as a guitarist I'd rate Jeff Beck in a class of his own, BUT another one of a kind is from Montreal and his name is Frank Marino - his band Mahogany Rush - check out Something Is Coming Our Way from Live at the Agora Theatre concert - you won't believe his stamina - it was a 6hr concert

Jeff Beck is arguably one of the best guitarist in contemporary music
There’s a live show at “ Ronnie Scott’s “ with his band that’s so good. The song “Cause we ended as Lovers” is so sweet.

Jeff Beck was a true artist he never took the spotlight away from anyone if anything his generosity was unlimited . Everyone who was anyone wanted to play with Jeff and he did his rendition of Nessum Dorma on a electric guitar that Eric Clapton said was the most incredible thing he had ever heard.

The Late, Great Jeff Beck, who toured nearly up until he died at 78 years old, his last concert was the final show of the 2022 tour, about 3 months before he died of spinal meningitis in January, 2023. He played like nobody else ever has. While he loved touring and playing, he had no interest in being a "rock star," often playing on other musicians albums, often with no "official" credit. He preferred staying home with his family and building hot rod's, a hobby that really took a hold of him when he toured the US with "The Yardbirds," though he loved fast cars as a child. Some of his most amazing hits were songs by Stevie Wonder (Cause We've Ended as Lovers," or The Beatles (A Day in the Life,) that he transformed into instrumentals that were just amazing. Many of your listeners have spoken about his live concert at Ronnie Scott's, where he performed "Cause We've Ended as Lovers," and it was just the most amazing event. The entire concert is absolutely amazing, with terrific guest performances by Eric Clapton, Joss Stone and Imogen Heap.

There isn't anyone else who plays guitar like Jeff does. He didn't seek the spotlight the way the other guitar greats did, so has always been in the shadows and not as recognized. But you know, he just may be the best. (He replaced Clapton in The Yardbirds and was joined by Jimmy Page in the group for a while too.) Peace!

Jeff Beck and the Yardbirds played their first American concert at my high school, Staples, in Westport CT. The guy who opened for them was a drummer that played guitar with at his home named Steve Tallirico. We got together afterwards and talked about how we had never heard anything like it. Steve later became better known under the name Steven Tyler - of Arrowsmith.
Linda Eastman photographed it and took time to show me how to compensate exposure for the stage spotlighting. She later became better known under the last name "McCartney"
    What an unforgettable night!

The Yardbirds was one of the most consequential bands in rock history…..not because they were that successful as a band (although they had several hits) but because three OUTSTANDING guitarists were the lead in that band; Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and finally Jimmy Page. In actually, Led Zeppelin started its life as The New Yardbirds…in order to fulfill several gig obligations that Jimmy Page had inherited from the then defunct Yardbirds. Jeff and Jimmy were best friends as teens, and it was Jeff who brought Jimmy into The Yardbirds when Page was fed up with session work. It was Jimmy who inducted Jeff into the TRRHOF….and they remained best mates until Jeff’s death on January 10th of last year. One year anniversary. Jeff is considered by most great guitarists as being among the best, if not the very best……Page certainly was in awe of him, in large part because Jeff was always experimenting to get new sounds out of his guitar that others didn’t even think of. He was a great jazz guitarist in addition to blues and rock.

He thought it was a joke but quickly realized how good she is and became her mentor. He & his wife treated her like a daughter. and the interactions between them are priceless. 2007 crossroads and 2009 Ronnie Scotts. There is also a video of them both playing her base. It was her idea when Jeff and a problem with his amp durien a concert.

Jeff Beck's death hurt me as much as when either of my parents passed away. As a matter of fact, his being on the planet creating some of the most incredible guitar playing was strong heart felt medicine that helped me get thru the day/night. The last year has been extremely hard on me emotionally for various reasons. Listening to his music has been helpful, but it always reminds me that the #GOATGuitarist is no longer with us but his musical endeavors will always be here for his family, friends, & fans to enjoy. How much did I love Jeff Beck ? I got to see him 15 times perform his guitar artistry in concert.

    12) "18" tour with Johnny Depp Phoenix, Arizona 2022
EVERY time I saw Jeff Beck perform in concert he never disappointed anyone in attendance. He only got better & better mastering the guitar as the years went on in his life. He was the only musician I have ever seen in my lifetime that propelled me to a place I had only experienced when seeing him live. I was so happy & joyful when I was in attendance watching/listening to him tear it up. I'll never be in that place again unfortunately. I am so grateful & lucky to have seen "The Guv'nor" of guitar as many times as I had. After he passed away, I was feeling every negative feeling anyone could experience. I was devastated. The one thing that helped get me thru the pain was all the famous guitarists & their comments about Jeff Beck. Basically EVERYBODY loved Jeff Beck as far as his guitar playing but also that he was such a kind & humble person to be around. The only thing he loved more than his self made cars & guitar collection was his widow Sandra. Jeff & Sandra were big time animal activists which is another reason why I respected them so much. I miss him. Always will. But I will never forget him or the extraordinary music he created with his guitar. He was "One of One". We will never see another guitarist like him in our lifetime. RIP Jeff Beck.

