I made this plunge last fall. If you get a good price on a good car- man it is tough to beat. It def has its quirks and little small issues (for example- sometimes you start driving it and the thermostat jumps into the red- and at first you panic- but then you stop, turn the car off - check the engine bay- and once you see no issues you crank it back up and the thermostat is fine- little things like that all the time). And I think you need to find a good mechanic/shop - not the financially ruinous Maserati dealer- for basic maintenance and then you will be happy. I personally don’t think the car is really a daily driver (at least not with the F1 transmission) but if you only drive it when you are really in the mood to do some driving- then I will put the costs per smile value up against ANYTHING
I owned a 2008 and a 2014 and loved every minute of it! People always think they are unreliable, but I never had a problem, but if you do it will cost 3-4 times more than a regular car. So you need to find an independent mechanic to work on them which would make it a little less costly.

I have a 2012 facelift, white outside black wheels. No issues, although my drivers window just fell into the car door as the regulator wire snapped. Maintenance is easy to do yourself, battery can be an issue.
Nice review. I've had 2 now for about 3 years each. Taken them on special trips and to the car wash or a car show like Concorso Italiano during the Monterey Car Week in August. The only issue I have had is the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) when I first bought the GranCabrio S it wasn't working. Got it sorted out, but it still occasionally loses its mind. I carry a $2 tire pressure gauge with me in the glove box - problem solved! I'm 6'1" and can easily fit behind my driving position in the back seat. I'd be fine back there for going out to dinner with another couple. The rear seats are much more useable than a 911, Aston DB9 or Ferrari Roma. 0-60 takes about 4.5 sec, the Cabrio is about 4.7 sec... both are capable of 180+ mph top speed, although I've only taken one to 145 mph so far 🙂Great looking car, great sounding car, naturally aspirated Ferrari built V8 (the last you'll see in a Maserati) I consider these future classics that if it is cared for it will go up in value in the years ahead.
I agree! I believe they will go up in value in the years to come! Glad to hear you drive both your cars a lot. These kind of cars need to be driven! As for the TPMS thing, that's odd lol. I haven't had that issue, only thing for me was when I bought it, the 12v be the shifter wasn't working. Just needed a new fuse.
I have been watching videos on Maserati coupe’s for the last two weeks. I am now ready to buy. I got a lot of bad advice in the beginning about how unreliable they were. Well, I love the car and I’m excited about finding one. Thanks for putting this video out and I’ll let you know what I wind up with.
I’ve been dreaming about one for ages now. Unfortunately, I’m just an old(er) disabled Navy veteran, and the budget just doesn’t allow it. Still, I look at them on CarMax nearly every day just in case I ever win the big one. 🤞I think it’s one of the most beautiful cars I’ve ever seen.
I had mine for 3 yrs only issue was the hdu in the infotainment system which I did myself an easy fix. Apart from that never skipped a beat 👍 Amazing cars.
Two years in for me, The answer is yes, if you maintain it properly. Make sure you keep the battery on a charger and start the engine regularly. Don’t leave it sitting. If you have to struggle to buy it, don’t buy it because won’t be able to afford to repair it. Parts and labor for anything needed is going to be super expensive. Keep it charged! If the battery isn’t at 100% all sorts of things stop working.
Friends - this is a GT car meant to cruise at very high speeds, for a long time, on the autobahn. If Maserati wanted to build a drag car, they would. If Maserati wanted to build a car to compete with Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLearn etc…they could easily do that. The MC20 is a great start. For all you haters out there….have you really owned one, driven a good example of one? Do you realize how heavy this car is? Imagine if Maserati decided to turbo charge their 4.7 V8 and lightened the car…the performance is already amazing with a naturally aspirated V8 but if you added some forced induction…it would blow a lot of these other cars away. You buy a Maserati for the fantastic engine and GT experience. You do not buy it for Technology…you drive it for the high speed touring capabilities this car has…this car will cruise at 175+ all day, on 4.7 liters without turbos all day. Haters, buy a good example and then post your thoughts. If you just want some boring German, silver, turbocharged sedan buy a Mercedes, BMW or Audi…or…a Hemi, Ford or any other muscle car…the majority of the people post things and they have no clue what they are talking about…and for the record, Social media is fucking stupid, so is Tic Toc, Facebook, Instagram and all that other shit…get off your ass, get a degree, and then buy a Maserati. Get off your phones…and develop some people skills.
I bought my MC brand new in 2018, with all possible options. I have now 10K miles. Never had any problems with it. The car is a great GT car for long drives, and weekends. My is a convertible, so the only problem with that is, that trunk space is ridiculously small. Other than that, it’s a great car. Since I have quite few cars, I don’t intend to sell it, it’s a keeper !! Oh, since it’s a 2018, by that time Maserati ironed out all the wrinkles, and infotainment was upgraded to a touch screen.
