2009 SL550. If money wasn't a concern at all, I'd definitely go for the Maserati, but I guess only time will tell which one I'll end up with.
this car has only 2 things style and sound everything else is just crap.
All about Games I see these repeated over and over again. Have you ever owned one? The driving experience is so unique. My friends Ferrari is much faster and responsive, yet it’s not very comfortable on a trip and isn’t a good daily drive. You have to really really be in the mood for serious sport. Yes, there are many other sedans with better tech and interior designs, but none with the same beautiful lines and Ferrari built engines. That’s the issue. People that don’t drive these make assumptions. The experience is hard to explain, and you have to feel it. I can’t tell you the sheer joy I have in sport mode/manual, and when the wife and family want a quiet and comfortable trip I can offer that as well. It feels like such an amazing blend of luxury and sport all in the same car. Unique and so under appreciated. Magnificent cars. If Chrysler electronics with Apple Car Play and buttons drive you crazy, then you’re completely missing the point of this car.

Hey Tedward i actually (recently) started working at a maserati dealership. Fun fact: the brakes you said looked cool will get immediately ruined if someone tried washing them with soap... $5200 replacement. My job has all sorts of supercars/luxury cars and the maserati gt is the only one that has that. The cheapest service on one of these at my job is about $2200 and I've seen $7-8k repair bills. The engines on the GTs definitely sound amazing and these cars are definitely getting into steal territory for price. Awesome review keep it up
tunnel + maserati = paradise
Can’t wait for the MC 20 to launch!!
I picked up a 2014 GTS around 6 months ago. There are 4 drivers in the house, two teens, two adults and an 11 year old. We pretty much have to keep several cars/SUVs and that is fine with me. If you have one of these you can't really be a "dealership" kind of guy. If you do your own oil changes and are not afraid to work on it they are fine. Most people replace the radio with an AUCAR pretty quick. While doing it, go ahead and do the temp controls so everything matches down the center. Even though I put in around 5K in radio stuff between the speakers and amps, I rarely turn the radio on unless it's a long drive. I could daily drive mine and I pretty much do even though I work from home and for me that means leaving three times a week.
My other fast cars include a 370Z Nismo and a Nascar CUP Car for track days. The Nismo is faster but will rattle your teeth out. The CUP car is pure insanity on all levels but obviously not street legal (the point in, I know what real fast is).The Maserati is faster than the numbers say. I can't even count the number of times the kids in Mustangs, Chargers and so on run up on me on the highway and want to have a go. Even that little Ford RS whatever hits the rearview when we get to 140. If you call this car slow, then you just don't have the nerve to go fast.
Lovely video dude! Really enjoyed watching this with the calm commentary and wonderful exhaust note :)