I believe that this is the one that you meant to review, from a tribute to Les Paul concert that I believe was when he was still alive and participated in. He was a huge influence on Beck, he said that hearing Les Paul on the radio station that his mom listened to is what called him to the guitar. This was the first time I heard Imelda, I’ve been a fan ever since. As much as people talk about the great triumvirate of yardbird guitarists, Eric and Jimmy weren’t there very long , Page initially joined as the Bassist because as fate would have it, he was in the crowd watching his buddy Jeff who he’d known since they were thirteen when the previous bass player announced after the show that he was leaving. With Clapton they were one of a number of very good London Blues Bands, when Jeff left and Jimmy was the lead guitarist they were a mess, it’s the Beck era that set a new course for guitar rock. If I had to pick one to recommend it would be The Train Kept A Rollin’ a song that started as a Jump Blues in 1951, was covered a few years later as a Rockabilly song, Jeff brought his version to the band complete with sounds that nobody had heard before kicking into one of the most driving riffs in the history of Rock. m.ruclips.net/video/Vt-lKsOz9H0/видео.html

I would like you to react to a Spanish singer her name is Diana Navarro with the song "El perdón" she is a very versatile singer singing different musical styles. She always transmits with that particular voice she has and those incredible melismas.

instant add to playlist! I had never seen this, but of course had heard Aerosmith's good but lesser version. I knew Jeff Beck was otherworldly. Going off to search Imelda May.

Two songs I would love to see you do by Jeff Beck: "Hammerhead" from the studio release "Emotion Commotion" and "My Thing" from the release "Jeff". These are some power packed tracks that display just how cutting edge Jeff Beck could be. Which is where he usually resided, on the cutting edge of music despite his historic beginnings from The Yardbirds. Rest In Peace Jeff Beck. You gave us so much great music!

The first song is actually a cover of a song originally done by the female group the Shangri-La's in the 1960's. The Shangri-La's had a big hit with "Leader Of The Pack".

He should have played it on a Gibson Les Paul to make the tribute complete. I mean, it's called that because Les Paul consulted on the design and specification of the Gibson Les Paul.

Les Paul and his wife Mary Ford did some great music. Also, Les Paul was good friends with Steve Miller's parents and fro what I understand, he taught Steve Miller how to play guitar in Dallas, Texas. Steve Miller in turn taught or helped people like Michael Martin Murphy and Boz Skaggs learn the guitar, also Dallas area guys

Now you have to react to the 1964 original of that first song, "Remember (Walking in the Sand)" by the girl group The Shangri-Las, as well as the 1979 Areosmith cover.

As has been mentioned Jeff was the original guitarist for the Yardbirds but he left when he thought they were getting too commercial with the song for your love. He suggested Jimmy Page replace him but Jimmy asked his friend Eric to join so they went with a guy named Eric Clapton. Later Page did join and Eric left forming the New Yardbirds. One night they were out with their buddy Keith Moon of the Who and he said they should go over like Zed Zeppelin and history was made :) If you like Jazz check out Becks album Blow By Blow great Jazz fusion. The song walking in the sand was originally done by the Shangrilas a girl group from NY where my uncle was a studio musician who played on that song It was a big hit along with some other hits they had the most famous being Leader of the Pack. My uncle played on them all Imelda May doesnt get the recognition she deserves and is a hidden treasure. Im so glad you enjoyed it. You guys are the best

Not exactly, Clapton preceded Beck and replaced at least one previous guitarist, wasn’t there too long, it was Eric who thought For Your Love was too commercial. You’re right about Page being asked to replace him, he was way too busy as he was a first call studio session player, he and Jeff had known each other since they were thirteen, he recommended Beck. It was Beck’s time with them that changed the course of electric guitars..

Before we even get started - buddy, you have a great radio voice. Who were the Yardbirds? To name a few... Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page and occasionally John Paul Jones - just off the top of my head. Led Zeppelin started out as The New Yardbirds, putting the Yardbirds cover of Dazed and Confused on Zep's first album. Did you notice Warren Haynes (the modern Allman Bros. lead singer/guitarist) in the audience?