Great review! My brother has one, and I have to admit that it is an absolutely gorgeous car. That said, when he told me he was required to take it in for its annual check up and oil change - and had to pay CAD $3,200 - I was quite happy to admire it from afar. Note: the depreciation on these things is ridiculous.
Great video! Had the same car before mine got totaled, amazing car very reliable, no need for any tech, just listen to the symphony screaming from the exhausts. Recommend X-Pipes, sounds better than any car on the road till this day!
It's a great review,I have been in love with Maserati's for a long time, and I am grateful to you for your video,I have had the privilege and pleasure to own some great sports cars,my old Aston Martin DB7 6.0 V12 that I owned back in 2002 still puts a smile on my face, like your Maserati does, even though I have sold it,but I would love to own a Maserati 🎉😊👏👏👏👏👍👌
I had mine but a lot of mechanical issues. You need to charge the battery if you don't drive the car for a week. I sold it and bought an R8. Not a single issue with the Audi R8.
GranTurismo's are lovely looking cars and yours is a nice car. I'm not sure about how they drive, as I 'chickened out' and went for an M4 instead, which I am totally happy with. Nice car though.
Have you done any major maintenance on it such as : flushing the cooling system and brakes ; renewing the brake pads ; servicing or flushing the transmission ; conditioning the leather ; etc.
Ah dude I had no idea you were from MN until you showed the GPS screen. Lived in both Lakeville and Northfield...and funny enough both cities were on the map. Oh, and side note, I'll be having mine delivered from Houston to MN hopefully soon!
Do you know if the infotainment can be upgraded to the newer model? Or better still, to a 3rd party system from a good manufacturer - like AvinUSA, but I don't think they do Maserati units. Also, I was going to ask about "variator issues", but I think your car is too new to have that problem.
On my third Maserati, and my second GranTurismo. Yes, they have some issues, but so do supermodels. Wouldn't trade mine in for anything (except the next one).

Age, Zip Code, driving record, number of cars, bundled house(s), boats, umbrella policies, etc... deducible amount, blah blah... I pay about $50/month per Maserati (but I have 3) so... call your agent is the short answer. Good luck!
Very much enjoying your review (couple of minutes in). Subbed. Have a 2013 gts. Bought it with 7k miles. Few little issues here and there and yea it’s expensive to repair. But for what you get I think the repairs are reasonable.
Hey, I’m thinking of buying one. How many kilometres must it have when I purchase it ?? What colour looks best ?? Should I get it in black, or white ? I want it to stand out.
Can't beleive you said the word "I...talian". it is pronounced Etalian in Italy or It...talian in the states. With that said, I'm comming to Waterloo and would like a ride in that beautiful auto...Thanks
Recently sold my Porsche Cayman and now have the Granturismo on a shortlist of 2, the other car being a 997 series 911. The Meserati looks great like you say from any angle but I've always thought the 4 wheels need Spacers on this car to increase the track and give the car a better stance, then low and behold I saw your wheelspacers in the Boot (Sorry Trunk, I'm from the UK Hehe). If I do go for the Maserati I'd definitely fit them so can I ask you why you removed them. ?
Hahaha those spacers were from a buddy of mine who took them off a different car and gave them to me for free to see if they’d fit on mine. Unfortunately they don’t but yes I do agree it needs spacers!
@@Car.Nation .....yes I'm glad you agree. I'm not sure on the width without seeing the car close up but you'd need a 5 x 114.3 PCD Spacer with a Centre Bore of 67.1mm. They are a very rare car in the UK and expensive to run because of our taxes here, it works out at roughly $1000 Road Tax per year and fuel here is around $10 a gallon. A 911 would be cheaper to run because of its better fuel economy but I do fancy the exotic aura of the Maserati. Good Luck. !
So i want to get a new car. I gonna change my 2017 dodge charger sxt (that was my first car) i wanna jump into bigger engines and 2 door cars. This dealership is offering me a 2022 camaro 2ss for 48,000$. But they also have a masserati grand turismo 2014 for around 32,000$ and is convertible. I honestly like both of them. Which one would you guys choose?
You can not! Up til 2017, they gave you an old fashion mp3 player adapter to go into the car aux in the glovebox, however, to my knowledge it’s only for Bluetooth calls! I have a transmitter to play music
Depends on how many miles you would drive it a year. I’ve gotten about 10-12k on a set of tires. Maserati maintenance in the infotainment system says 1 year of 12.5k miles. I’ve done my oil changes myself about every 5k
Don't be shy you are doing good job and you have very cool car If you are car guy you now for Rimac company in Croatia I'm from same city where is Rimac company .because of Rimac almost every day I see Lambo , Bugatti, Nevera , Ferrari , Porsche....but Maserati is cool car and have perfect sound
Thank you! I’m trying to get more and more comfortable on camera. I’ve always been camera shy but I feel like every new video I make I get just a little bit more comfortable!
