My widebody Liberty Walk Maserati has had a huge amounts of modifications. But there is one modification i have always thought about doing and that is a straight pipe. The Maseratis's are known for the Ferrari sound they leave behind them and i was hoping to make this known by installing a straight pipe exhaust system. It sounded amazing but that was for about 1 day before it was involved in an accident!

I'm unfamilliar with UK rules. What happens if they don't? Does he have to take them to court if they won't pay the repairs?
@@Jeren6924 If they don't pay for damages directly, Matt can claim on his own insurance, since it wasn't his fault the insurance company might try to take the owner of the car wash to court. Usually these type of car wash are run by Eastern Europeans and can be money laundering fronts so no suprises if the car wash dissapears. If the insurance company cannot recover the cost of repair then Matt may have to pay insurance excess.

He could contact the motor insurers bureau and claim compensation through them. Matt doesn't necessarily need to go through his insurance.

That was sad seeing the damage. Fix it and keep it. That Maserati is an absolute beauty a real head turner as witnessed on your drive through the built up area.
You can install high flow cats and get similar results without the pollution. It does sound cool though

You should still be able to claim from the van owner regardless of who was driving. It falls under third party liability cover. It would be the van drivers insurance would then look to recoup the losses and sue the garage as was their fault.. either way it falls onto the person who had insurance.

I own one of these Maserati's, in a cobalt blue, carbon fibre rims, and kept the body stock with only addition being skirts, diffusers, and modifications to improve engine output and performance drivability...love the natural sound and exhaust tones!
Think I liked how the Maserati looked before the added kit a bit more. Could've done it well only with some subtle changes form stock imo! Regardless, heck of a car

The GRP damage is fixable without a doubt but make sure its done properly so there are no stress cracks later.

That’s absolutely gutting. I had a brick fly off a slip lorry and hit my pride and joy. They kept driving and I didn’t get the numberplate so unable to chance them up for details. Obviously it wasnt a liberty walk Maserati 😅 it was a nearly new mk4 caddy and I’d just put a brand new set of 3sdm alloys on it and the brick hit one of the wheels as well as the rear quarter 🤦♂️ you handled it way better than I did! And I bet the repairs were a lot more expensive than mine were 😢
The chances of that car wash company paying out are virtually zero. Also, sad to say that it’s likely your own insurance company will weasel out of paying a claim, as other have noted by the fact that many of your modifications are illegal/non MOT compliant. Best to chalk this one up to experience.

To keep from breaking exhaust bolts and O2 sensors you have to make sure they are as cold as possible. You can spray them with brake cleaner and compressed air to cool them off (though I wouldn't use that method on sensors unless you plan on replacing them)
Ive been doing alot of exhaust work this past year all i can say is atf + acetone + 5mins =bestfriend havent broke a rusty built since i learned that from my friend on the honda race team