My (2) 2011s both (Cabrio and Coupé) have the same trunk shaped spoiler as your 2013, not a glued on piece, it is shaped from the metal of the trunk lid.
Of course! Mine is a 13 and I love it. Never owned a 4.2L, mine has the 4.7L. Haven’t heard a whole lot of bad things on the 4.2 but was told to try and get the 4.7 lol. No complaints!
Seriously looking at one of these. Only thing keeping me away is the sheer weight. Other options I'd want are skyrocketing out of reasonable prices for their conditions, GTs on the other hand keep going down. I'd also very much want to modify it especially in the performance department but I know this platform is hard to do so with. But their price tag right out the gate is immensely alluring.
Yup not many performance upgrades to do to it. Everyone will always say nooo nooo it’s perfect but even I would like more power. Other than that they’re great and yes kinda heavy lol
@@Car.Nation if I can find a way to shave 500 pounds off it, it'd be an absolute beast. It'd undoubtedly be able to compete with or beat the E92 M3. Formula Dynamics has a few things that aid in both handling and weight reduction at the same time with their wheels and big brake kit combined shaving a bit over 50lbs of rotational mass. But those alone won't be enough. Power wise, only option I see is custom forced induction kits since the Novitech supercharger is discontinued, and honestly a bit too expensive for the power gains you get.
@@Car.Nation Gutting is an option that'll guarantee you hit those weight numbers. But some people, myself included, want to be able to daily it whilst also enjoying track days whenever we have time to attend or that insanely windy back road in the middle of bumfuck nowhere. It's a tricky balance to try to hit with a vehicle that wasn't designed with that in mind.
I just bought mine, it's OK, but it's not its father (the 3200gt) which was a real race car... Also, it's not a Porsche. Please try a GT4rs or the 4.0 Cayman GTS or 4.0 Boxter GTS. You will want one... I promise.
The quality of Maserati cars is really bad. I had to visit dealer's service center almost every month, as my car was falling apart constantly. I sold it in less than 2 years of ownership and I never missed it.
@@sjb3460 It was a CPO car, on the manufacturer's warranty, bought at a Maserati dealership, and always serviced by a dealer. Because of endless repairs, including an entire engine replacement, I sold the car while it was still on the manufactirer's warranty. The worst car I've ever owned.
Last year I almost opted for a Gran Turismo but went with a Jag XKR instead, and seeing comments like yours (and others), I feel like I dodged a bullet. I drive the XKR a lot and it has been a great car with 0 problems. Something tells me my luck wouldn't have been as good with the Maserati.
Camera shy doesnt mean shy of others seeing you present in front of a camera. You seem to not be shy about being on camera, so your obviously not camera shy. Your shy of others judging you while your filming.
Sponsored by Maserati. Sooooo, this person must have a unicorn. Maserati is one if not the most unreliable car there is. So his car is either not old enough yet to get problems or he does in fact have a unicorn. BUT. Boy I tell you. Once stuff goes wrong its a financial nightmare. Its a Ferrari under the hood, no warranty and if stuff breaks you better have deep pockets. It is in fact a pretty vehicle. Just not worth owning. lol. Other than that - great video.

Good Luck. !
@@jamesrichardson8417 my that is expensive! If you do get one, I’m sure you’ll definitely enjoy it!
Thank you
good luck to your channel
can you play music from your phone on the car like aux?
You can not! Up til 2017, they gave you an old fashion mp3 player adapter to go into the car aux in the glovebox, however, to my knowledge it’s only for Bluetooth calls! I have a transmitter to play music
@@Car.Nation 👍
How many sets of tires do you go through within one year when using it as your daily? Also, what is the recommended oil change frequency?
Depends on how many miles you would drive it a year. I’ve gotten about 10-12k on a set of tires. Maserati maintenance in the infotainment system says 1 year of 12.5k miles. I’ve done my oil changes myself about every 5k
4300lbs is insane lol, I was about to get one but after driving a C6, I just couldn't see where they had that extra 1000lbs
I’ve always been camera shy but I feel like every new video I make I get just a little bit more comfortable!
yeah, need this in my life!!
Yes!
My (2) 2011s both (Cabrio and Coupé) have the same trunk shaped spoiler as your 2013, not a glued on piece, it is shaped from the metal of the trunk lid.
Good to know! Thank you!
@@Car.Nation You are welcome!
Not a huge fan of the rear tail lights shape and design. But other than that the design is perfect
Beautiful car.
Thank you for the review man! I’m looking into getting one of these myself in either ‘13 or ‘14
Of course! Mine is a 13 and I love it. Never owned a 4.2L, mine has the 4.7L. Haven’t heard a whole lot of bad things on the 4.2 but was told to try and get the 4.7 lol. No complaints!
The picture on "trip computer" isnt a granturismo, its a previous gen GranSport
Good to know!
YES !
@@Aether52 yes the Novitec kit is super expensive for what you get! Can always gut it🤔😉
@@Car.Nation Gutting is an option that'll guarantee you hit those weight numbers. But some people, myself included, want to be able to daily it whilst also enjoying track days whenever we have time to attend or that insanely windy back road in the middle of bumfuck nowhere. It's a tricky balance to try to hit with a vehicle that wasn't designed with that in mind.
@@Aether52 I 100% agree!
I think my 2018 jaguar xf R is a little more special than the Maserati. The Maserati do sounds good
No, it's not more special, as it's a sedan. But nice car though.
Incredible review! Always wanted one. Might end up trading my CLS63 for one aha. Just started my channel also aha
Thank you! I love me a nice Mercedes! I absolutely LOVE my GTS
I just bought mine, it's OK, but it's not its father (the 3200gt) which was a real race car... Also, it's not a Porsche. Please try a GT4rs or the 4.0 Cayman GTS or 4.0 Boxter GTS. You will want one... I promise.
Love it
Crazy car to daily, the MPG is horrendous
Other cars with worse mpg
@@Car.Nation Hummers? 🤣
The quality of Maserati cars is really bad. I had to visit dealer's service center almost every month, as my car was falling apart constantly. I sold it in less than 2 years of ownership and I never missed it.
Which one did. You have What year
@@sjb3460 It was a CPO car, on the manufacturer's warranty, bought at a Maserati dealership, and always serviced by a dealer.
Sure
Wish golf clubs fit well
I’m not much of a golfer but I wish there were a little more space😅
What about reliability?
clicked Subscribed just like that ...nice
Thank you :)
thought you were going to drive it ?
It’s the grill that’s grill an logo sexy 😰
I am between that for 35 40k or S63 for 55 60k
That’s a tough choice!
One of the best looking cars ever made
How is the gas mileage?
Not bad! I’d say 16-18mpg
Seems Mercedes copied their headlights on their amg GT63
their awesome. Until you get a insurance policy quote lol
Speaking of which, I hope I don’t feel that sticker shock. What company would you guys recommend?
I got quoted for $950 a month. I'm fked
Did you sleep in that t shirt ?
Did it take you long to think of what to say?
6 years in and no issues at all… like all cars, they all have their own niggles…
Good
The short answer is no. The long answer is nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
Spoiler alert:
Yes
My car use to look like this. now its a true exotic TAKE A LOOK 👀
Actually you will see they eat tires no matter what alignment .I'm on my 3rd set on the front after 27k km
Lol, that's basically the same for me
Same as my levante..3rd set 28000km
Yikes...that is NOT normal!😮
Camera shy doesnt mean shy of others seeing you present in front of a camera. You seem to not be shy about being on camera, so your obviously not camera shy. Your shy of others judging you while your filming.
Close to the weight of an SUV.
🤠🤠🤠
Nice review but for God's sake it's not "EYEtalian."
Actually...it is!😂....unless you are pronouncing the Countries name while standing on its sunny shores...then its:" Eeetah-liya" prego...
its bad you dont have to watch the video
Sponsored by Maserati. Sooooo, this person must have a unicorn. Maserati is one if not the most unreliable car there is. So his car is either not old enough yet to get problems or he does in fact have a unicorn. BUT. Boy I tell you. Once stuff goes wrong its a financial nightmare. Its a Ferrari under the hood, no warranty and if stuff breaks you better have deep pockets. It is in fact a pretty vehicle. Just not worth owning. lol. Other than that - great video.
The copium lol
'promosm'
There cars are terrible! Losing dealerships.
Everyone has their own opinion
✨🌟🌛🛸🛸🛸🛰️
A Maserati salesman (who wasn't trying to sell one to me) said.. "They sound amazing, and that's about it, awful cars"
Uh huh cool story bro just what every dealer wants to spread around so they can't make a living.
Lol made up story in your head.
Bro you got lucky many people that buy always have problems with the coolant hose in the back or valve cover gasket. I’m looking for one but wanna save at least 5k to change those parts right away
I love your car bro
I did have to replace the valve cover gaskets, but I did those myself lol
Thanks :) @@MurdashowsLostkid
